Yvonne (ysareader) I read Tatterdemalion & I'm still unsure what to think of it. It feels unfinished. The nickname little bunny grated although the scene where Dane is eating an uncooked rabbit after he has just left his 'little bunny' was amusing/disturbing.

I'm currently reading "A Game of Thrones" from the ultimate unfinished fantasy series "A Song of Fire and Ice." It's good so far with more political intrigue, backstabbing & plotting than fantasy. Maybe that changes later in the book or the series.

I just got "The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks" so I'll probably start reading that today as well.

Cheryl | 232 comments Lauraadrianna, I think you'll like Paris A to Z. Angelo's grown up a lot.

Norma, just a warning, The Dark Horse is not a light read! It's a great book, but very emotional. Have a box of tissues handy!

Thanks Cheryl. I totally cried. But it was in a good way. Like Snowball in Hell hurt. But DH was a good cry. Does that make sense? LOL Anyway, I loved it.

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1052 comments Broke down and read Promises. I enjoyed it, but I liked Strawberries better.

And I just finished Faith & Fidelity-- it was fabulous. I can't recommend it enough.

Hey Cheryl, I finished Paris A to Z, and I'm sorry to say...Zach ruined it for me. I disliked him so much in this book I couldn't even enjoy Cole, who I loved in all the books...*sigh*...I still have Matt and Jared and Cole and Jon to go back to.

I read Nowhere Ranch by Heidi Cullinan yesterday and really liked it.

Starting As You Are by Ethan Day for a group read and really looking forward to it...I love Ethan Day.

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments I've just finished As You Are and I really loved it. It's a book of little misunderstandings and the characters acts real!

message 1857: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 232 comments Zach was pretty angsty, which isn't really a side of him we've seen before. I'm just happy he has a personality now, because I felt like in the first A to Z he was far too blase. I love George and was glad he got a few scenes in this one!

I read Nowhere Ranch a few days ago and it just didn't do it for me. I found myself skimming through at the end, which surprised me because I loved Double Blind.

I started reading JCP's Psycop series last night based on all the talk here and at the m/m group's Josh Lanyon thread, and am now well into the second book and loving every second of it!

message 1858: by Norma (new)

Norma Cheryl, I plan on starting Psycop ASAP based all all the talk lately. Hope I love it!

There is no other option but to read Psycop... NOW. It's the BEST M/M romance-paranormal series out there. End of story... only I hope the story doesn't end. Ever. lol. Vic is one of my fav characters. I actually had his pic up on my work computer as wall paper, under the guise of the new YA novel the guy modeled for. No matter what, I'm always going to call him Vic and think of him with Jacob.

I'm almost finished with the Deviations series. I should finish the fourth book sometime today, then I'll read the reviews and let you know what I thought of it.

message 1868: by Barb (new)

Barb Gilmour (barblikesbooks) which cover was that? i think the one on Camp Hell is very much like Gallagher boys in UK band Oasis :)

Cleon Lee | 2235 comments There are sales again on FW! Fictionwise 40% off code '040811' good through 4/10/11. (Not applicable to Samhain titles)

OMG, I am so broke after buying my iPod (it's PERFECT to read ebooks, btw, though I end up playing games more than I read. lol) , but the temptation. I'm gonna break my credit cards. Aaghh...

Why oh why Fictionwise doesn't have Josh's Partners in Crime series. I can't afford it otherwise. they don't even have The French has a Word on It. *sobs*. Oh well, I need to purchase Out of the Blue anyway.

It's actually a YA book The Abused Werewolf Rescue Group by Catherine Jinx. I'm a teen librarian, so when I found out about that, I had to have the cover up. lol. Different character, same model. I love him.

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1052 comments I wish Amazon had discount codes. I have a bunch of gift cards, and that combined with 40% off ebooks would mean a serious shopping frenzy. I'd probably short out my Kindle.

As it is, I'm trying to ration them out slowly so that I don't run out of credit before my birthday-- the next time I'm likely to get a gift card or two. (Too bad my birthday isn't until November!)

message 1875: by Cleon Lee (new)

Cleon Lee | 2235 comments Thanks for the link, Charming! :)

Fictionwise' collection is still too limited, though. I've had almost all of Josh' books listed there and many books I am looking forward to buy are not available.

I think I know what I want for my birthday, Partners in Crime collection! :D I am gonna bug my sister for it. Well, it's still months away, but she better starts saving for it. lol.

message 1876: by Norma (new)

Norma Becky, I do the same thing. I get Amazon gift cards for presents and when I make extra money babysitting, I use it to buy more amazon gc's. Then I dont feel guilty feeding my obsession!

message 1877: by Barb (new)

Barb Gilmour (barblikesbooks) They had one partners in crime - the one with Jordan Castillo Price :)

message 1878: by Cleon Lee (new)

Cleon Lee | 2235 comments I know, but I can't stand just read 1 in a series when they have more. It will kill me. lol.

message 1879: by Blaine (new)

Blaine (blainedarden) I shouldn't have ... but damn if I can resist a Fictionwise coupon.
Just bought way too many books again. I really have to put a stop to it now ... but I still need the last three books from Jordan Castillo Price, and isn't there a Josh book coming out next month again? mmmm
Guess, I'll have to force myself not to buy more until then ...

message 1880: by Cleon Lee (new)

Blaine (blainedarden) Cleon wrote: "Ok, I bought 6, including Josh's Out of Blue, not too many, right? Right? ;)"

I bought that one as well :D
As well as 'Don't look back' and 'the Ghost wore yellow socks' (which I've both read before, but didn't own yet), Mary Calmes' Matter of Time series, Ethan Day's 'Anything for you' and Jay Bell's 'The cat in the cradle' (9 books total)

message 1882: by Cleon Lee (last edited Apr 08, 2011 10:23AM) (new)

Cleon Lee | 2235 comments Aside from Out of the Blue, I bought Amor En Retrogrado by AM Riley, Electric Melty Tingles by KZ Snow, Resistance By LM Turner, Left of Center by Zathyn Priest, and Highway Patrol by Wayne Mansfield. The last 4 authors are new authors for me so I bought their shorter works before I tried their longer ones.

Not sure when I am going to read these books. I haven't even finished Snowball in Hell since I am having too much fun playing Angry Birds on iPod.

I've read Ghost Wore Yellow Socks, but somehow I don't like it as much as other Josh' works. I don't know why. I can even forgive threesome in The Vintage Affair.

I still have to read Snowball as well :)
I'm reading 'Personal Demons' by James Buchanan right now.

I loved Yellow Socks :) so I'm looking forward to reading it again. The books I liked least of all Josh's works are the Dark Horse books ... not sure what it was, they just didn't pull me in as much as the rest.

I bought that one too!! And the rest of Ethan Day's books that I did not have 5 in total...WOOT for coupons!

@Blaine I think SiH, is my favorite JL other than the AE books, and I know I say that after every book, but it's true this time!

message 1886: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 232 comments Cleon, I couldn't get into The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks, either. I thought I was the only one! I think the overall setting/mood just didn't click with me. Or maybe it's that I have asthma, too, and didn't really like thinking about being wheezy and in dank passages with someone trying to kill me. I dunno, but not every book is for every person and there are stories I love that others people don't.

Cleon Lee | 2235 comments Or maybe it's that I have asthma, too, and didn't really like thinking about being wheezy and in dank passages

THIS IS IT! You nail it for me why I dislike this book. It's the setting, I hate, not the characters or the plot.

I just felt gloomy and scared all the while reading it. I have dust allergy, allergy to damp places, and I hate hate dark damp places with passion! And I have terrible unreasonable phobia. I can't imagine if I got stuck in that building with dead bodies popping up everywhere! *shudder shudder*

message 1888: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 232 comments yep, the characters were fine, the plot was OK (I'm not a big fan of mysteries, Josh's are really the only ones I've been able to get through. I've read The Dark Tide at least 4 times and still couldn't quite tell you what happened at the end) but the setting seemed a little weird to me. Like calling everyone in the building Miss or Mister So-and-so. Shouldn't someone in the building other than the main characters be addressed by a first name? It gave it an old feel, maybe like an old film noir, but in a modern setting and it just kept niggling at me, just a little bit, through the whole story. And then there was the damp, dark, dusty wheeziness with lots of stairs and that was way more distracting! Even thinking about it now has me reaching for my inhaler! Good job, Josh!

Yup, Josh has this talent to create a vivid atmosphere with few words that sucks us all in. Which is why I love Darkling Thrush to death and dislike Ghost Wore Yellow Sock.

I love the cover model! I like that he's attractive, but in a regular guy kind of way. And the cover to Many Happy returns totally makes me think of Zoolander. Blue Steel!

I dunno, I think calling the characters Mr. so-and-so makes everything more quirky. And in some older buildings, especially where the residents are older and have lived there for ages, that tends to be how they are referred, I think anyway.

And yeah, that totally gave it a slight noir feel to it, but hey, that works for the story.

The setting was horribly creepy, and I don't like places like that either. But again, it was done for the story, and the fact that some of you hated it so much (allergies aside) just goes to show how much of a good job Josh did.

Just started Details of the Hunt (Details, #1) by Laura Baumbach so far so good, who doesn't love a pirate?
But can I just say this is the most god-awful cover I have ever seen...and for an m/m reader, that's saying a lot...
