I'm in Sydney and love it, *best place in the world* of course. LOL.
Give me an idea of what you're thinking & I can tell you your best options :)))

What's Sydney like?

Sydney has plenty of beaches etc and national parks, great art galleries, Sydney Opera House, concerts etc etc. Population of Sydney is about 4.5 Million.
I suggest you check out the Sutherland Shire which includes Cronulla, outskirts southern Sydney rather than north which is even pricier. (applies whether renting or buying, closer to the city prices go up) http://www.sutherlandshireaustralia.c...
Your other best option could be SE Qld (Gold Coast), which is just below Brisbane. The weather would be just a bit warmer than Sydney and they have all the same stuff except the SOH. LOL. Just be careful cause they had a major flood (one in 100 yrs type) last year up that way. Population of Brisbane is 2.2 Million.

Melbourne is about a 1 - 1 1/2 hr plane ride south of Sydney :)

Belinda, I'm definitely not into AFL, give me rugby league any day. LOL

I was born in Orlando, FL but I call NC home.
I went to college in Illinois and am now back home :)
And where would I retire to? I don't really know...Maybe be a traveling retiree because there are so many places I want to go...lol :D

I'm live in Sweden, I am from Sweden and when I retire I'd like to stay but travel to warm places in the winter! It's already freezing here!

I'm was born in Vienna, Austria (Mozart, ... and no there aren't any kangaroos around) and still live here.
I'd love to retire to somewhere warm but not hot and where the winters are without snow ;-)

Just the word Vienna, and I start humming waltzs :D

I was born in North Carolina.
Currently live in Tennessee.
DH was 22 years in the US Army and during that time we spent time in Nurnberg Germany and Schweinfurt Germany as well as lots of towns in Georgia USA. I totally love Germany, and if all things were equal, I would definitely love to be able to split my "retirement" years between the US and Germany, with lots of side trips to places like England, Scotland, Wales, Australia...and you get the picture I am sure!

Where I'm From: A little town between Victoria & Corpus Christi, TX
Where I'd Like to Retire: Somewhere cool and quiet, with lots of trees...and a Butler. ;)

Somewhere cooler sounds good to me as we both head into hot summers.

Oh, you should! It's a beautiful country with lots and lots of stuff to see. :)
