LOL! I know what you mean. I just CAN'T not complete a challenge I enter ... my OCDitis just won't allow it. LOL!
Same! Haven't "failed" one yet...but think I might have a major panic attack if got even close......and also seem unable to work on challenges sensibly over a year (hence the reason I made my "self" ones needing one book a month...trying to overcome that!)
As a different take on the read your name challenge, how about doing a cover image search. For each letter read a book that has an image in the cover art that starts with that letter. For Example:
Dagger
Artichoke
Flower
Fangs
Orchid
Dog
Ice
Lion
It's a lot harder than it looks, hence the non-pnr/uf artichoke.
Artichoke LOL Daffodil! :D That looks like a very cool challenge. You can post it, if you'd like. If you'd rather one of us mod-like-types posted it for ya, just let us know. I'd join in on that one. Love a good cover hunt.
The more I think about it, the more suspicious that artichoke looks. I think its quietly making plans for world domination with all of its little green friends. I think we had all better watch out. Oh, it starts small. One little corner of the garden patch. But secretly they've taken over a couple more rows, silently moving closer to your house. Before you know it, they're knocking on the kitchen door, politely insisting on entrance. Then, there they are, right in the dining room, shamelessly taking over the dinner plate and causing everyone at the table to uncomfortably look elsewhere. It's evil I tell you, evil. (Insert wild laughter here.). . .
I think I've been up almost 24 hours and I really should go to bed.

If someone else would like to post the challenge that would be fine. I'm having computer problems at home for the moment and I never know how much time I'm going to have online in any given day. If I posted, I'd definitely feel the need to check in often and it probably wouldn't happpen daily.
Thanks Sandra and Steph. Once it's posted I'll have to come up with totally new books, the only book in the above list I haven't already read is the darned artichoke one. ::shaking head sadly:: There's no escaping their evil.
I was reading while watching a baseball game and thought about a challenge!!!!! "Three Strikes Your Out"
Goal-Read 3 different Trilogies within 3 months.
Let me know ur ideas?
Not to worry, Daffodil, we're putting a spin on it. :) It'll be out soon.Good one, Amber! We'll brainstorm and let ya know.

Great idea Amber! We're going to do it for the last quarter of the year, Oct 1 - Dec 31. We're going to call it "Fantasy Baseball". Three trilogies in 3 months = 9 players on the field, 9 innings...love it. :)
So it's a little weird, but my favorite holiday is Halloween. Ghoulies and ghosties and things that go bump in the night. Tattered cobwebs hanging in the corner, creaking doors and the wind moaning through the eaves. All signs that All Hallows Eve is just around the corner. I own more Halloween decorations than Christmas and Easter combined. In honor of this festival of all things spooktacular, I started trying to think of an appropriate challenge to tie in. This is what I came up with and it could run October - November to make it a two month challenge.Movie Monster Mash
One of my favorite Halloween activities is huddling under the blankets in the dark, scaring myself with some classic horror movies (and some not so classic ones). Join me as I honor some of the best scares around by reading books that fall into the following categories.
Dracula: The fangs, the cape. Both symbolize that the master of the night has you in his sway. Read a book with either on the cover.
Frankenstein: He wasn't a monster, he was just misunderstood. You'd be grumpy too if you didn't have a name. Read a book with a green cover.
The Mummy: Explorer's beware, those Egyptians really knew how to protect their resting places. Read a book that features an archeologist, takes place in a museum, or actually features an Egyptian pyramid.
An American Werewolf in London They just wanted to hike and see the sights under the beauty of a full moon. So what if those odd locals handed out vague warnings. Read a book that features a shifter or takes place in a foreign (to you) country.
Halloween: Who is that masked man? Read a book that features a hidden face on the cover, either one that is masked or obscured by another object.
The Shining: Here's Johnny!!!! Read a book that has a source of light on the cover.
Alien: I don't feel so good. It was either all that candy I ate or the alien nesting in my stomach. Read a book that has an alien character or takes place off earth.
Poltergeist: Carrie Ann, turn off that TV this instant! Read a book that features ghosts or mediums.
Exorcist: A head-turning movie you have to see to believe. Read a book that features demons and/or angels.
Night of the Living Dead: They're coming to get you Barbara. Read a book that features zombies or a necromancer.
Let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions.
Lovely idea! Thanks, Daffodil! I'll make sure the other mods get a look at it, and we'd probably like to add some points about genre (are any/how many non-PNR's and re-reads, things like that to save on questions later), but it looks like a lot of fun!
right now I'm doing 50 books in a year- that's my challengebut as I search on titles, I notice there are several books with the same title
so, I was thinking of a challenge of reading books with the same title like
and
and
and
or
and
and
or
and
and
you get the picture
I came across this idea as I was looking around some other groups and thought it was a pretty cool idea.
The challenge is a cover challenge where you have to match cover colors with the colors in a box of crayola crayons.
Here's a list of the most current crayola colors available:

Thought you might be able to do something with the idea!

Thanks, ~♥ Kat ♥~! We actually have one we're playing around with for just that. Also thought about Skittles colors. :)Thanks for the link. We will get back to tweaking that one and post it.
Awesome I love doing cover challenges can't wait to see what you all come up with!!
We do too. Since we just put up 3 yearlies, we'll wait a bit. Maybe make it a quarterly or something. Thanks again! :)
I don't think we have a challenge like this yet, but correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm subconsciously stealing an idea and trying to pass it off on my own, it's just my bad memory at work :)The title:
Link-it: A Chaining Challenge
Start with the last book you read: Kitty and the Midnight Hour
1. Read the next in the series or if it's on your TBR, read the book above or below it.
Kitty Goes to Washington
2. Read a book with whose cover is the same color.
(red) Fire
3. Read a book that begins or ends with the same letter as the previous.
Fallen or This Side of Paradise
4. Read a book whose character is the same supernatural being or has same abilities
(angels) Halo
etc.,
It could be a fun short challenge.
I haven't seen that around, Vivian, maybe someone else will correct us both. But, that in mind, I love the idea! Its one we could do as is or run it somewhat continuously throughout a certain amount of time. Let's say we choose to run a bit longer version. We could do it both ways. Up and down. Or add more links in the chain. :)Definitely want to make this one happen. Thanks for sharing it. I'll give you a heads up before we run it.
I figured there's a lot you can do with it. I stopped after a few examples figuring you guys would get the idea and run with it :)
Oh, you will! You're officially the enabler of that one and will be announced as such whenever we get it out here. ;)
You'll see it in 2011. :)We have many, many, many challenges up our sleeves. Holding off a bit, but they are on their way.
Yay! More challenges, I can hardly wait :0)
I hope I'm not too late... for Feb 2010 suggestion. We can do something Valentine's Day related i.e. heart, love, lovers, red rose, and etc. What do you think?
Sounds good. I believe we have the monthlies (and the cover hunt is bound to have some heartsy stuff), as well as a more detailed one for Valentine's day. Keep those ideas coming. We love to have member input. Helps know y'all will enjoy what we create/post. :)
Noticed in post 1 that, as of November, you were planning a challenge based on Awesomevegan's Once Upon a Time idea in 2011. Are you still going to have one? I hope so, I love the idea. And, not to rush you or anything, but we really don't have enough challenges around here. ::snicker::
There are a BUNCH in the pipeline...don't want to overwhelm everyone with challenges all at once...and I do believe that is in there. We'll get back with an update on that :D
That one and, as Judithe said, MANY others are set and ready to roll out this year. We seem to create them faster than we can share them with the group. But, we want to make sure everyone's in a place where they can enjoy them all and not feel like it's challenge-overload. I think that's another group. LOL! ;)SUPER excited about one that will making it's appearance here VERY soon, as well as the others we have planned.
But, keep those ideas coming. They don't get overlooked, promise!, just tweaked and stored in our Mod Challenge Bank for future dates.
