There is a series of 6 books written by F. Paul Wison that comprise the Adversary Cycle. These books were never mentioned, or referenced in the show LOST. However many themes in these books parallel lost more than any of the books Sawyer reads. Someone who had only seen the first season of LOST would notice similarities between it and the first book of the cycle. If they went back a read The Keep after finishing season 6 they would realize the book parallels season 6 more than season 1.
