Jacki Mohap (shereadinthesheshed) | 56 comments I know I should really just finish the book, but I am too impatient. I've been re-reading A Breath of Snow And Ashes so that I can start An Echo In The Bone, but it's just taking me too long! I've been looking online for a detailed summary but can't find one...can anyone help me out? What happens in the rest of the book?
**Spoiler**

I'm at the part where Manfred McGillivray tells Claire about Myra and that he has syphillis. What happens from then on? Important things, anyway, that I'll need to remember for An Echo in the Bone.
Thanks so much!

Renee (nightbird) | 334 comments Believe me, ABOSAA is worth finishing. Trust me, you CAN wait to read Echo. Because I dislike Echo so much and ABOSAA is one of my favorites. You get more Jamie and Claire for your buck in ABOSAA than you do in Echo.

Personally, I like to pretend that Echo does not exist and stop my rereading at ABOSAA. So just freakin' enjoy ABOSAA and don't be in such a hurry to get to a lesser book.

Susan (mamasuu) Renee - hahahahaha - like where your head is at. Me too. Echo - p-u. Even the new paperback edition of Echo has a funky (ugly) green cover. Ouch.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 169 comments Aww. Echo wasn't my favorite but I didn't think it was all that bad. Of course I was beyond frustrated with the ending but I thought it was still a great read.

Oh, and to answer Jackie.....I sent you a private message. Check it out!

Sally (larwos) | 30 comments Oh I cant agree about Echo. I just loved it. I adored Snow and Ashes as well. A good idea to reread it first though.
Actually, I think it's good that you're getting bad reports of Echo, because I believe when you get to read it, you wont have huge expectations and it will enchant you. All those characters we haven't seen for years, turning up again - wonderful. My only problem is the cliff hangers and I can even forgive her that now. They'll all be solved with the next one, and at least we are now assured of a next one.

Carolyn | 110 comments I love Dianas work, loved Echo... while not my favorite book, it is still jamie and claire, who cannot fail to intrigue me....there isn't enough of them and there are killer cliff hangers... but Diana, you write like no other - can't wait for the next (2)?? books!

message 7: by Sally (new)

Sally (larwos) | 30 comments I'm wondering if anyone has read the Wilderness series by Sara Donati? I was put onto it as Donati speaks of Claire, Jamie and young Ian and how some of her characters had met up with them. These books are wonderful and the characters endear themselves to you. Sara acknowledges Diana's help and encouragement and in Nathaniel and Elizabeth we find ourselves with a couple whose love is close to as deep and true as Jamie and Claire.

Amy | 51 comments I just finished ABOSAA (last night) and the end tore my guts out. Outlander is my favorite but this was a close second. I haven't started Echo yet but have it and plan on starting it tonight. It kills me to hear that there is not a lot of Claire and Jamie in it... that is why I'm reading the series!!! Hopefully there will be more of them in book 8????? I wonder how I'll respond to Echo....

message 9: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (les2car) | 131 comments When I first read Echo I was a little disappointed and angry -especially at all of the cliff hangars. Then I read the whole series over again and really enjoyed Echo the second time around. I think I read it so fast the first time to get my Claire and Jamie fix that I didn't catch all of it.

Rhonda (Weekendreader) | 6 comments I loved "Into The Wilderness" series. Donati did a wonderful job in keeping the characters organized. She ended the series beautifully and it made me cry. I don't know how Diana plans on ending her series. Not ending it is a little better then having to say good bye to the characters.

Susan | 35 comments Just started Echo (annoyed that I had to buy the BIG paperback, when all my others are the small ones) and I see what you guys mean about missing J & C.

message 12: by Renee (new)

Renee (nightbird) | 334 comments Funny but the main thing I hate about Echo I had a discussion with a lady who was married to a closet gay man and she's also an author. I told her the big problem I had with a certain part of that book and the scenario and she just shook her head and said, "Ohhh, no!" We agreed it was a ridiculous scene. And she's lived it. So, I feel most justified in my problem with Diana and 'that' scene. Not to mention too much LJ and not enough Claire and Jamie.

I suppose Echo is fine if you like LJ. I like LJ in small doses.

Gin (gynh) | 9 comments Oh man I am getting nervous reading all these comments. I am a little over halfway through a breath of snow and ashes. This is the first time I've read the series. I love it but am concerned about Echo now! I accidentally saw a spoiler on here that Claire and LJ hook up! Pardon me...but WTF! I can't keep reading without thinking of it! I hope Dianna G. Knows what she's doing.

Mary G. (nonometoo) | 319 comments Please, give Echo a chance. I guess I'm one of the few who really like it. And, I say it in the present tense, because I'm listening to it now, again. It is a little different, but things would get rather boring if all the books were written in exactly the same way. Also, I like the surprises to be found. The characters are maturing and DG is also maturing as a writer. I find it facinating. And, I hope you do, too. One reading is not enough. I have to read them multiple times to glean all of the information and to find its place in the big picture. I've not experienced another writer like DG. She is remarkable.

message 15: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (les2car) | 131 comments I agree with Mary, you should give Echo a chance and read it with an open mind and decide what you think. I wasn't thrilled with it the first time I read it. I think because my expectations were so different from what it really was. The second time I read it, I was really able to absorb the story and really started to enjoy it.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 169 comments I agree with Mary and Lisa! I loved Echo. Yes, it left us with some cliffhangers and it did frustrate me but Diana is such an amazing writer and I love Jamie and Claire so much that I can forgive a lot. A whole lot, apparantly. ;-)

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 169 comments I didn't think it was boring. A little slow but still interesting. I loved getting to know Will better. I can't wait to read more about him and how he feels about Jamie.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 169 comments Enjoy, Jill. Just be prepared for a HUGE cliffhanger. Join the rest of the club who has to wait for Book 8 before we can breath again. ;-)

message 19: by Gin (new)

Gin (gynh) | 9 comments I just finished ABoSaA. I actually enjoyed this book. Especially after The Fiery Cross...which I found to be a bit repetitive and out of character. Although there were a few plot lines in ABoSaA that were obvious to me. So I guess what I'm saying is that I'm ready to dive into Echo and see where it leads!

message 20: by Mary G. (new)

Mary G. (nonometoo) | 319 comments Go for it Jill & Virginia! I didn't find the first part boring. It starts where ABoSaA left off. Enjoy!

message 21: by Mairicat (new)

Mairicat | 53 comments There'e no way I would have missed reading Echo! All the characters we love plus some new lovable ones. Just a little slow at times then a roller coaster at the end. And what a lot of emotions the end generates - frustration, sadness, anger, relief, anxiety, hope. Diana really got us with this one!

message 22: by Mary G. (new)

Mary G. (nonometoo) | 319 comments I agree. I'm listening to Echo again and having even more emotional reactions than the last few times. I don't know what I was doing while listening before, but there are certain things effecting me much more; humor as well as those you mentioned. So much happening! Love it!
