Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) I love apple cobbler! 'Tis a delicious baked good, Leyah.

And yes, please don't leave, Leyah! Ellie and I are demented fangirls with serious infatuation issues, but that shouldn't make you feel left out.

Leyah (serferrant) | 8612 comments I know... but, falling in love with a 40-year-old with wife and child?

message 9254: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) No, we don't fall in love with a 40-year-old with wife and child. We appreciate the person in question, but respect their life. And most of our infatuation is in jest.

Ellie and I have standards, don't worry! :)

Always the fangirl.

:) Don't get me wrong -- I love my fictional friends . . . but they're just that: friends. I'm not in love with them:) That concept kind of freaks me out. xD

message 9280: by Elevetha (new)

Elevetha | 11058 comments I'm not in love with them; that would be absurd.

message 9281: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) It's not "true love." Ellie and I have very firm and developed ideas about what Love is. But when you're lonely, your books can sometimes be the only friends and portals to life that you have, hence the emotional bond with characters in them.

No, we don't wish to marry them, nor are we in love with them.

message 9294: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) WOAH! You are amazing, Leyah! Yes, those should totally be Ellie and Ethan's titles. Well done!

And no, we don't really want to marry the actors or fictional characters (although you bet I would run after a fictional character if they magically became real-life). Basically the characters and actors whom we are "crushing" on possess qualities that we find attractive, but we don't take it seriously.

Trying to explain fangirling. Wow. It's tougher than I thought.

message 9295: by Elevetha (new)

Elevetha | 11058 comments A lot harder.

message 9296: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) It just comes naturally to us, so it's hard to explain... basically if you spend enough time on Tumblr, you will become a fangirl. Even if you swear not to, you will.

I remember the days when I was first becoming a Whovian, and I swore I'd never become a fangirl or demented fan.

BWAHAHAHAHA! Oh, young me, so innocent you were.

message 9297: by Elevetha (last edited Jul 08, 2013 11:17AM) (new)

Elevetha | 11058 comments You know, I don't think I stood a chance. My sister and I have been fangirling over books and shows for as long as I can remember. She introduced me to every fandom I have and we've discovered some together. She read me Narnia and Prydain when I was younger and she took me to see movies, as she still does. We tune in to all the shows together. We exchange books and/or fight over who reads the new one first. We stay up late and discuss character development and how that scene was OOC. We create fan-mixes and fan-casts. I mean, really. No chance and I wouldn't change that. Just thinking over the inordinate amounts of awesome we've been through together is mind boggling.

message 9298: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Oh, that is awesome! :D Your sister is a fantastic teacher and mentor. I think I was a fangirl, too, before I even admitted I was one. I would write fanfictions when I was younger (even if I didn't call them that), and I would pretend I was the characters all the time. I strongly wanted characters to be together, and imagined OCs to go with the real characters. I did that particularly for Narnia, LOTR, and Star Wars. Appreciating and creating fiction is just a huge part of my life that the transition to Fangirl was a natural one.

message 9299: by Elevetha (new)

Elevetha | 11058 comments I was such a pretender. I was hardly ever me; I was always in Narnia(There was a portal in the chimney) or Prydain(The south woods...) or just some random character I made up that had nothing to do with anything. Oh, and I was very frequently at A. boarding school or B. some kind of inn.

message 9300: by Marlene (last edited Jul 08, 2013 11:37AM) (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) I always checked for Narnia in the closet, but the thing I'm most proud of was my first attempt a big story project. It was basically a Narnia knock-off, complete with normal kids appearing in the land and a unicorn replacement for Aslan. A few things were my own, though - the Queen of Storming was this lass called Lucinda, and she commanded an army to rescue her cousin, who was kidnapped by these evil race of women warriors, called the Feres. I think Lucinda's aunt was their leader or something. Anyhow, I made a play about this world, and I illustrated it and everything. I was about eight or nine when I started it. I can't remember. It was definitely during my first year of homeschooling, though!
