omg you just reminded me im late to give my books back!I go there sometimes and when i finish reading the book or when the time is over i go back
if a book i want to reead is available in the library and im sue im not going to reread it, i get it from there. if i really like a ilibrary book, i buy a copy.
you are right. the newer books are more difficult to find. i request things online from other library branches.
The library can be a fun place sometimes. If I don't have anything on hold then I'll just roam around and pick a few random books and bring them home.
Leonor, my books are late right now, too. They are in the car for me to drop off today.
I do like to read the book from the library and if I hate the book then I'm glad I save 15 bucks and if I loved the book then I add it to my buy book list to get so I can have it to re-read when ever I would like. Soulless , Beautiful Creatures, and City of Bones were recent library books that I loved and now have sitting on my shelf :)

yeah but you have read yours, i completely forgot, with my english books arriving...a least its short
My library has a lot of the newest releases, there are just waits. So it will tell me online if the book will be in when it is published and I put my name on the list so I can be the first one to read it. :D My public library is made up of about 6 different libraries in the city and if I put a hold on a book they will ship it to the location closest to me. I love it there! I like to go and sit even if I'm not going to read. It's so quiet and there are no kids climbing all over me. So I take my laptop and I sit in a little cubicle facing the window and I write and day dream. Its where I go to relax and think in silence.
The college library has those oversized super comfy chairs that you can sink into. Needless to say, I only get a few pages read before I am fast asleep. Good thing I have preset alarms before all of my classes :)
I volunteer at a library but it is not my home library. I actually prefer to buy books. My library in my county is not very good. I can't get the new releases until they have been out six months. I can't even put an advance hold on them. I haven't been to a college library in a while.
I just started to go to the library again because the library in my home town is really inconviently located (well kinda it's down town but the parking is weird and I just didn't like dealing with it) The library in my new town I really like but I don't spend a lot of time there because my fiance doesn't like to go and he is almost always with me! But I love being able to put books on hold and save the money. I have only re-read one book in my life so as much as I want to buy books (and still will) the library makes more sense because it's freeee!
I am kinda hoping that I will get a job in a library one day. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
I am a librarian, so I definitely use the library a lot. It is good, because I do get first dibs on new books, and since I order the YA books, and I love to read YA, it is a good deal all around. The library I work for actually is great at ordering new books, so even customers don't really have to wait that long. I tend to buy most of my books second hand, only if I am really interested in them.
Sara do you have any suggestions for going back to school to get your master's in Library Science? Of course with lots of free money and no GRE? :)
Jencey, the GRE wasn't that bad. :)I LOVE our local library, and use it a ton. I love being able to request books, and I love the website where I can go renew all my books with just a click. I use my TBR as a "shopping list" and then peruse until I've got 5 or 6 books and then happily go home with my awesome stack. I'm terribly greedy when I go, and I'll end up renewing my stack a few times usually, but I DO return the books as soon as I've read them. So I leave with a huge stack, and return them one by one...then go back for a return trip and start all over again!
Today is support your library day...or something of the sort. I use the library at least every other month. I really love to buy a book, but the wallet likes the library. Plus I can "test out" a book at the library and its no big deal if I don't like it.
i often find really good reads on the shelf by accident. i try to keep my list with me at all times of my TBR books.our library also sends out list of upcoming or new releases for genres that you can specify to receive on their website. i love it.
That would b great if our library sent out news letters with new release book list.
I also love the click and renew option especially if I'm busy.

Another thing I really appreciate about our library is that with books, the due date is more of a suggestion. They don't fine you unless the book is like a month overdue.
We get fined for everyday late. Oops. But they only make us pay a quarter at a time if we don't the full amount. I can usually find change floating in my car if I really need to. I'm not much for carrying money on me. Otherwise, I'll spend it.
Our late fee's you get charged .15 cents a day but you can have the books for 2 or 4 weeks and I haven't kept one late yet. Also have the check to re-new option so it's pretty easy :) I think I won't like it if the due date was more like a suggestion in some cases, like if I was on a waiting list for it because it shows when it's due on that
the late fee at our library is about .30 cents a day and like 75% of the time the website is down for repair so we have to return our books on time
our late fees are .10 a day after two weeks. i also know one of the librarians pretty well, so she typically will renew without my asking and also clears fees for me all of the time.she gets a gift at christmas.
i too am friends with a librarian, she works at the library in my school, and since i am part of her book club and the battle of the books, i never get any fees at all
to cut it short, the competition is basically trivia about twenty books u and a group of people from ur school read and u earn points. the schools with the highest points win
i have a friend that is the sponsor of her daughter's team. they did really well this year. i would be interested in starting a chapter at my school.

do you prefer to check out books as opposed to buying them? which books will you get from the library? which will you buy? how do you decide?
