What else are you reading? (June 2010 - May 2013) *closed*

I liked it. A bit spooky at times.

Good to hear that!
I really liked Muscling Through, i think it was the first book by J.L.Merrow that i read. I found it refreshing and it made me smile a lot :)

I started this today, although I had planned to hoard it for a weekend read. I had to google Gok Man; never heard of him. I love JL Merrow.

I bought that, too. And Frat Boy and Toppy and Gold Digger.

I've loved Dark Soul, Skybound, Country Mouse and City Mouse (with Amy Lane) so far. I am a wimp and haven't read Special Forces yet.;)

Stevenson is just so good.
Stevenson is just so good.

Another to add to the growing TBR list. :-)

Thanks for the heads up about the release. I do love the Brit vocab.
I have been re-reading the Psychop series. I am half way through GhostTV. I love it!

As far as Special Forces... Well, all I can say is that it is one of the best series I have read, and I think, being a former Marine myself, it was a series that stuck in my head for a very long time... It has angst, but I have to admit mourning when I finished. Those characters stayed with me for months and are definitely due a re- read.

I haven't tackled the Special Forces either, but Incursion and Dark Edge of Honor are definitely recommended, too! Especially if you don't mind good Sci-Fi :-D

I'm really looking forward to Slam, although there's still quite a bit of reading to do until then ;-D
I absolutely loved Muscling Through, though!! That is probably the best book of hers that I've read so far.

Oh, they're not related as far as i know, Muscling Through is mentioned as a worthy reread :-)
I love the PsyCop series! so glad i took a chance on it since it's not something that i go for usually, but they're so good! Just finished Camp Hell.

Thanks!
GhostTV is even Better!!! So much fun. 8)

It's funny I use to buy paperbacks all the time and only read halfway through. My friend reminded me about that the other day, I said that since I got my nook I've read 25 books in two months. Mostly thanks to you all.

It's not connected, other than same author and one of my favorite re-reads.

Joe - it's getting a little easier. The chapter where they are both in the mountains (2?) is actually my absolute favourite.

I think the Abi Roux (Cut & Run) series is good... It's lighter than Special Forces, but the dynamics between the two MCs gets better and better, and I was pleasantly surprised, as when it ended up that Abi had to decide to continue writing the series on her own, she did a great justice to the characters... more than expected :)

Muscling Through is a fav of mine too. I just loved the MCs distinctive voices. I'm also a sucker for the Artist niche, so it is always a fun read for me. Thanks Susinok

Hob-nobs are definitely biscuits! (or cookies to you) "made from rolled oats and jumbo oats, similar to a flapjack/digestive biscuit hybrid." I bet you're not much wiser now...
I think it's a reference to the word hobnob: "mix socially, especially with those of perceived higher social status: he was hobnobbing with the great and good".

Well put! No, she doesn't write easy books. I bought it, too, haven't read it yet, but wouldn't have boutht it except Henry's name is on it.

Dang! Another good author I missed. Thanks for the heads up..I also like the co-author J.A. Rock, so this has to be a good one. Thanks!!

Very good, but tough subject matter, complex personalities.
Take that old promo: "This is easy listening hour." And replace easy with difficult. (smile, but true)

I'm about halfway through Slam! and Merrow surely does characters you don't find (or seldom find) elsewhere. Jude is driving me a little nuts, but I think that's because I know him. ;-)

I finished Slam! yesterday and loved it.

And I second that. I liked that one a lot. :)

Read it. Read. It.
All of Psycop is amazing. And one shouldn't put off any of the books if you can afford to. Once you've read them, you'll want to reread them again. That's why I bought them first in print and then went back to get them in ebook.

I only read vampire stories if they're very unique, like this one and the one by JCP. Blacker Than Black was interesting. Very interesting. And leaves you guessing until the very end. I really liked how the two MCs announce their love for each other.
Oh yeah, and Lou's Spirit Sanguine. Hilarious that story is. For sure. You have to get it when it comes out. No doubt about it.

Dan and Vadim haven't left my mind, and I have a feeling they never will. I love those guys! Somewhere I found one of those WWII brit signs that someone did up to say "Keep calm and love Vadim". Perfect. It says everything!

Honestly, I couldn't get through the first two chapters of Cut and Run, because the editing was so bad. I tried it a second time and couldn't get through chapter 1, so I gave up. But so many people seem to love it. I think I would have really enjoyed the series if the editing had been better. But that's just me.
As for you reading 25 books in one month... go you! That's pretty awesome. Especially when you used to not finish books. Woot! Looks like you found your niche genre. :-)

I'm rereading Prey for our BOM this month. It's just as fantastic the second time around. Only now, I know what happens after this book, which is rather heartbreaking. Everyone who hasn't read this book yet should do so this month and join us for the discussion coming up!

Unlikely to remember to join the discussion, but that is a fantastic book (and series!).

Spirit Sanguine is definitely on my to-read list :-D Thanks!

Have you read Skybound? Throw that one in your basket while you are at it... ;-)

I'm currently reading 3 books. I sometimes read more than one book at time if I'm just not in love with what I've started. When I do that it means I like the book enough to finish it, but not so much that I can't put it down and supplement it with something else. I am, however, thinking of putting all 3 aside and starting Skybound, which I've been hoarding. :-)

Most new cars look the same to me, but the old Karmann Ghia makes me think of a French man with a pencil mustache.
