I don't think your scones and my scones are the same thing........

We have two different kinds of scones here. Some are just bread essentially, like croissants but with a sweet edge to them, and some are like what you are describing but they are not normally white.

OOH, okay I know what that is and it is good!! (stayed at a Mennonite bed and breakfast once that also served lunch and dinner and not to say this the wrong way, but they served authentic food)

@Leyah: Yes they are, we make them on occasion :) I really like Gougères though (we haven't made any in a while).
