If I had a bunch of basil growing, I would start experimenting with ingredients to make a basil martini. But the smoothies would probably be more healthy....

Sarah | 13814 comments Friday night's smoothie also had a whole lot of vodka in it. Should I not call it a smoothie at that point?

How do you make berry-lemon basil smoothies? I really want.

I second that.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My neighbor has cinnamon basil in his garden. I've heard of other varieties of basil, but not this kind before seeing his... but it's most definitely in the basil family - gorgeous reddish purple and definitely a cinnamony frangrance note and taste to it.

You call it what you want to call it.

Youndyc | 1255 comments Cinnamon basil! That could make a great drink ingredient.

Just checking in. No sign of the recipe yet. :(

Sarah | 13814 comments OK, for the record regular basil makes for a good berry smoothie too, but not as good as lemon. Also, I've made it fifteen different ways and they are all good.

I put in some ice, then tear up some basil leaves, then put in a whole lotta berries (strawberry or blueberry or blackberry or any combination thereof). If making it for someone with a sweet tooth, add ice cream or frozen yogurt; if not, add regular yogurt. Or not - I forgot the yogurt once and it was still good. Add a little soy milk or juice or alcohol. Blend.

Youndyc | 1255 comments I think I had lemon basil today. We bought fresh basil today at the market to make caprese, but i twasn't the sweet basil that I'm used to and it had a sharper flavor. Still good, but caprese is best with sweet basil.

A little, but I love chickpeas and I love tahini - but I hate hummus. I can't explain it.

I love basil and pesto.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I still love basil as much as I did several days ago... possibly even moreso.
