Hi! I'm Katie and I currently live in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I'm originally from Arnot, Pennsylvania. The place I want to retire to will be easy as along as I have a lake house and A LOT closer to Pennsylvania.

Whenever we think of Lisa Kay "in her happy place", we now know where (and who with) she'll be spending her time.
I know what you mean, Monica! My husband could live under a rock and not notice that there was no sun. Sigh.

Hey back at ya!
I currently live in Long Beach, CA (SoCal)right near the ocean. I was born in New Jersey, lived for years in Rhode Island, then Vermont. My husband and I are planning split retirement time between SoCal (where my son lives) and the north of France,Bretagne. I'm much closer to retirement than most of you, I suspect, so it's an exciting prospect to be able to do some real planning.
I'm currently living on the coast of Cape Town South Africa ( The very tip of Africa is a 15min drive away)* I'm originally from Pretoria South Africa
* I would like to retire to ... well a Land Rover!! (Then I can drive through africa into europe and take a boat - with my car- to america and drive through that too!!! See the world at my own leisure)
S. Africa in the house. First member from Africa, I believe. :) I love that idea, Deandri! Sounds amazing! I have been bit by the wanderlust bug and LOVE to travel.
LOL! I'd love to travel. *sigh* so much too see and so little time!! Really jealous that you got to travel =D I'm honored to be the first member from Africa and I really hope to see a lot more African's on board as SOS grows.
I'm extremely lucky in that regard, Deandri. Most of our travel has been possible b/c of the Marine Corps. But, I'll take it where I can get it. :)
I grew up in a small town called Naramata in British Columbia Canada. I lived in Surrey, BC Canada for 13 years and now am I am back living in Naramata and loving it. I don't know that I would want to live anywhere else. Visit and vacation, so many places that I would like to go, but as my late husband would say we live a place that others come to vacation.
Hey what am I,, chopped liver? (Lol! Been wanting to use that line forever!). I'm from Ghana! Now all us West Africans feel slighted, :D
Welcome, Deandri!
I live in Northern Ireland (Belfast to be exact) and I'm from there too.I want to retire to somewhere in America or Canada as I hope to move there one day. I love it.
I live in the US, more specifically Asheville, North Carolina. I was born in Florida. As far as retiring, not sure. I still can't figure out where I'd like to live now. My husband and I are both nurses, so we'd like to take an international travel assignment for a couple of years. We just don't know where yet. I'm always up for suggestions though.

I currently live in Lakin, KS (SW Kansas)Used to live in Garden City, KS, which is about 20 miles away
Would like to retire to Florida, or maybe California.
Hey everyone, I'm Paris and I currently live In Seattle, Washington (well technically Issaquah, but sometimes it pains me to say that), which is also where I am from originally.Retirement is so far away at this point that I'm not sure where I'd like to end up, but really I can't picture myself living anywhere but here. In the meantime, I have a ton of places I'd like to visit, so maybe by the time retirement comes along I'll have a really long list of places to move to.
Yeah it does tend to rain a lot here, but I don't mind the rain. In fact, I love a good rain storm, preferrably when it's warm.
I currently live in Indiana. I'm Originally From Indiana.
Retirement is so far away, I can't even see it. :P
Born in Alberta, Canada and no plans to leave anytime soon. I agree with Tai, retirement is so far away it's best not to think about it too much. And the snowstorms here aren't so terrible - they provide a good excuse to curl up with a blanket next to the fireplace and spend all day reading!!
I'm currently living in Australia, in the sunny city of Brisbane :) glad to see there are a few other locals in this group.
Hah! Sunny, what's that! Though today you could be forgiven for thinking it was summer. One of the few days though lately. (from sunny today only Sydney. LOL)
Hi everyone, I´m currently living in a small town called De Rips in the Netherlands. I haven´t thought much about the place where i want to retire. At this moment i would say Australia, but that can change.
Hehe Sandra, we've been getting constant sunshine and heat over on our end. I couldn't live in Melbourne or Sydney, it's cold by my standards hehe.Merith, that sounds like an interesting town. Australia is a beautiful place, especially to retire :)
Hey all ;)Where are you living now?
Brunei Darussalam. [It's a tiny kingdom on the Borneo Island, in Southeast Asia] It's one of those countries that people don't know much about. :D
Where are you originally from?
Philippines. I moved to Brunei when I was 3. :)
Where would you like to retire to?
Hobbiton, New Zealand. If they'll let me. Haha.
Renee, you're just a bit north of Aus, so we know where you are :DOthers of course may not :)
Not to say we know a lot of the lifestyle though, never hear too much from there, just princes etc and the wildlife.
Hi Sandra! *claps* For knowing its location, I'm giving you a packet of gummy bears. XDPeople usually ask me what it's like to live in a country ruled by absolute monarchy. The royal family is pretty popular and the king/sultan travels quite a bit. Before Bill Gates, he was the richest man in the world (he also has a huuuge car collection). But he's a good king and we don't pay any taxes so the lifestyle is pretty laid back. :) Religion plays an important role in Brunei so that's why we don't get much action/fun by way of nightlife (no alcohol, no clubs). About 70-80% of Brunei is covered by forests so that would explain the wildlife, haha. There's actually a Group page on Facebook for "I grew up in Brunei and we did not live in trees" XD
You live in Australia? Awesome! I'm a huge fan of koalas (which is one of the reasons why I want to visit). Last year, one of my office mates gave me a souvenir from his trip there. It was one of those kangaroo scrotum pouches. Of all the things to get me! Hahaha
Very cool! Love learning about new spots around the world. Sultan ... sounds so cool. No taxes is nice. Welcome, Renee!
I do love me some koalas too, also known here in Aus as drop bears. LOL. Kangaroo scrotum pouches ... I'm assuming that's a touristy thing. ROFLMAO.
*waves to Steph* I agree, no taxes is nice.. but only if the country can support itself :) Brunei has its own oil & gas industry. ;) Petrol here is super cheeeeap. Sandra, you don't own one? :O And here I was thinking you could tell me more about it and how it's supposed to bring me luck (With men, I hope. Haha!) p/s: Why are koalas called drop bears? :/
Because they live in the trees and the early settlers thought they were a species of bear. So unwary tourists are told they are drop bears and to be careful. LOL.
LOL! I had my picture taken with a koala at the zoo (I think) in AU. LONG claws though. Wouldn't wanna piss one off by stealing their eucalyptus leaves. LOL!

Hello again :)
I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and originally from Rio de Janeiro as well
Where I would like to retire? *thinks*
Being a musician, I don't really want to retire, but I would love to move to a small cottage in the Scottish Highlands, with mountains and the sea to relax and inspire my writing and music.
Yes VERY big difference. I really love there (had a chance to visit a few years ago) and part of my soul is still there.
