Not to be a pest, but any updates on the H&M #3 front?

ED | 105 comments I have just finished Lover At Last and I loved it. I listened to the audio book. 20 hours of entertainment. Worth every cent. I had a very short night. Did get less then 4 hours. Strong coffee, and chocolate on the side might help to give me a little "pick me up". Ok, what to read next?

I know that Susinok is anxious to discuss Lover At Last on the Special BOM Project, Spring 2013 thread! I'll join you all after reading the book. :)

I love when a book is so good that I don't want to stop reading and I stay up all night with it. Well, I love it until I have to get up in the morning and then I'm like #@*%!!.

And I always feel a little lost, too, as to what to read next after a book has had me its clutches. It's so hard to warm up to another story after that.

That seems like such an odd marketing choice. Why make the rest of the world wait?"

I've got a book, sci-fi, that released in the UK a year ago, and still isn't out in the states. It's very agravating because to get it imported, or even to buy it used is very pricey. I want to read it. Was going to read it last summer, but I guess I might never get around to it, if this keeps up. I had originally purchassed it on Amazon, only to find out they goofed. And it's still not out. Anywhere. UGH!

I'd rather wait just a few days, than a whole fricken year!

Waves. I'm in the UK. Did you want me to get this book and post it to you? Who is the publisher and what's the book?

message 12510: by Matthias (new)

Matthias Williamson (matthiasw) | 340 comments My favorite author is British, Jilly Cooper, I can only get books from her when my aunt travels to England, as she's never been published in the states that I'm aware.

Always good to have British pals.

I'm surprised about Jilly Cooper. I'd have thought hers would be available as e-books. Getting things across the Atlantic is a real headache as regards poetry too. According to cinnamon Press my North Wales based publisher Amazon.com don't want to know when it comes to small indie publishers. Hence my offer to Jordan.

Remind me next year that the first quarter of any year is spent on taxes and business. That's basically it. I've fooled around with some short stories and did a little experimenting with Blood Red Butterfly, but I've got to accept the fact that the first few months of the year are all about securing the empire.

Which is a long way of saying, I've promised it to my editor in 6 - 8 weeks.

Oh wow. Thanks for the offer, that's really generous of you. But I can be patient. I wouldn't get to read it for awhile anyway.

But if anyone's curious is The Iron Jackal by Chris Wooding. It's a LOT like Firefly, but not.

Shortcut acronym for Black Dagger Brotherhood. It's a paranormal series by J.R. Ward. The first book is Dark Lover.

Katharina | 656 comments I've just read Snap by Allen Renfro - and I absolutely agree with K.Z.: more people should read this book.
It's an absolutely unique read, brutally violent at times with a grimy, dirty truth to it that holds you captive. It explores the darkness of human beings, the shades of grey in love, revenge, redemption. Highly recommended to everyone!

message 12529: by ED (new)

ED | 105 comments Josh, I purchased, and am in the progress of listening to the first 2 of the Adrien English series, audio books. I do like the narrator. He does a great job. Jake's voice is especially sexy. I hate it when narrators use all those fake, exaggerated voices. It really is not necessary. Like in many things, less is more. Listening to it, brings the way you write, the way you use the language as a tool, so much more in the foreground. I get a lot of pleasure out of good writing. It does sound real corny LOL. I assume the whole series will be out in audio format?

I agree with everything in your post, ED. It is interesting how the narrator makes Jake's voice so distinctive and sexy when in truth it's only a slight variation on his narrative voice. Almost as skillful as the writing!

And I would like to say this...a few discussions ago, I kind of dished J.R. a little bit. I'm going to apologized for that. For a het romance writer, she did a very good job at converting to m/m romance. I'm tickled pick that she crossed over to the dark side. Had no problems with baking cookies for this one.

I have After Ben on my Kindle, but I haven't read it yet. Glad to hear that the story is gripping and that you liked it.

I'm struggling a bit with Tinseltown. I know that many of you have loved it (and I kind of like it, too), but for some reason I have a hard time concentrating in it. I feel like I'm missing the common thread or something... Anyway, I'm already 67% through, so I'm not going to give up anytime soon.

:-D I would believe they rather do it to keep you from reading than because they actually like the book. But I could be wrong, of course :)

If you're looking for an excuse to get an ereader, sure! But I don't think it would do you much good. Trouble loved to plop his butt down on electronic things. He was pretty good about staying off the laptop, but I was constantly pulling my Kindle and TV remotes out from under him. And tape measures. Knitting needles. Pens. Notebooks. Frequently more than one of these items at a time. He was a big boy.

HJ | 3603 comments Cats love electronic equipment, because it gets warm. And they hate anything which you concentrate on instead of them. So, I expect they would obstruct an ereader if you had one. They can be distracted by empty cardboard boxes, though!
