For the reasons you list that you dont' like him. :)

I don't understand straight people.

Yes, lol. He's so fragile and human looking. I love his voice and his pokey hair and his neck and his long arms.

My favorite comment of the day!

message 55: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Ok here's an embarrassing admission. The only movie where I really found him appealing as a romantic lead was Vally Girl.

I loved his googly eyes and pointy hair when he used to play quirky roles. I hate him now.

What about gay men who find him attractive? Do they confuse you too?

message 57: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Yes, they would. If such a person existed.
(I am now e-mailing my friend Carlton for the gay male perspective).

Please take him, Kevin Costner, John Travolta, and David Spade and dismiss them from the Hollywood hills...

I like Ryan Reynolds and Luke Wilson pre weight gain and just to throw you off, I don't find Johnny Depp attractive but I do enjoy his movies, lol"

smetchie | 4034 comments I can't imagine a mammal who wouldn't find Ryan Reynolds attractive.

I would move to whereever Kevin Costner, John Travolta, Will Farrell, and Nic Cage are banished and have their babies.

I'm peeking in the package too. I don't actually see the intelligence. He just makes me uncomfortable. To each his/her own, I guess.

Phil | 11837 comments Why is everyone checking out Nick Cage's package? And who is Ryan Reynolds?

Here he is Phil, you're welcome ladies.

Yay, Bun. That's what I like about him too. Thanks for being my words.

And can everyone else see Jim's pictures? I can't see anything he's posted today or yesterday.

I just really enjoyed / hated him in one of the many many cowboy movies Sweeter has subjected me and Leah to this month.

message 69: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Oh, he's the guy from "Waiting..." Now I know.

message 70: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I can't see Jim's pictures either, although I have a mental image of Ryan Reynolds. ;) Very positive! Kevin Costner... he is good in sports movies/romantic comedy but he was dreadful in Robin Hood, the Postman etc. Nick Cage, what Sarah Pi said sums it up.

message 71: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments I like Kevin Costner when he uses a southern accent like in Tin Cup. I find him attractive in that movie.

Did you see The Magnificent Seven, Sallers? Why is Sweeter on a cowboy movie kick?

message 73: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Pizza experiment #2...this one was better because

1) I brushed on the sauce, and didn't use nearly as much,
2) The dough rose more, but I still ended up using close to double the amount the recipe said I would:

I found an elaborate dough recipe in a pizza cookbook I might try, too...but slow improvement...thanks for all your help, people...

pizza experiment #2

I can't see Jim's picture today either, I'll see if I can fix it.

Looks like a great pizza RA.

message 75: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
My dough started out like your dough, RA. It honestly took me a few score of pizza before my dough rose enough to split. Which is fine. Just keep doing it. IT tastes fine, it is just heavier crust now than it will be later. Eventually you'll figure out your own system for the heat of the water, the sprinkling of the yeast, the mixing of the flour, and the temperature of where you set the bowl to rise.

We had home made pizza's for dinner tonight. The best one was a vegetarian.

The Ingredients were as follows.
Pizza tomato base sauce
Feta Cheese
Roast capsicum
Fresh tomatoes
Baby spinach leaves
Mushrooms
Kalamata olives
Toped with mozzarella cheese

It was scrumptious. we also had the traditional bacon, cabanossi, mushrooms etc, but the vegie pizza was a stand out.

message 77: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Gail! We had homemade pizza for dinner too! I can't figure out the time difference, but it was Saturday night for me. My pizzas on the grill have now been perfected and I'm so pleased. I finally have something* I can cook when people come over for dinner. Does this mean I'm actually a grown-up now? Freaky.

*There's one other thing I can cook but you have to like vegetables and not everyone does.

message 78: by [deleted user] (new)

Our pizza was Sunday night dinner. What is the other thing you cook? We love vegetables.
Age is a state of mind, there really is no need to grow up and get old. :D

message 79: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments The other thing is sort of a pasta veg thingy. I'll describe it because it's easy and so fucking delicious. You saute some crushed garlic in a TBS of olive oil in a sauce pan until fragrant. Then you add sliced zucchini, sliced red onion, peeled/seeded/chopped tomato, fresh basil, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper, chicken stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until done. Then you put that over rigatoni and cover with a TON of grated fresh parmesan. It doesn't sound like all that but it is so good. Every time I make it I eat until I look pregnant.

message 80: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Gretchen have you ever tossed in some heavy cream or some (soft) goat cheese at the end of making the sauce? Or maybe a little feta, crumbled. There is always room for more cheese.

this made my stomach rumble. just reading.

message 82: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Cynthia, no I haven't but I can't see how heavy cream could ever hurt. I'll give that a shot! However, what I love about it is how fresh and light it seems. Of course once I eat 17 helpings, probably not.

Gretchen It would not need very much cream at all, maybe even a few tablespoons, but it might help the delicious sauce cling to the pasta in a lovely way.

I saw this one restaurant cooking show where the chef used the same pasta water over and over all night long because he said it added so much flavor. Or was it texture? Something. But he was a well-known dude so I figured he knew whereof he spoke.

I hope your frozen pizza's are better than the cardboard that they sell here. I would rather have vegemite on toast. Hmmmm, vegemite on toast sounds pretty good at the moment. I'm hungry!

message 91: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments yes, with sauce and fake-a-roni. easy though

message 92: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i agree. too much sodium in most easy food. seems like i am not hungry until late when i finally slow down and then i am too tired to do something good and worthwhile. think i will make a jalapeno omelet tonight though

Ha ha. No, Australians truely love vegemite and don't understand why no one else does.

::ear to ear grin::

Joanne (bonfiggi) A really good home made biscuit dough is a great thing. Rolled thin, pizza, sweetened and flavored, scones, filled with apples, cinnamon, sweet rolls, etc. Dumplings, and cobblers too.
George Jones sang that his father hated biscuits in a rolled up can. I hate them too.
