Ugh. I hate TAB energy. But then I'm not a fan of strawberry, and it has a vaguely strawberrish flavor.

Today I'll start

I adore this series (and the Alpha & Omega books). Briggs has yet to writer a stinker, IMO. *g*

I've read all but the last A&O book and have yet to read any of her re-released fantasy books. I do hope to get to them someday

Is it out already? I was so waiting for this book!"
I want to read that series so badly but gaaah it's ongoing and I'm already following hundred plus one series soo tell me that the endings aren't in any way cliff-hangerish and that I can read them now without worries?

Which is today! So happy Pi day everyone
My next favorite nerd day is of course May the 4th
Alyosha you convinced me, I've started
I hope this Rio guy doesn't totally piss me off, I'm alternating it with
in case he makes me too crazy...

That sounds good! But yeah, I'd want to know why he's self destructive too! That seems important to me, and I haven't even read the book.

ETA It is a good cry i have yet to not like one of her books

I've been wanting to participate in one of those, but I don't have enough of a m/m tbr shelf built up to read just from that, and I can't afford to buy as I go. If I keep my eye on the sales I'll probably be able to join in this time next year.

Yay! I hope someone will pick the first one for me in qgb ;}

Yes Becky, there is a lot of great, free fiction out there. I've been reading free online fiction even longer than m/m novels. And trust me, some of it is fantastic and can easily compete with the very best of the published novels I've read.
Speaking of good free on-line fiction... SSBB Story Archive is a good resource. I've read all the stories from the "Historical Romance" issue so far and I dare say each one was better written than your average published m-m book. Too bad these stories are mostly rather short.

SSBB is really awesome.

glad to find a good read after such long time

Jonathan definitely redeems himself. He's great and so is Cole, who I thought I would hate

This was my first Marie Sexton, so I didn't have opinion on Jonathan one way or the other to start. I wasn't sure if I was going to like an effeminate character like Cole as part of the main couple, but I adored him. And I loved his emails at the start of each chapter. It was a great technique to give us his thoughts since the rest of the story was in 1st person from Jonathan's POV.

I thought I'd hate Cole as well, but he was terrific! I loved both Jonathan and Cole in this.

I read A to Z first then went back to Promises. I forgot I had The Letter Z and Strawberries until I saw someone had added them to their TBR pile. I'm rather glad I started with A to Z, but think starting with any of the following stories would have made it confusing. A little, maybe?
As for feminine characters, I don't mind them so much, as long as their done right. I adored Cole in this, but it was obvious why he "pulled on his affections like pieces of armor", as Jonathan says. Another fem character I love is from Lynn Lorenz's Edward Unconditionally.

I keep hearing about Edward Unconditionally. That's another one I'm going to have to get to eventually. The list is getting a little scary.
At the moment I'm reading Catch Me If You Can by L.B. Gregg. It's a little silly, but entertaining so far.

I LOVE LB Gregg! Her stories are fresh and funny. Catch Me can be a little silly; Trust Me If You Dare is less so, but still funny and very entertaining.
...another one I'm going to have to get to eventually. The list is getting a little scary. -- oh MAN! Do I know it! Every time I drop in on GoodReads, I have to add at least 3 or 4 new books to the 'to be read' or 'to buy' lists. Need to get a second job to support my book habit.

I LOVE LB Gregg! Her stories are fresh and funny. Catch Me can be a littl..."
I Love LB Gregg as well. CMIFYC and TMIYD are two of my favorite books. I love those characters. I didn't find the story silly so much as just fun and fluffy. Sometimes I need that.

I like effeminate characters too - swishy even - as long as they aren't infantilized.

Becky, what would make this easier for you? Are the books simply too expensive?
I was posting yesterday about libraries and piracy (these are not the same thing, let me hasten to add) and several people brought up the issue of cost.
A lot of these stories are the price of a paperback -- or a coffee at Starbucks -- at least that's my impression. Am I right about this? Do most people consider a Starbucks better worth the money?
As someone with a vested interest, I obviously go back and forth.

Carol is someone who doesn't get a lot of press and yet she is one of the most pirated authors out there. Which probably indicates something.

I'd never heard of this. To be honest I wasn't wowed by the random samples I read. Is it a fan fiction archive? What's the history with it?

Good God yes! They pirate her more than any other I've seen. I do love the idea behind her Cattle Valley series. I'm surprised she doesn't get more press for it.

*lol* I'm so glad I don't drink coffee ... I'll never have to choose. Of course, not many Starbucks here either (though I love their mango frappucino)
As I mentioned on your lj, I've bought a lot of books (way too much, according to hubby, who is not exactly a reader) since I got my ereader. Not all books are priced the same, but upto now, it's been about 10-13 euros for 3 books. I think that's reasonable. Far more reasonable than the translated mainstream books I've seen over here, they start from about 16 euros and are often priced the same as their print versions.
