Also I do love Harry Potter and Demonata but I have only read the first 3 Harry Potter and the first 6 Demonata. So I like both series I just am only as far as the books that I listed.
You might like the Book Thief by Markus Zusak, the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, and the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.
FINISH HARRY POTTER!!!City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass by Cassie Clare - by the books you said you like I think you'll definitely enjoy this series!!
Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines, Looking for Alaska and Will Grayson, Will Grayson all by John Green
I second the Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty (The Jessica Darling Series - 5 books)
Amanda, you've got a great list going there. But since you're looking for some more young adult fantasy books to read, here are three that I'd recommend for you to check out.
Max and the Gatekeeper by James Todd Cochrane. It's cut from the same cloth as Harry Potter in the sense that it features a teenage boy who discovers he has magical powers. But the storyline is completely original featuring elements like mixing technology and magic. One thing I enjoyed about this book is that a young boy and girl take the lead role. I won't give away the story. But Max and the Gatekeeper is a really epic book that I found a lot of fun to read. The sequel The Hourglass of Souls has been released, so you can roll right into it after diving into the first book.
Another young adult fantasy book I highly recommend, especially to girls who are tired of boys getting all the action, is Persephane Pendrake and the Cimaruta by Lady Ellen. Whereas Harry Potter is a boy-wizard, Persephane is a teenage-witch. There's lots of humor and action and interesting characters in this book. One of the things that makes this book unique is that there is some time time-traveling taking place in the story. It's done really well in the book and adds drama to the way the story unfolds. Persephane and the Cimaruta reminds me of Harry Potter in that there is lots of magic and fun stuff going on. But like HP, it also has an engrossing storyline with the evil enemy that Persephane has to defeat. Again, I won't give away the story. But this book took me by surprise when I read it. I really suggest you check it out. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Persephane-Pend...

I didn't like the Giver to much it was okay (I rated it two stars) I think everyone should read it but normally I like cliff hanger endings but I think that's what put me off with this book the most was the ending. It may sound weird but one of the most important parts of a book to me is the ending.
I think I want to read or have read almost all the books you listed:) Thanks I'll have to check out the ones that I didn't have listed as a to-read.
I totally agree with you about the ending of The Giver, as does almost everyone that was in my adolescent lit class in college. :P I don't mind ambiguous endings if they're done well but in The Giver it annoyed me.

I think it is a book everyone should read but I didn't like the ending. I did read Gathering Blue (the 2nd one) it didn't tell what happened after the Giver but it was much better.

I really like Young Adult books but am fine with adult too. My favorite genras are Horror (or the varitaions of it like mystery, thriller, etc.) and Historcal Fiction. I like non-fiction books that have to do with the Paranormal or history. I look forward to some great recommendations:)
