What else are you reading? (June 2010 - May 2013) *closed*

And the BSDM is not that heavy, come on!
Although I suppose that if one has a tendency to read only sweet fluffy things, then Manna Francis could be too much.
Anyway, give it a try, it is for free (said the pusher...)

I'm reading samples today, trying to clear off my Kindle a bit, and I came across this in Abercrombie Zombie by KZ Snow:"Because the very next week, in the front seat of that gleaming 1972 Buick Riviera he'd inherited from his father, a sudden grab and an awkward, off-center kiss had led to the most fevered, exciting blow-jobbery I'd ever engaged in-- both as a giver and a receiver."
I'm think I'm going to have to get it for "blow-jobbery" alone!

Yeah, I think this exchange illustrates our different tastes in books. The Administration is well past my normal boundaries, but I like it enough to wince and carry on.

Seriously: You cannot single out an episode, because the whole is embedded in a fantastic and believable dystopia, with complex characters, gripping plot and so on...

My tastes go fairly broad, so I'm going to have to check this out...eventually. I won several books I really wanted to read on the M/M limericks contest, beginning with Amy Lane's Living Promises, so that's next up. (I love angst and Amy Lane delivers so well.) Oops, I used the a-word. I love intensely emotional scenes (better?)

Oh I can single out several episodes...:D
What drew me into TA and made me read the whole thing in one 3 day binge (Yes I did. No one got fed, phone calls went unanswered, RL just took a hike) was the incredible psychological dynamics and interplay that goes on. Marvelous. And it just builds and grows through the whole series of stories. The dystopic future Europe, the various clever plot elements and secondary characters, the amazingly effective balance of short stories, novellas and novels all helped keep things fresh and a bit unsettled. It's like Manna knew everything I want in a story and delivered it on a platter.
My DIK shelf is pretty small, but these books are definitely on it.

Kate Mc. wrote: "...the amazingly effective balance of short stories, novellas and novels all helped keep things fresh and a bit unsettled..."Yes! It really gives you the idea that everything is going on and the author is - how can I say - choosing episodes out of a whole life, world happening while we're reading. There's something exceptional and at the same time there's a feeling of domesticity because Toreth and Warrick's relationship develops literally before our eyes. Love it.

I just read on the LJ thread that the reason the ebooks aren't available is the DTBs didn't sell enough for the publisher to be bothered. Ugh! I would buy the ebooks in a minute even though I have read them for free.

Mind Fuck is available at a handful of different ebook retailers. It looks like Books on Board is the cheapest, and eReadable appears to sell to several different countries. (The prices listed in the link aren't always accurate, so check all of them before purchasing.)

Sagajo wrote: "I hate this "not available in your region" thing... Why not use the beauty of internet? *pissed*"I KNOW! It sucks doesn't it. We have the most draconian *geographic restrictions* in Australia. I hear plenty of people who don't like Amazon because they're a monopoly etc but at least they make it easy for people outside the US to buy ebooks you can't get anywhere else.

(The Books on Board price is by far the cheapest I've seen it. Everyone else has had it around $10, which is a lot for a) a new to me author and b) for a PITA format.) I know how to do things to mobi files to make them more user friendly. (Only ever for my own personal use. Eye patches are so last century.) But I haven't figured out how to make PDFs my bitch yet. I have a low frustration threshold for things technological.

AFAIK the only one available in ebook is Mind Fuck. You can find that one free on her website and use Calibre to make a mobi file. If you like it and want to support the author, you can always by the DTBs for the rest of them.

Don't! It can be serious (sorry, I'm not able to add only the pic):

LMAO! Josh will be traumatized! Mwahahaha.
It is truly a great series. On the face of it, I wouldn't have thought I'd enjoy it, but I've re-read chunks of it several times since the first. It's one of my examples of how something well done can have you liking elements that you never thought would be your 'thing.'I'd love to find something else like it, but it's pretty singular.

I have this vision of them reading bits of "Wait For It" to each other at a sleep over and getting a visit from the sheriff on our block.

And I doubt that pic is scarier than MPREGs or the Michael/God BDSM. LOL.
... or is it? Nah...

God, no, don't remove it - I can't imagine Josh will find it anything but hysterical (although I shouldn't speak for the man, I guess). It was my choice in the voting for the "most irreverent" M/M avatar contest and it's now going to absolutely be my mental image for "plastic duck" as a safe word.

Mine is Roman shower and the time when Rachel Haimowitz said they didn't accept coprophilia, and of COURSE I gotta know what that is that scares even Rachel Haimowitz. Yeah. um...

ROFL! Exactly! It has an icky factor between the idea of my parents having sex and the possibility of that.
Gahh! What a discussion for too early in the morning!
I'm reading the latest chapter of Freece's Captive Prince, which is finally, finally up.
If you don't mind the frustration of a WIP, this is an absolutely fantastic read.
