Yeah, but it's still unfair. Even the wimpy ass fairies would be ashamed to be compared to Edward.

Hell, I think anyone would!

You should read the series, though. They are at least a million times better than twilight. (Not that that's hard.)

Mutt | 98 comments Steph, you said " Well, that's because without her we wouldn't have this crap."

I was actually referring to Smeyer being uable to realise that she's not actually a character in Twilight. The reason Bella has so little character is because SMeyer would have to create a character that wasn't her personally

~ EpicFroggy ~ *Loves Tweedle-Dee!* (bengali208) | 160 comments Ooh you can strike text out! Cool!!

I'm sorry to disagree with you, but Meyer IS a character. I dont know if I'm the only one to who this happens, but when I read the books it's like she's the one talking. Bella and Meyer are one and the same, so yeah, you cant count her as character. And she's also the worst, I might add.

P.S. - To Steph: sorry for ranting about the fairy thing. Sometimes I get a bit out of control.

Abby (toxicsunshine) | 150 comments I hate all the characters in Twilight, except for Vicotoria. She tries to kill both Edward and Bella so I like her. :D Too bad she dies. D:

Exactly! HOLLY WOULD BE PUMMELING YOU TO A PULP RIGHT NOW IF SHE COULD SEE THIS!

message 107: by Keara (new)

Keara (kearachristine) Alright, In my opinion there's only five really good characters in The Twilight Saga;
Jacob,
Victoria,
James,
Leah,
and Rosalie.

They're the only freaking.round.characters.in.this.whole.dang.book.series!

Now, let me explain my reasoning. Jacob [the best one!:] changes throughout the entire series. Edward's all like "Bella you smell good! I SPARKLE and watch you PEE!" Bella's like "Edward, watch me PEE! I LUFF SPARKLY STUFF! I'M A DITZ!" Jacob has ACTUAL emotions.

Victoria's just bada**. Enough said.

Same with James. He's the COOL kind of vampire.

Leah's the same as Jacob. Has Smeyer ever heard of EMOTIONS and DEVELOPMENT?

Rosalie is the ONLY FREAKING SANE VAMPIRE! She's the only one that HATES her existence and realizes she'll NEVER be normal.

~ EpicFroggy ~ *Loves Tweedle-Dee!* (bengali208) | 160 comments ^^ Ditto. XD Also, Sam. He purposefully antagonizes Leah, and what he did to her was wrong, "twu wuv" aside. Plus, he ruined Emily's face. >:( Not cool, brah, not cool.

I-love-green-apples! (I-Love-Green-Apples) | 35 comments Your Friendly Neighborhood Grammar Nazi wrote: "I-love-green-apples! wrote: "•:*:•sтερн•:*:• wrote: "Demon wrote: "Ha! So is a showdown between a werewolf and a vampire.. Sweet.."

Nah, Holly wouldn't do that. But I'm totally in favor of letting her blast Edward to Hades with her neutrino.

And I agree with you about Leah. Jacob was also cool until book 4, when Meyer ruined him by turning him into a pedo.

Sad.

~ EpicFroggy ~ *Loves Tweedle-Dee!* (bengali208) | 160 comments Yeah, I don't blame Jacob for imprinting on Renesmee; that was SMeyer's fault. Which is why I still /kind of/ like Jacob. Plus, he probably has a jetpack! *drooling* JETPACKS.....

Vickie X well i think this is pretty obvious (: lol
EDWEIRD!
1. he sparkles. enough said.
2. he's an insult to the vampire genre
3. he's a stalker and watches girls sleep
4. he sparkles. i want to see him be turned into ashes. not. sparkle.

message 112: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments I agree with green-apples- Jacob was pretty awesome in the first two books, but he started losing his Awesome Factor near the middle of Eclipse, when Stephenie Meyer made him throw himself all over Bella. And then in BD she turned him into a freaky TWOO-WUUUVVV pedo stalker, and then I was angry.

I mean, really? Really? You took one of the only awesome characters in the entire series and completely screwed him up. Really?!

Hey, is there already a topic in this forum about killing the main characters (preferentially slowly and painfully)? Because if there isn't, someone should create one!

Mack Aroney | 190 comments can't you only kill a vampire by burning them and then, like, dumping their ashes in several different oceans?

so i'd burn edward on a stake

and then drown bella in her own blood :D

Ali Nightshade wrote: "I agree with green-apples- Jacob was pretty awesome in the first two books, but he started losing his Awesome Factor near the middle of Eclipse, when Stephenie Meyer made him throw himself all over..."

Ditto

I also hate Bella
1)she's a disgrace to females everywhere
2)"Oh Edward is so beautiful..I don't know why he would choose me....Edward is so....Edward is so..." I've lost count of how many times that line is said by Bella
3)Most of the time, i felt she was only going out with him because she wanted to become a member of the Leeches
4)I'm pretty sure she was an average looking girl with no personality what so ever, so why is every guy suddenly falling for when she comes to forks...Nobody told me the guys of forks were blind.
5)And how come she suddenly has no friends when Edward is around -not counting Alice

I hate most of the characters..the only characters i like are Jasper, Esme,...basically the characters who are non-existent in the books

I like your way of thinking. Especially the "drown in her own blood part". Still, we can be much more creative when it comes to getting rid of the vampires. They have to be killed with fire, yeah, but there are more options besides of burning them on the stake. Here are my favourites:

1 - FLAMETHROWER!
2 - Make Edward swallow a grenade.
3 - Load his Volvo with dynamite and tell him that Bella is inside. Then close the door and get a torch while he is busy looking for her.
4 - Add more...

message 118: by Mack (last edited Mar 25, 2010 10:43AM) (new)

Mack Aroney | 190 comments I vote for making him swallow a grenade. Oh, and maybe we should cover it with some of the leftover blood we drowned Bella in.

message 119: by Keara (new)

Keara (kearachristine) I believe we that we should take Renesmee hostage. Yes, that would destroy both Edward and Bella!

Jacob would be able to recover with me. :D I CALLED HIM FIRST!!!

message 121: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) They all were made equal in their abounding suckiness because none were developed enough to even qualify as being "characters." I really don't even see any of the people within the books as characters, but instead just really badly written dialogue carriers. :|

I agree (but Jacob was still okay). One of the main necessities of a good book is definitely character development, and Twilight had none. The "dialog carriers" were so flawless to begin with that they were just big flaws all by themselves.

The only character development you see is in Emmett's girlfriend (sorry, her name's hard to remember, plus I don't care). She was a real asshole in the beginning but she gets a little better because, remember, she told Bella about her past. (See, no one can give me any BS about how I'm a hater-that-didn't-read-the-series.)

But other than her, there was no character development. Sorry.

Plus, I hate romances from the girl's POV. xP Gross.

message 123: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) Exactly. I'm in complete agreement with you in that, by creating "characters" that lack flaws, you take the humanistic element completely out of the equation. I'm not saying that any and all paranormal themed stories- romance or otherwise- are necessarily trash, because that's not the case. Regardless how "wonderful" a character might be, paranormal or otherwise, there has to be some type of flaw that allows for true conflict and resolution not just within a story, but within a character as well.

As it is, though, I'm one of the haters who refused to read the books. Granted, I did give it an honest shot of 60 pages into the first novel, but junked it after the fact. No, that's not just because it was Twilight. I have a 60-page standard that I give every book. If I'm 60 pages into a story and I'm still miserable, I refuse to finish reading. Wrong or not, life is short, and as such there are far too many wonderful books out there that I could be enjoying instead of wasting my time on crap ones.

As it is, though, I have to give all who've read it and hated it kudos. You have far sterner determination than I, lol.

I happen to love paranormal and historical romance novels- they're my preferred genre actually. However, I hate reading in first person, so that was definitely a major mark against Twilight intially. I think what irritates me more than anything is the fact that now, as a result of Twilight, paranormal romance now has to live down this series. And I highly doubt that will ever happen, because once crap arrives, crap seems to stay :|.

I agree with you on Rosalie having character development, but I liked her much more the way she was before. Her only flaws were hating Bella and being too vain. Yes, it's bad if somebody spends way too much time looking at a mirror, but if hating Bella turns someone into a asshole, them 98% of the girls on this forum are self-confessed assholes. Making her tell her story, protect Bella and then having her drooling over Renesme was the worst thing that Meyer could do to her.

Darn, her character was the only who had absolutely no need of development!

I agree. xDD Plus, I hated Rosalie even when I was still a Twilighter.

The sucky characters in Twilight aren't like the awesome ones in books series such as, oh, Artemis Fowl or Harry Potter. Like, Artemis is a cold, ruthless jerk in the beginning, but he becomes a lot softer and more compassionate in later books. And Harry finds his inner courage and understanding and stuff.

Mack Aroney | 190 comments That would be all fine and dandy if Stephenie Meyer actually OBEYED the rules of vampires. But no, she has do all this stupid stuff like making them sparkle.

Plus, Edward probably only sparkles so Bella can be like, "OMMFG he's liek ten timez sexier nao!!!!!!!!!!11one"

But really, it only made him girlier.

message 131: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) LOL I loved that, Mack! Hilarious!

As it is, though, I have to say that I generally don't have a problem when authors take their own unique spin on myths, legends, and lore. As a matter of fact my favorite author, Sherrilyn Kenyon, is well known for doing just that. For her "vampires" they require souls to live, rather than blood- and Kenyon utilizes the Greek pantheon and her own story to explain the existence of her creatures of the night. So really, I don't have a problem with authors deviating from the rules of vampires and such...but ONLY if they do so with intelligence and logic.

Sparkling vampires does NOT follow that standard :|.

message 132: by Mack (last edited Mar 27, 2010 08:54AM) (new)

Mack Aroney | 190 comments Yeah, I don't have any problems with creativeness and originality, because I'm an aspiring author myself and I am about the most non-compliant person you'll ever meet. So I don't follow any "rules" about fairies or other mythical creatures (part of what I love about Artemis Fowl is Eoin Colfer's 'modern' fairies xDD).

But Meyer just killed it, you know?

message 133: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) LOL Amen, hon! I'm in complete agreement with you on that. Like I said, I'm all for originality, so long as it's legitimate and comes out as being believable rather than a laughingstock!

message 135: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) KHR?...Isn't that, manga or anime? (Can't remember) LOL

As it is, though, the only manga I read is the Dark-Hunter manga series- and only because it's inspired by my favorite author. Otherwise I don't read anything else in that genre. Not because I'm against it or anything- I would read more, if I actually invested some time to look into other series/books.

I can't tell you about Fruits Basket because I haven't read it, but Cirque Du Freak... Darren Shan is one of the best authors EVAR. That series was so awesome it's indecriable.
And I'm currently waiting in agony for the last book in his series The Demonata, and all I can say is this: I did not think ANYTHING could top Cirque Du Freak. I was wrong.
And yet I'm not an obsessed fan-girl like those Twitards... *snicker snicker*

message 139: by Mack (new)

Mack Aroney | 190 comments I'm an anime fangirl, but just one of the characters isn't the only thing that keeps me reading the manga like Twilighters are obsessed with Ed. But the fact that ALL of the characters rock makes [whatever anime series:] awesome.

message 140: by Fangirl Musings (new)

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) While I'm not Manga/Adnima fan-driven, I can definitely relate as far as series obsession. The Dark-Hunter series is absolutely amazing in my opinion, but like you both said, not because of a single character. There are ones I love, of course, but outside of that, the writing, the world building, and the creative juices that flow throughout the series are so well done that one can't help but geek-out over these books :).

message 141: by Mack (new)
