Where in the World?
I live in Bristol, England ( about an hour Wales)I am originally from India, was born and brought up there.
As far as retirement is concerned, have'nt thought that far yet but it will be somewhere where it is not as cold as here and not as hot back at home.
I live in Banja Luka, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I was born and raised here, and decided to stay and study, not to go anywhere else, but I visit my sisters often in New York and Vienna, so I can say that I'm a child of the three cities :)As far as retirement goes, I don't even know where I'm going to work yet so that hasn't even crossed my mind. Wherever life leads me, I guess :)
Regina, and the numbers only reflect those that have commented on this thread. So there would be plenty more from all over.
Exactly. Maybe one day I'll scope out everyone's profile and get a true tally. But ... we're almost at 500 members (YAY!!) and that'd be a lotta scopin'. :)
If anyone's up for that job, you are! But...it would seriously cut into reading time...It's really fun "meeting" people from all over!
LOL! Very true (on the time cutting). ;)Most definitely! I updated the list yesterday and added quite a few from US and a couple internat'l as well. Love it!
Hello all!I currently live in Vancouver, WA, which is essentially part of the Portland, OR metro area. Suz and I are neighbors! Beaverton is the best for author tours...yeah Powells. :)
I was born in Oregon and grew up in the rural NE corner. Lovely mountainous region with weather much like Denver, CO. (I actually miss the snow...sick in the head, yes.)
My husband is a sailor through and through. His first job was sailing catamarans in the Virgin Islands for tourists. :) So in a moment of great self-sacrifice , I agreed that we would retire as sailors. We have our eye on a small town just east of here on the Columbia river to have as a permenant address when we want to see family and moor the boat, but for the most part, the world will be our oyster!
If I get my way, we will be spending TONS of time in Scotland (my husband's name is Malcolm...maternally a MacBride) and the Mediterranean. (Then all the spots in between.) Watch out Europe! :)
The spouse wants to go back to St. Croix since he lived there for years. Then of course, since 2 visits were not enough, he wants to go back to Australia.
We are basically retiring on Planet Earth! :)
Welcome, Dana! And, I'm SO jealous! Although I get incredibly sea sick, so not sure how much fun I'd end up having, but WOW! So much fun!! Enjoy, be safe, invest in a satellite phone and always stay with the boat if you're stalled. LOL! Just watched "The Reef" - sharks freak me out.
Don't be too jealous since we have to make it happen first. It sounds great though, huh? I can't wait!!!You never know ladies...I may stop by and say, "Hi!" My husband was also in the US Navy and loved his stops in Asia. You both are in Japan, correct? I'm soooo there!
Give me just a sec...I need to finish raising my kids and I'll be right over! ;)
I currently live in Bucharest, Romania, and was born in a smaller city west of here.I've already seen most of Europe and would like to be a travelling retiree, my cousin met this great couple when she was in India who used to spend 5-6 months in India and the rest of the year back in Germany so they had warm weather all year round, plus it was really cheap.
But that's still a long time in the future.:)
Miss, Angi & I were in your neighboring Moldova for a few years. I never did make it to Romania, but did get to Ukraine once.
LOL...not exactly mainland, but on one of the "main" islands...do love being close to the sea! Swing on over here, Dana, if you ever sail close by. I'd love to pop into Miss' neighborhood, too! Love the idea of being a traveling retiree!
Yes I loved when I heard about their lifestyle, they were in really good shape too, eating healthy and doing yoga, plus running every morning for 10 km, I mean I can't even do one :), they had zero stress and looked at least 20 years younger.

Hi, I'm a highlander who has found herself living in the North East of Scotland, Aberdeenshire. Can't really imagine living anywhere other than Scotland. Would like longer days in the winter and better weather, but apart from that I really like Scotland.
I would though like to travel loads when I retire. There are loads of parts of Europe that I haven't seen yet and would love to check out Castles in Eastern Europe.
Hi, Caroline! I would love to visit Scotland! How exciting! I've lived in Moldova (between Romania and Ukraine) and gotten to see some amazing castles there and in Germany. <--- LOADS of castles! Hope you get to see them one day too. :)
Hi Caroline! I love Scotland! I once spent a couple of weeks travelling around the country and visited Edinburgh a few times and always had the best time. I love wandering through castles and ruins and obviously had a lot of opportunities there.
