Unfortunately, I can't blame Lutawolf. This one is all me. Every time someone mentions rubber ducks I flash back to all those hours watching Sesame Street as a kid. :S

Anne, I don't know what other conclusion we're supposed to draw. Have you seen the whole lyric to the rubber ducky song? I just about choked when I came across this bit:

"Oh, every day when I, make my way to the tubby
I find a little fellow who’s cute and yellow and chubby!
Rub-a-dub-dubby!"

If memory serves, Ernie is the orange one who sings the song, and Bert is the yellow one, so.....

If you really want to see Muppets in a different way, the show Avenue Q is the way to go. Absolutely hysterical.

Kate, thanks for the heads up about the Captive Prince update. Another excellent online read, except that I have totally forgotten who's who - I read it the update and I have no idea what's going on. I wish I had written a summary somewhere.

Good to know: I've just found ''Prisoner'' very good, so the series should be excellent ;-)

You could make me walk through fire with that line.

I'm at 58% of the first book. People around me are starting to notice "that frown". The Prayerscar's gone. They don't understand. I feel as alone as Kahlil at the moment.

Sagajo | 179 comments Antonella wrote: "Good to know: I've just found ''Prisoner'' very good, so the series should be excellent ;-) "

Prisoner had really good tension between the MC's but Bound... I don't know, I found it predictable after the intro chapters. Also it felt like the main characters changed after the initial (more exciting) first chapters.

I can not recommend Dance with the Devil enough for those who like fairytles, mysteries and some sweet romance.

I agree. I read it for the August Pick it for me-Challenge and liked it a lot. Additionally to the points Sagajo mentioned, it is an interesting experiment on time line as the chapters are labled as case files that are connected through the character arcs but not in chronological order.

There are actually two more books in the same "universe", all of them very good. They're also kind of centered around sleuthing characters but only Dance with the Devil has the weird time-line. Loved the random time-line btw.

I thought it is a trilogy starting with ''Midnight'', and that I should read it in the right order...

Sagajo | 179 comments Antonella wrote: "I thought it is a trilogy starting with ''Midnight'', and that I should read it in the right order... "

The order doesn't matter much... I read Dance with the Devil and Dancing in the Dark first and Midnight last. I would recommend to read the Devil one before Dark because they share characters. Midnight is more independent (though some characters are seen later).

message 4788: by mc (new)

mc | 1308 comments Sagajo, so it's ok to read Dance with the Devil first? Or, if it's in my power, should I read Midnight first?

Thanks for the recommendations, all.

If you can I would read Midnight first but you dont miss out on anything by reading Dance with the Devil first if you don't have Midnight available. Dancing in the Dark should be read after Dance with the Devils though.

Sagajo | 179 comments I have to say it is really hard lately to keep track of (new) authors I like... there's just so many names and unless I am totally knocked of my feet I just don't seem to remember who I wouldn't mind reading again. One reason why I choose my name and never ever use initials. Like it or hate it, I hope I wouldn't be mistaken with someone else.

There was this funny case of authors with name similar to Josh who sold outrageous books at Amazon a while ago, right?

message 4793: by Sagajo (new)

Sagajo | 179 comments Cleon wrote: "One reason why I choose my name and never ever use initials. Like it or hate it, I hope I wouldn't be mistaken with someone else."

The problem starts when I look at a new release by an author and go, "I remember that name somehow" and I don't know if it's because he/she was on my blacklist or on my "wouldn't mind another try"-list. *sigh*

We need more stand-out author names! :D

I've just finished

Probation by Tom Mendicino

This was excellent, although it made me realize that it is not always true that I will automatically re-read books I found very good.

There are some themes which hit a bit too close to home for me: (view spoiler)
So I suppose I won't re-read it for a good while...

The drama of a closeted life is pictured with humor, deep emotions, honesty (note for Josh: and a soundtrack! ;-). There is a perfectly believable, slow development towards understanding.

Definitely not a light book, but something well worth reading.

message 4797: by Whit (new)

Whit (showmethelove) Just finished reading The Coda series, great HEA books. I did get a little pissy about book 3 :)

Then The Devil's Fire by Sara Bell. Not the kind of fantasy I wanted to read, but I enjoyed it.

Now I'm starting The Elegant Corpse by A.M. Riley.

Cheryl | 232 comments I started reading Andrea Speed's Infected series. There are two stories in the first book and I made sure I finished the first one to give things a fair chance, but I'm not sure I'll be reading the second half. My understanding is that this series started out as an online fic, and it seems that Dreamspinner Press just picked it up from there and started charging money for it without putting it through any edits. This is a shame because the story is decent and the main characters, especially Roan, are interesting.
