Whit (showmethelove) I'm reading The Good Thief by James Buchanan.

Love that book. Actually, that was the one that made me say, maybe I can submit my own work. Because although I don't aim to compete with James Buchanan, I could totally identify with her story and characters. So good.

I think that one was among my first purchases last year.

That's cool :)
To have a turning point like that.

My turning point came after spending so much here and talking to a writer I know through NaNoWriMo. It made me decide to ditch the studies and start focussing solely on writing.
No regrets yet :)

There's the longish one, Natural Disaster, and two shorter ones,Light Touch and Running Away to Home.

You say favs shelf, but when I went to your bookshelf, no favs shelf. Everyone should add a favorites shelf (I don't have one either - but I should!)

Oh, James has written better books, I concur. But there was just something compelling about the characters, as with all James' books, actually.

James is one of my favourite authors.

This is my first book by this author, so I can't make a comparison, but I loved it. I purchased his Taking the Odds series as well.

Personal Demons is Brilliant. (err ... sorry for repeating myself)
Actually ... that's the one I read twice, kept thinking 'I read a book like this already' until I reached page 100 or so (on my ereader) and read 'eyeball' and I realised the book about the same subject was this book *headdesk*

And that perfectly demonstrates how my memory works when reading books *sigh*

LOL. I read it twice because I knew I had and I knew I liked it a lot, but I couldn't quite remember it.

U mean Deviations right? It's bdsm and stuff so ignored it :[

message 4269: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper Try 911; no BDSM and some of the hottest scenes around and the sweetest guys (although it does end up with m/m/m if that squicks you.)

mmmm...I *really* love the guys from 911 -- one of my first forays into straight (as it were) M/M. By which I mean, one where the M/M *ahem* 'scuse me, M/M/M romance was the focus of the book, rather than a side-story.

I know ; don't like menage either; unfortunately I tried it and didn't know it's menage so u can guess what my expression was :{

message 4272: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper Okay then, Cheek-to-Cheek and the sequel. These are sweet, two guys, HFN followed by HEA, just nice love stories. Not a lot of angst, so I gave then 4 stars because I like the emotions cranked up to 11, but well worth reading.

Have you read Heatstroke? It's a sob fest, but with an HEA.

Wow, that's flattering. If you want a sob-fest you could check out the hurt/comfort bookshelf and "best gay couple in health and sickness" under the Lists, lists thread on M/M romance if you're a group member.
Lots of Amy Lane (like The Locker Room and Promise Rock series if you somehow missed those.) Shades of Gray golly there's a lot out there.

message 4278: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1052 comments I'm finally reading Lover Avenged after letting it languish on my ereader for ages. I'm doing a fair bit of skimming. The slang in it is completely out of control. To the point where sometimes it's only context clues that tell me what the hell she's trying to say. Some of it is just over the top ridiculous. Like one of the Brothers referring to his gun as a "click-click-bang-bang". At least, I think it was his gun. It's the only thing I can think of that makes sense. I'm sorry, but there's no way that a 300 hundred year old bad-ass is going to call his gun a click-click-bang-bang. I wouldn't do that, and I'm a 36 year old wimp. And a girl. Give me a break.

Kaje Harper I like Personal Demons well, but it didn't grab me as much as some of the other stuff. Tastes vary I guess. (Definitely worth a read, just not one I reread as much as some of the others, including the Taking the Odds series.)

BTW Jane, you can type in the same box as the stuff that comes up in on "reply" and that way you're not making two separate posts. Just FYI.

Some of these books are on my wishlist, some I've read, but most of them I've never heard of. Not that I need new stuff to read...

BTW The Rifter, Book 6 is out today!

I opened an entirely new bank account, LOL. Serious! A new bank opened a branch just a mile or two away so I plunked money into an account there, got a debit card for it & have used that for online purchases since. It's wholly independent of our other bank accounts so if something goes wrong, I'm not risking our mortgage payment (which came in handy about half a yr ago -- had to freeze the acct & get a new debit card issued after fraudulent charges started showing up). I have to keep $100 in the acct to avoid a mthly fee, but otherwise, no weird service charges like you see with the prepaid cc's. I deposit $ into the acct and that's that. I haven't used my real cc in about two years? Highly recommend.

I also went to this list. I have read Ginn Hale's Wicked Gentlemen and it absolutly blew me away with the setting and the two main characters! I SO wanted more and now I see that FINALLY a sequel.I would give Wicked Gentlemen a 5*. It was a truly masterful story of gay love ..difficult..torturous and what I like!

Wow, that makes a lot of sense. Except than I would have to admit how much I spend on books, rather than burying the cost in with gas and food and pretending we're just eating really well these days. Seriously, though, that's a great idea.

message 4295: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments I agree with Kaje; that's a great idea. The problem for me would be maintaining that $100 minimum...If the money was there, I'd want to use it. The alternative for me would be to buy gift certificates, but I prefer in general to buy direct from the publisher for digital books, which means I'd have to think too hard about where I wanted to spend my money that paycheck...

That's a great idea (you have so many, Kari, where do you get them? I need to get me some)! And then my husband won't know what I spend money on.

But I can't open it at the bank around the corner, they've been robbed too many times.

Can't you do a pre-pay thing on Pay Pal? Deposit X $ in your Pay Pal account, then once you've spent it, your budget's used up. I think most (all?) publishers take Pay Pal.
