Keith Bowden "Her extreme slenderness would have made a career in modelling impossible..." (p. 39)

I guess models in Sweden have normal bodies?

[edit. - oops!]

Henryetta Models are usually much taller.

Is Sweden not Switzerland

Dee she was describes in some places as being extremely skinny, as in not even breaking 100lbs...from what I remember

Anne Lisbeth was very small in stature.

Yes, but she's only 4'11" haha. 90lbs at 4'11" doesn't really seem "anorexically skinny" (as Lisbeth was repeatedly described in the book) to me - she's very small and slender, of course, but she probably still has a higher BMI than most high fashion runway models.

I think Larssen meant to describe Lisbeth as being too tiny-short to model - which makes sense because models tend to be 7-ft glamazons with legs for miles, and Lisbeth is more of a goth hobbit - but something got lost in translation and it ended up sounding like he said Lisbeth was too thin to model. Which is like saying someone is too tall to be an NBA player, too smart to be a Nobel Prize winner, or too stupid to be a Tea Party candidate.

Dee i'm only 5'2" and weigh significant more than 90lbs...it would look skinny, maybe not anorexic, but not a healthy skinny (does that make sense)..yet another mark down on the translation

Anne Somewhere else on this site, a Swedish girl said she had read the books in Swedish and English, and the latter was an exact translation.

Keith Bowden Still... I like the idea of models with normal, healthy body types rather than the walking skeletons that the industry demands. :)

Andrew Hildreth All in all... it's all good to me. Lisbeth is not the "model" type anyways. I prefer her to be the bad-ass, butt-kicking, computer-hacking, photographic-memory, analytical-minded, thorough research expert that she is. That's the kind of person her character needed to be.

Robinnbastar Lisbeth is 90 pounds and 4"10. so not really a model kind.
she's really tiny.
but probably cute like a kitty, that bite your face off if you touch her

Tiffany When I pictured what American actress would play Lisbeth in the American version of the movie, Wynona Ryder came to mind. I love Lisbeth's character! Was I the only one cheering her on when she got revenge on he guardian?

Signe yeah tiffany, wynona would've been good. though fincher wanted someone as young as lisbeth, which put her out by about 15 years.

i don't like rooney mara as the choice so far. just look at her in the movie poster (at IMDb): a) she is naked, b) blomqvist holds her in a protective embrace. both NOT lisbeth.

Keith Bowden Lisbeth's revenge on her guardian was classic! He deserved every bit of it and more.

Dee maybe not naked not lisbeth, but features wise i think she is good match - I really liked Naomi Roop (I think it is) who played her in the swedish version (although she was slightly taller than I imagined Lisbeth)

Signe noomi rapace was amazing. she is 5'4". rooney mara is 5'3". guess it's hard to find any actor who is 4'10"!

Dee heck, i'm 5'3" and I feel ridiculously short...so 4'10" that just seems visually hard for me to imagine...maybe its jsut me
