What Are You Currently Reading?
Trying hard to read Coming Back. While I usually love her mysteries, this is a multi-perspective thing that is driving me nuts--every chapter is 4-5 pages long and told from a different person's viewpoint. Soon I'm going to have to start a whole thread to rant on the topic. I think authors must get bored, or something, or are they just trying to put something out fast to capitalize on success?
Kevin wrote: "Just started on the Hunger Games after randomly finding a copy at the library today."Ooh, lucky find! Enjoy :) I loved it.
Finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire yesterday. The series just keeps getting better. Then I started reading The Strain. It has really grabbed my attention right from the beginning.
Just finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Had a bit of a slow start for me but once I got into it, really enjoyed the rest.Looking forward to getting Mockingjay from the library, still several down on the hold list but so far the most entertaining "new" series/authors I've read this year.

you're reading Harry Potter for the first time?? I envy you that magic. Such an experience.
I just finished Academ's Furyand decided to try out a Dresden File before carrying on with the series - I started on Storm Front this morning. But then I discovered - woot woot! - that my library reservation for The Wise Man's Fearhas arrived. I have to get started on this, I am so excited about it!
Husband has been duly warned not to expect any dinners for the rest of the week ;-)

Niiice! WMF is excellent, though I did drop it on my foot once, and had a bruise for a week. It should come with a carrying strap.

Let me know how that works out for you, Snoozerider. I tried it with my kids and it didn't go over well at all.

I'm jealous too! To be reading it all for the 1st time...
^I'm reading Kushiel's Chosen right now.I like the fact that even though with the content, it could've been really trashy (*cough True Blood series *Cough), it's not.
I so hope Phedre n Joscelin will get together in end (Looking for romance in Fantasy). Don't tell me if it's not happy ending.
Starting the first book in the Magicians Guild trilogy by Trudi Canavan. About a third of the way through and liking it very well so far.

I love Phedre and Joscelin too.
My major problem with romance books is you know the hea is coming. I like the worry and hoping. Even if it drives me nuts while reading. But it can be worth it. Or it can cause extreme anger.
Not telling what emotion this series caused...
Tonight I would be reading Beyond the Shadows, but I'll be too busy attending a Stevie Nicks concert for FREE, and perhaps meeting her after the show. I think it's worth trading in a little reading time. ;-)
Traci wrote: "To continue with the Kushiel's Legacy books I'm about to start Kushiel's Justice."You are at Kushiel's Justice already?? Boy you're fast, I'd have taken a break from the Kushiel world by then! So far what do you think, Imriel or Phedre??
Phedre. Definitely. No contest. Wellllll....actually Joscelin. No contest. If I were being completely honest. :)I'm reading straight through because I have found if I take a break I don't go back or when I do I forget important details. So I'm trying a new plan.

I love Joscelin. Hands down my favorite, priss that he is. :-D But other than Joscelin I heart Imriel and his love story. Phedre was/is being pulled in too many different directions in order to have a comfortable love. I felt that I watched Imriel learn to fall in love and I LOVED that. Sooooo heart their relationship (view spoiler)

And the Naamah trilogy is... hrrrm. Loved the first one, despite a few issues, but the next two books were iffy and kinda boring in places. ._.
Yeah I agree. I have the first of the Naamah series but I didn't even finish it. I guess I missed the old characters too much as they don't even show up at all.
Lady Danielle "The Book Huntress" wrote: "I'm listening to Blackbringer. Very good so far."I just bought Blackbringer recently. I really like Laini Taylor's YA novels so thought I'd give the Dreamdark series a try. I hope to get started soon.
I really enjoyed Blackbringer. Haven't read Silksinger 'cause it never came out in paperback. Unfortunately I've heard the publisher didn't want to continue the series.
I like how she mixes faeries with djinn. It didn't seem like it would work but it does. Too bad about them not continuing the series.I have Lips Touch: Three Times, which I have heard is really good. I plan to buy Daughter of Smoke and Bone too.
Carol wrote: "Oh, psh, Chelsea, Stevie Nicks. Just listen to Leather and Lace while you read. ;)"Psh nothing! She was AWESOME! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I hope you read them soon, they're so good! :)
One more to go. And then, finally, onto some(what)thing else. Started Kushiel's Mercy. I don't hate the Imriel books but I'm not enjoying them as much as the Phedre.
Hi Dustin, how are you liking it? This is actually a re-read for me but I read it so long ago I can barely remember anything about it.
Hello everyone, how's the weekend going? I am currently reading Hawkspar by Holly Lisle. I've read her 'Secret Texts' books and enjoyed the first 2 but got a bit bored of the whole animal secret society bit. Looking forward to this one though. I'm only a few pages in but hope it'll be a good plane read.
Taking a tiny break from fantasy - currently reading A Painted House by John Grisham (won from Goodreads last month, not sure what I think of it yet) and The Catcher in the Rye (a "classic" I never got to 'til now).
What do you think of The Catcher in the Rye? I read it in school and I think I was the only student in my class that hated it.
I don't mind it so far! I'm halfway through and I can see it getting tedious, but it hasn't gotten to that point yet.
I'm starting with Fool's Errand today. Thought it would be nice change from Kushiel's world (Til I get my hands on Kushiel's Avatar)

I'm the opposite - I thought the first two books were pretty meh, but I loved Mockingjay."
Isn't it funny how people can have such different tastes? Glad you liked Mockingjay Valerie. I have spoke to a lot of people that liked it as well.
