At first, I was O.O at Kindlegraph, but...If it works and if it doesn't turn into ginormous time-suck of doom...I like the idea of having authors sign digital books for me so figured I'd bite the bullet & give it try. Thanks for the head's up! >:D

That book is just so incredibly awesome...I really need to find the time to write up a review & rate it, but oh my yes, agreed, agreed, agreed.

If anyone's considering it -- stop considering. BUY. You'll not regret it.

Jeffrey (formerly-aeros) Just finished my first by Josh Lanyon "Fair Game"... I really enjoyed the angst and the mystery. My next is to re-read J.R. Wards' "Lover Mine" to reacquaint my self with the "brothers" before her next novel is released.

You are far stronger than I. I only made it through Lover Mine by skimming through and marking each scene change with a color-coded post-it flag and then going through and reading each storyline separately. I couldn't even bring myself to do *that* much for Lover Unleashed. I am holding out for Blay & Qhuinn, after which she's gonna have to do something spectacular to keep my interest...She's just getting too convoluted for me. It's the vampire version of Wheel of Time.

Tracy, I'm ROFL, because minus the post-its, this is exactly me...and yeah, you nailed it -- JR has become RJ!! ;)

message 4112: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments ns, I'm SOOOO glad I'm not the only one! I won't even visit the BDB forums anymore because anyone who doesn't think that those books are Teh Greatest Thing EVAH and that JR is the Second Coming...well, they're wanting to "change the focus of the culture to...one that favors satisfied readers and fans." I find that insulting to my intelligence.

LOL. I will never buy any of these as an audiobook for just that reason. I'm not sure I ever even went back and read the side stories.

message 4114: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments To be perfectly honest, these days the side stories are more interesting than whoever's supposed to be the "main characters," I think... (esp., for obvious reasons, B & Q)

It does get very cult-like, doesn't it?

message 4116: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments Yes. It really, really does. At first I kind of liked it, because I was actually enjoying the books, and had just made a cross-country move and needed a connection with other people, but now...yeeesh!! (also, Goodreads is MUCH more fun...but one thing I will say about the BDB is that it was my gateway to M/M, so without that, I would not be here. So for that, I thank you, JR!! ...and I maybe still can't help a teeeeny tiny wish for a Butch/V storyline...)

message 4117: by Murphy (new)

Murphy (orchideyes) | 149 comments Josh, are you really going to do a sequel to Fair Game? I am assuming next year sometime?

Tracy-Yeah, I ah... kinda neglected to mention I did the same.

The brothers are becoming too domesticated for Alphas. Josh's book was a nice change of pace. Fingers crossed on the Qhuay novella. I'm a team Qhauy Fan(TQF).

message 4119: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments I can imagine those two boys going all sorts of interesting ways. JR does have a penchant for rather *ahem* Ambitious Extra Bits, but it seems like they don't always work out. Sometimes the Brothers just don't come across as what they're supposed to be -- long-lived, intelligent beings -- so I'm really hoping it works out even reasonably well. One really hopes she's reading plenty of the better M/M stuff so she can do a good job of it when it comes!!! (And I really wish the idea of a digital-only, Qhuay-centric novella didn't seem so much like "hiding the dirty laundry in the hall closet" from her AND the publisher. But maybe that's just me?)

Jeffrey (formerly-aeros) Tracy wrote: "I can imagine those two boys going all sorts of interesting ways. JR does have a penchant for rather *ahem* Ambitious Extra Bits, but it seems like they don't always work out. Sometimes the Brother..."

While I trust J.R. & respect that the characters are her creation, for which I'll be forever grateful. Gotta say I feel my monetary contribution to her work should (in a perfect world) have as much weight as any other fan who might not be as... Shall we say "eager" to read the same detailed HEA for Qhuay as her other Hellrens/Shellans. So till then, I plan to make it through half of the complete works of Josh Lanyon by the end of the Fall season.
A.

ns (vedi) My July reading list. Tough month, still mentally derailed and recovering from last month's reading. I didn't do any reading outside of m/m other than a pair of books (fantasy, sci-fi), and a lot of science stuff. I seemed to have no patience, either did not finish [DNF] or barely finished [BF] the bulk of what I read. Expect I'll return to mostly general and fantasy/sci-fi reading next month.

Cream of the crop: The Holy Road, Faster Than The Speed of Light, Let There Be Light, Happy Snak (SciFi), Turner and Turner*, Among Others (Fantasy).

Have done a superfast blast through the HJD collection in the past few days, and it's really all merging into one. Kaje's story stood out, quite moving. Quite happy with the local authors I've read so far, I'm happy to say :). Anne, special thanks for having an Indian American protagonist! Nice job, guys!

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments I have a random and ever-changing list of stuff to read/re-read. And my wishlists (at multiple sites) are crazylong. Plus I've got a bunch of library books downloaded that are gonna die soon! Really must read the stuff I've started and haven't finished, and I really *really* want to read Terry Pratchett's I Shall Wear Midnight. So far my 11YO daughter does NOT appreciate Pratchett as she should. *sigh* Must work on that. (School starts Thursday, O Thank You Merciful Gods!)

Where do you live? Mine has a month of summer left (which is good, actually, because I home-school now and that means I'm busier when she's "in" school. Must make books while the sun shines.)

Aeros wrote: "Any recommendations on my next Josh Lanyon book? Anybody, Anybody???"

You might try The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks. It's got a sweet fun quality, a nice mystery, and it's a single (so far; hope springs eternal). Or Come Unto These Yellow Sands which is a more subtle book with more complex characters, and my current favorite.

message 4132: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments Kaje, I'm in GA -- but, more specifically, I'm in a county which holds an Army base. The local school system models its year to an extent around the same schedule the post uses, in terms of long weekends/holidays. So the kids get a few extra days here and there during the school year, but in exchange, they only get two months off for the summer. Since my three tend to feed off each other and become a Ravening Barbarian Horde when they've been out of school for more than 15 hours, I'm...surprisingly ok with that!

message 4133: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracykitn) | 461 comments And, Aeros, I second Kaje's suggestions of The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks or Come Unto These Yellow Sands. I also really loved Snowball in Hell.
