Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thought I'd create a topic just for her, since we have so many fans of her series.

If one of you would post her series (in reading order), I'd be grateful. I see some "Dock 5 Universe" books noted by GR (book 1, etc), but what about the others that look like they are in that series (ie: Finders Keepers and Games of Command) ? Diff? Same? Help! :)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks, Carrie! So, the "single titles" are stand alones and can be read in any order?

message 4: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Wow, I won't edit that post again! Sheesh! I'm not too good at this. Anyway, I just wanted to add that Sinclair is open to the possibility of a sequel to Games of Command (it's ripe for one!), but that right now the publisher wants the Dock 5 series.

message 5: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Yes, Steph, the single titles can be read in any order.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL - your post looks fine. :)

Cool. Thanks!

Karin Elisabeth (goodreadscomkarinelisabeth) | 151 comments I haven't read "An Accidental Goddess" but "Finders Keepers" is high on my best - loved - books - list. (By the way the hero of this book has a moustache which I'm still looking for on the cover - I hate t when the cover and the descriptions in the book differ that much!)
I read "The Down Home.." and it was okay - but unfortunately just that.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL Karin! Maybe the cover is his neighbor or best friend. hehe

Unfortunately that guy hasn't really got a best friend.
I often wonder if the people who create the covers actually bother to read the books!
Although - on the cover of "Rebel and Lovers" the hero is actually wearing the glasses, he's supposed to wear. - Sorry, I'm a bit off topic here.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments No worries! :) It does make ya wonder if the cover artists are req'd to read the book and/or at least know about the character that's featured on it. :)

Carrie A interesting bit of trivia~ authors almost never get to pick their covers, but Ms. Sinclair actually was given a choice of models to chose from for the male lead in Rebels and Lovers. The female model was chosen for her. this is one of the few instances that she knew about where the author had any choice in the matter.

Karin, I don't think most of the people picking the covers know anything more than the basics: "romance novel, futuristic." I recently read a blog post (on the galaxy express, maybe?) that said publishers were pushing for more generic covers for sci-fi rom, wanting to get rid of anything on a cover that might "scare" buyers off by thinking it's science fiction. ::sigh:: If they have there way, all sci-fi rom covers will have the same generic man-booby pictures all the rest of the romance novels have!

Oh joy! I'm so looking forward to times like that.

But still - as long as I like what is between the covers I can live with a little complaining now and then. Thank you for letting me!

Karin Elisabeth (goodreadscomkarinelisabeth) | 151 comments By the by - did you enjoy "Games of Command"? Is anyone of you, who doesn't speak German aware what "furzels" are in German?

I really enjoy how Sinclair adds the cats to the stories. I do like my stories with animals in them, especially if they are as cute as those two.

message 14: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Games of Command is probably my favorite of hers. I love every character in that book and have hoped she'd give Kel-Paten's brother his own book. And no, I don't speak German. Now I'm off to see what furzels mean. ;-)

I'm not sure you'll find it because it is more a matter of slang in my area. Anyway it's something to do with digestion.

message 16: by Carrie (new)

Carrie I actually did find it, or a variation of the word. ;-) I don't think that's quite what Ms. Sinclair had in mind.

I really don't think it either. The thing is I have a little dog and ever so often I start calling her furzel, but she doesn't seem to mind.

Karin Elisabeth (goodreadscomkarinelisabeth) | 151 comments I think Kel-Paten and Sass were mentioned in a book that was published as an e-book. I somehow got that notion from Ms. Sinclair's website. I'm not much into e-books so I can't verify it. But I sure would love to read a book about Kel-Paten's brother. He's such a nice character.

Carrie I'm on Linnea's yahoo loop and she said a while back that she'd consider giving the Games of Command universe another look-see, using Rall as the hero. But who knows if and when that will happen. It's been an eye-opener for me to learn how little control writers have of their own books, or about what format it's published it, whether it gets to audio, etc.

There you see how wrong one can be. I always thought authors have ideas, work on them and publishers are ever so grateful.
The real problem for me of course is: I read much faster than my favourite authors are published - which I guess is a problem for most of us.
I have been counting days now - more or less - for one of my favourites to be shipped.

new_user I just read Gabriel's Ghost and really enjoyed that one! Definitely recommend. :)
