Just finished Sarah Black's Marathon Cowboys. It was the first book I've read by her and I thought it was a beautiful story, very rich with developed characters and setting. (Made me want to visit Texas!) Really recommended for anyone looking for a contemporary romance.(I had gotten this as a freebie from Dreamspinner during their October twitter give-aways, and I definitely think it was a great freebie. Now I want to check out more from Black, so it worked well as a "gateway" book to check out an author's style.)
Does anyone have a recs for Black's other works? What would you recommend to read next by her?

I know I have a couple of books that are out of print, my only fear for sending them out is wondering if I'd ever see it again. But, I understand the need for sharing. Has anyone ever read The Carnivorous Lamb by Agustin Gomez-Arcos?

I put The Travelling Books of Our Group topic in the Book of the Month Club folder.
(Help! Why does my computer want to take the other letter l away from the word travelling? Is it really spelled with only one L?)

Oh no. I can't read when I'm sick either. I usually glom onto a series and just stream the whole thing. The last time was New Tricks. I got all the way to series 8.
Watch, rest, drink plenty of fluids. No alcohol -- it weakens your immune system.

I have to say readers came up with some very good ideas as well as helping me clarify my thoughts.
The thing about creating a solid audio library is even if it doesn't do more than pay for itself short term -- which I have to trust will happen -- in seven years I'll have the rights back and maybe I'll really need those earnings then?

Yes!! Great story, too.
Yes, it's a story with happy m/m couple but at the centre is yet another one of Sarah Black's many great warm very close and very odd families. Nobody else does them quite like she does.

Than you can confirm this? I had this idea but I went to check about the movie and saw nowhere a mention of the book. So I thought maybe I'm wrong.

I can't confirm it, I just can say that in the description of the movie it says that he was born with his eyes closed and when they opened a couple of weeks later he looked at his five year old brother.
From the book: "Sixteen days!" she exclaimed. "Can you believe it? He waited sixteen days to open his eyes! We were all standing around his cradle, and do you know what he did? Without hesitating, he looked straight at his brother, staring at him as if he were trying to hypnotize him."

By the way, Every Time I Think of You isn't a very thick book, so I assume that the postage for it won't be too bad. Your estimation is probably right, Liade.

Josh, did you decide not to look at Captive Prince? If so, I wanted to say another word in its favor. I told you it is not BDSM--no "kink" to speak of, as you were thinking it probably leaned on that. Also, Aleksandr talked about the flouting of historical fact as a problem for him. I understand.I think the story can be read as fantasy; that's how I read it, so the literal historical context became unimportant.
As for the kink, almost as soon as I was introduced to the captive, I found I definitely did not want him to learn to love his slavery--the s/m slant. I liked him and I wanted him to keep his chin up. That's exactly what he did, too. He fought through to ultimately earning respect as well as a meaningful place for himself right where he was for as long as he had to be there.
The romance also worked very well for me; and again, sex did not lead but followed. So, when it did arrive, it carried weight.
I think you should at least start the book. The author's a good storyteller.

I thought Marathon Cowboys was pretty stellar. It's nice to find an author through one book and then happily dig through their backlist. Lots to look forward to. :D

It is certainly not a BDSM story. I did enjoy it.

"I went to the UK GLBT Meet last year and they usually organize a lottery for an organization helping homeless young GLBT, the Albert Kennedy Trust. I won the first prize. The funny thing is that I wasn't interested in a Kindle at first... But then Eve showed me the potentiality of the device and helped me to set it up and in two hours I was quite happy.
But it took me a while start using it. I was used to read at my computer or in bed with print books. I also kept buying new books as PDF because the Kindle doesn't look safe to me having no backup. In the meantime I buy books in both formats when possible.

I think I mentioned it at some point in this forum, but it would have been a lot of pages and msgs ago. I still have a good copy in my bookcase.

Any kindle books that I download to my computer I back up as usual to an external hard-drive just in case.

But I thought that if I download directly to the Kindle there is no backup. Now I've seen that I can organize it myself.
I'm reading My Share of the Task: A Memoir. Fascinating and a different perspective on history I lived through.

It's a great place to seek out and borrow books (whenever budgets are tight.) :) They're a really nice, helpful group.
