However, I started with Twilight, got sixty pages into it before my head nearly spontaneously combusted! I was nauseated with what Meyer has done to the paranormal romance genre! Quite frankly, it pisses me off that so many people are going to be convinced that THAT is how the PR genre truly is written. Not many non-PNR fans are going to realize that there are such astoundingly great authors out there (can anyone say Sherrilyn Kenyon or JR Ward?) who kick ASS at what they do! Who create strong, intelligent, admirable heroines and likable, sexy, non-creepy-stalker, bad ass heroes! Who KNOW how to write a story that isn't chalked full of bullshit and eye bleach. And, most importantly, who actually CAN write period.
Seriously, I could rant about this issue all day, I swear.

Seriously though, all of those books were bad but breaking dawn was just awful, but the face off was the best part. It took me over two weeks to finish that book because I read it so sporadically.

However, I started with Twilight, got sixty pages into it before..."
Twilight was my first experience with PR (how sad is that?) I've never really been into vampires and the like. My sister demanded I read The Night World Series and that didn't go well either. Then a "grown up" friend introduced me to Lindsay Sands and I was hooked! I think despite the damage Twilight caused I'm becoming a die hard PR fan.

Hm, well, Sands definitely has a certain style that can be entertaining. I used to really enjoy her books, but then I found my two favorite authors.
My hang up about Sands is that her books are just too airy and light. They're about vampires, and yet they're watered down and mediocre. Plus I'm not that big a fan of Sands writing style, since she seems to give a lot of excessive detail about some things, and then rushed detail on others.
Still, she's WAY, WAY, WAY better than Meyer no doubt, LOL.
The two authors I read are Sherrilyn Kenyon, who is an amazingly talented woman (I'm a hard-core fan), and JR Ward. Have you read either author before? Sherri's most known for her Dark-Hunter novels while Ward is known for her Black Dagger Brotherhood books.

Sherri writes a lot of different book series, all of which I highly recommend since they are superb. However, when speaking strictly PR then you must read the Dark-Hunter series. (That's actually where my screen name originates.) The series is what every great book series should be; amazingly well written, insanely comical while simultaneously dark and edgy, chocked full of awesome, kickass and likable characters.
Next is JR Ward with her Black Dagger Brotherhood. She is definitely an author to read, who is a great writer!
All in all, if you never read another PR author again, you must read those two! LOL

Well, I was looking for light and airy. After I read Twilight I read Lady in the Tower, Jane Boylen and The Help. I needed a light and airy read to reset myself so Sands hit the spot at the time but she lost her novelty pretty quickly. I'll look in to Sherrilyn Kenyon and JR Ward any book suggestions?

Edward is too perfect, and he's a total git.

Hm, well, S..."
Yeah, Sands is definitely a unique author in that you either start out loving her then grow bored, or start out hating her then love her. It's weird, LOL.
Oh, awesome Sharon! Sherri is a wonderful writer and a favorite of mine, while Ward is a very close second. Outside of just yelling that you need to read the Dark-Hunter and Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I really can't note any book recs, simply because both authors only write series books.
However, for the Dark-Hunter novels by Sherri, the following is the correct reading order...
1- Fantasy Lover
Not really a Dark-Hunter Book, but it's like a giant prologue for the series, but don't judge the series by this book either... technically it's not called the first book, but you miss so much if you don't read it first and the second book loses a bit of it's sweetness...
1.5-Dragonswan
Sold as a stand alone book, or as a short story available in Tapestry or in the new Sherrilyn Kenyon Anthology In Other Worlds. This is the first Were-Hunter story ever published.
(I didn't read this until almost 4 months after I finished the series because it was difficult to get and doesn't really introduce you to anyone you'll meet again.)
2- Night Pleasures
3- Night Embrace
3.5- "Phantom Lover"
Found in Midnight Pleasures. This is the first Dream-Hunter story.
4- Dance With The Devil
4.5- Dark-Hunter Christmas
Written as a gift for DH fans, it originally appeared in the back of the first edition of Dance with the Devil. You can read the whole thing as an excerpt on this page: http://www.sherrilynkenyon.com/book_p... (under the link that says "Book Excerpt")
5- Kiss of the Night
6- Night Play (Dark-Hunter/Were-Hunter, #6)
The book is also the first Were-Hunter book.
6.5- "Winter Born"
Found in the Stroke of Midnight
7- Seize the Night
8- Sins of the Night
8.5- "Second Chances"
Found in Dark Hunter Companion (Includes: Dark-Hunter, Related Books, #8). Originally given away with Unleash the Night .
9- Unleash the Night
10- Dark Side of the Moon
10. 1-"A Hard Day’s Night Searcher"
Found in My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding
10.2- "Until Death We Do Part"
Found in Love at First Bite
11-Fear the Darkness
A short story you can find either free online at http://officialsanctuary.com/
You can also purchase the audiobook for$ .99 here: http://us.macmillan.com/fearthedarkness
12- The Dream-Hunter
This is the first of the full length Dream-Hunter Books
13- Devil May Cry
14- Upon The Midnight Clear
15- Dream Chaser
16- Acheron
This is the end of her first story arc- she says there will be 4 all together
16.5- "Where Angels Fear to Tread"
Found in Blood Lite
17- One Silent Night
gives A LOT of important info it's like a transition book- it is also confusing because it actually takes place between the last chapter and the epilogue of Acheron
18- Dream Warrior
This is really where it lays out all the new stuff that's happening in the 2nd arc.
18.5- "Shadow of the Moon"
Found in Dead After Dark (Includes: Dark-Hunter, Related Books #18.5). This is helpful to read before Bad Moon Rising.
19- Bad Moon Rising
20- No Mercy
(There's also a series companion that is VERY beneficial, especially since Sherri's DH world is HUGE!!!)
And the Black Dagger Brotherhood reading order is as follows:
Dark Lover
Lover Eternal
Lover Awakened
Lover Revealed
Lover Unbound
Lover Enshrined
Lover Avenged
Lover Mine
(Lover Unleashed, which comes out next year.)
There's also a short story, Father Mine, and a Companion to the series as well.

I don't think there's that many books at my freaking library!! >o<"
Aw, Rose, LOL - don't be intimidated by the number of books in the series :). Believe me, you start reading them and I promise you're going to end up wishing there were far more than there are! The stories, characters, and writing are just plain addictive!

I know exactly what you mean. I've never read much of YA, but what I have has always been a disappointment. Though, shockingly enough (or not so shocking, I suppose, since Sherri is a fantastic writer) the book Infinity was so not the case at all.
In fact, outside of zero sex and toned down profanity, there was absolutely nothing different between her YA book and her mature books. Same level of "difficulty/complication" in her plots, same badass, edgy characters, same everything. I swear that woman doesn't know how to write a bad book!
She writes everything from urban fantasy/paranormal romance to historical romance to SciFi to modern contemporary suspense to Arthurian fantasy! She's effing talented to extreme! LOL

As is, I can't WAIT for you to read her books! I swear, once you get into the series you'll be hooked!
Though, I do warn you that if you start with Fantasy Lover, don't expect TOO much addiction there. I mean, I personally freakin' love that book. However, I have heard a lot of fans complain about it that it isn't "true Dark-Hunter material."
Reason for that is because Fantasy Lover isn't technically a Dark-Hunter novel, it's more a of an initial prequel to the series. In fact, the reason it was published to begin with, rather than Sherri just jumping straight to Night Pleasures, was because she struggled for YEARS trying to get her DH books pubbed. But no one wanted to touch them because they were so different and the paranormal genre in the 80s/90s was essentially dead.
So, since "vampire" was a four-letter-word back then, she "backdoored" her way into getting the books on the market. It's paranormal, but very very light paranormal. As such, when you get to the nitty-gritty badassness that appears from Night Pleasures on out, you'll definitely notice a difference between Fantasy Lover and the rest of the series. Hope that helps!

Thank you! You're going to keep me busy for a while!

Ok, So I have Dark Lover, Fantasy Lover and Dragonswan but I have to get through this STACK of 15 borrowed books before I get to them >:|

*LOL*
y is bella so clumsy?
if u want to be a stupid teen that wants to fall in love with edward, y cant she play hard to get?

That, and as an adult, I don't think it's possible to fall in love with someone, especially someone with such a piss-poor attitude.
I hate bella because she's so like "I suck at everything" and "my life sucks" and then she obbsesses over her stupid boyfriend and how "his face and his body and his soul are PERFECT". She even goes on twice in the first book about his freaking BREATH.
