Do you lose the book you're reading ever? What's your strategy for searching? And doesn't that drive you f--king bonkers?

I read the title and thought hell RA you have three kids, you don't need a book.
As I was packing to go to Houston, I was VERY careful to pack my book - I didn't want to leave it behind... so I thought. When I got there, I went on a MAD search for it... looked everywhere and didn't find it. I was SO bummed and even considered going around to bookstores to buy another copy.
When I got home, it wasn't where I assumed I must've left it.
Wanna know where it was?
Hidden behind two large folders and note pads in the large front pocket of my suitcase.
I found it the night I returned home.
It really sucked to know it was with me the whooole time, especially since my laptop pooped out on me while I was there.

I lose my book sometimes. It pisses me off. I stomp around the house shouting until my husband finds it for me.

OMG. Okay, I have so many books and no organizational skills whatsoever, and this usually becomes a problem when someone wants to mooch a book from me because I can't find a damn thing. They never want the books that are right in front of me, they want the ones I've forgotten about and have thrown somewhere.I just look for them, and sometimes they turn up, sometimes they don't.

Yes, I have these insane ideas that books should be grouped into categories, like all the fiction books could be in one place, see, and then you could put them on that shelf in order of oh, say, the author's last name. And you could have ANOTHER completely different shelf for your nonfiction books, like all your cookbooks together. Now, nonfiction, you might want to put in order by title, which is nonstandard, but appeals to the practicality in me...
I'm feeling very excited about that idea! :)
i met a very very cool and pleasant 80+ yr old lady today at the library (Mrs. Norris) who chatted with me about all the current and popular authors and books. she lamented about romance books with no plot that were all about "sex, sex, sex". we both are book junkies and collectors. serendipity.

where's that "like" button?

Hmmmm I have my fiction books categorised as well, Classics, Fantasy, General modern, Never to be read again. All categories are then found in alphabetic order. Yep, I probably need psychiatric help!
i'm the opposite of organized, but i do know exactly which books i own. which is how i know i lost a book :( not a book i would read again soon, but a book i bought and read once, and should be with my other books. maybe i will examine old pictures of my bookcases to see when i lost the book.
