Jack Fernard Lived in PA, OH, MI, TN, IL, VA. Been through every time zone from Hawaii to Saudi. Finally settled in Kzoo...and have no intention of going anywhere anytime in the near future : )

Josie | 1967 comments I googled! I was so intrigued with where Kzoo could be located!

Sorry...I've got to stop abbreviating. It's Kalamazoo, Michigan -- recently famous for it's crazy Uber drivers and angry, bicycle-hating rednecks.

Christie (cibarra) Where are you living now? Texas
Where are you originally from? Virginia
Where would you like to retire to? Somewhere in Arizona

Sasha Fuqua-Ball (sfuquaball) | 16 comments I'm a Texas girl through and through. Never lived any where else. I have this absurd fantasy of living somewhere it snows a lot....although in reality i'd probably starve to death because there's no way I could get around with a foot of snow on the ground.

message 663: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I keep watching Hawaii Life, and all the people immigrating from the snow states in the US is amazing, but totally understandable.

For me, I've had enough snow if its just one day, but it takes at least a day to drive to snow & a day back, and only in the depths of winter.

Shannon Drawe | 4 comments I was born and raised in Kentucky, but have lived in Las Vegas NV for the past 16 years and it's hard to imagine leaving the constant sunshine and cushy cost of living...

message 665: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments We really enjoyed Carson City, NV when we stayed there. And, as a BIG fan of roulette, I love the vacays in LV. That's one of the states on our "We could settle/retire there" list. :)

message 666: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (ycomtois) | 4 comments Hello!! I'm Yvonne :)

I am born and raised in MN

I have no idea when I want to retire to, I would like to travel more first. I don't know if I would retire in the south (more poisonous animals and bugs). During winter in MN the bugs die and spiders and snakes usually can't survive outside in our winters. hahaha

I love animals, just would rather not.

message 667: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Hi Yvonne! I cannot imagine those below freezing winters in MN. Not for me. No way.

message 668: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Even going through our record heat wave in January, more days over 40C (over 100F) & the nights were so hot and the humidity; I wouldn't trade it for below freezing weather. As Steph said "Not for me. No way."

message 669: by Jee Yeong (new)

Jee Yeong | 4 comments I'm Jee Yeong Park. I was born and am currently living in South Korea. I want to retire in NYC because I lived 4 years there.

message 670: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Hi Jee! NYC always seems so alive on the TV, but then so does Seoul. It was a real eye opener when you had the Olympic Games.

message 671: by FangFan (new)

FangFan (fangfan1) | 8 comments Hi, y'all!

I'm originally from a small town in Virginia, just about an hour southwest of Richmond. However, I spent part of my childhood in Virginia and part (high school and college) in central Florida.

I currently reside in lower Alabama, not far from the Florida state line.

As far as retirement goes, I'm torn between Virginia and central Florida. Florida, because I hate cold weather, and Virginia, because it has such gorgeous scenery, no matter the season. Ideally, if I were independently wealthy, I would divide my time between the two states. Either way, I'm definitely a born and bred southerner.

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Where in VA? I'm from there too :) Born in Newport News, raised in Mathews and Richmond. Lived in Richmond, Stafford and Arlington. My hubby and I still have lots of family there.

I'm from the little town of Blackstone in Nottoway county. As well as being about an hour from Richmond, it's also fairly close to Petersburg and Colonial Heights. Fort Pickett is located just outside of town. It's a pretty, quaint little town, with lots of lovely, old Victorian houses.

I've never been to Newport News, but my parents lived there for a while before I was born. My father worked as a civilian firefighter at Fort Monroe.

I think what I miss most about Virginia are the glorious spring flowers and the gorgeous fall colors. Then again, Virginia in the summer is just so wonderfully green. The snow in winter is pretty (especially if you don't have to drive in it) and never very deep by Northern standards, but I'm just not a fan of cold weather. And like most Southerners, I really suck at driving in snow. :D

AliciaJ | 781 comments I'm from Humboldt County, CA. Born and raised, and although I'm desperate to travel around the world, I'll probably end up retiring here as well. But on the other hand, it's a beautiful place to live, so it's all good.

Sandra Bildstein (quiet_riot) | 2 comments I'm living in Hamburg, north of Germany and come originally from a small coastal town, also in northern Germany. If I could chose a place to retire it would most likely be the scotish highlands even though I never have been there.
