Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 45 comments I just put together a blog post about some of the fireworks moments -- the ones that made me go "Yes, finally!", "Oh, God, no!" and the one I re-read to make sure that's what really happened. While I asked my readers to share thoughts, I figured our group here would have plenty of great moments to share.

So, what are five of your favorite fireworks moments?

Short version of mine:
1. Eric and Sookie finally hook up in Dead to the World
2. Dimitri telling Rose, "Love fades. Mine has." in Spirit Bound
3. Unintentional awakening of Kalona in Untamed
4. Discovering the real reason Bill returned to Bon Temps in Dead and Gone
5. Learning who took Dawn's father and why in Midnight Reign

TheThirdLie Hmm, it's hard to make a list without spoilers.

1. Changes by Jim Butcher - the ending pages. The forward movement in a relationship and then literally the very last thing that happens.
2. Nightlife by Rob Thurman - change in POV midway through the book, the reason for it.
3. Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson - Lightsong's revelation.
4. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson - When the definition of hope is given action.
5. Dead Beat by Jim Butcher - when a wozard's death curse is put on Harry.

#1 and #3 are both "Yes, finally!" and "Oh, God, no!"

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 45 comments Totally intrigued, Jamie. I actually have yet to read any Jim Butcher. Maybe I need to move that up on the TBR list....

Melodie (melodieco) Eric & Sookie in DEAD TO THE WORLD, is probably one of my favorite moments. And when Eric said he'd give up getting his memory back if they could be together. That one was a true "warm & fuzzy" for me. Another like that was the end of SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater. That one actually made me cry and I don't do that. Totally agree with Jamie about the end of CHANGES. I'm anxiously awaiting the short story collection SIDE JOBS which comes out in October. It has a short story that takes place immediately after the end of CHANGES. The other real big one for me was when Clare witnessed for the first time what actually happened to Michael when the sun came up before he was finally turned in the Morganville Vampire books.

TheThirdLie Haven't read any Jim Butcher yet? Get on that! =D Lots of people apparently dislike the first book in the series, so don't let throw you off. It becomes an intense series. Nothing happens without a reason either, the most minor detail can come back as something huge in later books.

Each Cal Leandros book has had an "Oh, God, no!" moment as well, but the first book's was definitely the most profound.

I love when things prove to be all interconnected. OK, I'll move the first Dresden book up on the TBR. Thanks!

Don't base your opinion of the Dresden books on the first one, tho. STORM FRONT is really not very good, IMHO, unless you've got it on audio. James Marsters can make anything good! From book 2 on they just get better and better.

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments ***spoiler****
When Stefan kisses Mercy in Blood Bound, I'm pretty sure it's Blood Bound.
There are more, especially one in a series that is very not Urban Fantasy, but I'll mention it anyway.
When Goblin dies trying to kill Kina in order to save Sleepy and Tobo. Then is "brought back" by Kina 4 years later as her tool. Both of those made me cry. That's part of the Black Company series by Glen Cook.

Julia | 615 comments 1. I would list Changes from first sentence to last. It's book #12 in the Dresden universe, so don't start here!

2. When Izzy's paintings start coming to life... Memory and Dream (Newford Book 5) This Newford series is not cumulative, you can start anywhere. It's about a city where magic happens, for those who can see it.

3. When Anyanwu and Doro find out that they are not the only ones like them in Wild Seed.

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 45 comments @Jamie and Melodie -- I picked up Storm Front and it's on the top of the pile at home. (Finishing up Unholy Magic right now -- ah-maz-ing.) I'll keep in mind it's a first book.
