What else are you reading? (June 2010 - May 2013) *closed*
I've read a couple books in the last few days. Duck! by Kim Dare, which was AWESOME, and The One That Got Away by Rhianne Aile and Madeleine Urban, which was sweet, but it had big problems in the plot department. As in, it had none. A little more conflict and a lot more attention to POV would have improved it significantly.
Becky, I just read Duck last week, and agree it was awesome. The domination and submission aspect was very lightly and lovingly done which seemed perfect for this story. I got the book as a Kindle loan, but I will have to buy this one as a keeper to re-read.
I got it as a Kindle loan, too, and it's now back on the "to buy" list. For free books, this Kindle loan program sure is costing me money. I borrowed Somebody Killed His Editor and the collection of the first two Adrien English books, and now I own all five of Adrien's books and All She Wrote. If I borrow any more books I'm gonna go broke!
For audiobook fans, audible.com is having a sale -I don't know how long but Fair Game is only $10.77 and Blinded by Our Eyes-Clare London is the same. Really good price if you are into audiobooks. His for the Holidays is also on sale.

Thanks for head ups!
I wouldn't recommend "Blinded by Our Eyes" though - the entire book sounds like it's read by Aldous Snow performing a Monty Python episode. Better just read the book.

Aw.. That's too bad, because I've already bought all of them (well, those I wanted) except for a couple of titles unavailable in my region XD
Do you know there's a lot of short audio-books by different authors on http://www.total-e-bound.com, all read by J.P. Bowie (an m/m writer)?
I bought one but couldn't download it :/

Yes, I've bought audio books there. I didn't have any trouble downloading them but you can get those on audible too. The price is the same as the TeB site.I did not know that he was the narrator. To be honest, I have some trouble understanding him. (Devon Rhodes- Rough Riders-did he do that one?) I had to really ~listen hard~ and pay attention.
I wouldn't recommend "Blinded by Our Eyes" though - the entire book sounds like it's read by Aldous Snow performing a Monty Python episode. Better just read the book. *lol* Sorry, just caught this discussion in passing and had to laugh, because I'm afraid I agree with you (and that's not even knowing who Aldous Snow is!). It was very exciting to have my book converted to audio, but I was disappointed with the end product. The actor's voice is lovely on the ear in a North American/Canadian accent, and he's done other excellent books, but the British accents didn't work for me. I wish they could have had a UK actor for the British-set ones, as there are several of us in that Carina range.
Ah well, at least the book still stands in its native language *g*.

Ah, Clare. too bad. That is a great book anyway.
I was wrong-I don't see the TeB audiobooks at audible.com. Could have sworn. Guess if you want to listen to JP Bowie you need to buy at TeB!Suhi, if you email them I am sure they will help you with the download.
I am still new to Clare's stuff but The Tourist (may not be out yet?) was really good so I will have to try Blinded By Our Eyes
Bubbles (Dane) wrote: "I am still new to Clare's stuff but The Tourist (may not be out yet?) was really good so I will have to try Blinded By Our Eyes"Everything Clare writes is perfect.

Apparently he is. And I personally think he's a better narrator than an author. At least I like his voice. I have his "Under the Law" and even the story itself is pathetic, his narration was kind of cute. I like the accent too :)

Bubbles (Dane) wrote: "any recommendation of where I should start with Clare then Lori?"Have you read 72 Hours? I loved that one. True colors is really good too. But start with 72 Hours.
I was supposed to read 72 hours with EM but then she started without me so it's on my reader to go i will start it soon
Suhi wrote: "I like the accent too :) ..."Yep, just that I, not being used to the accent, have to listen harder. Plus, the recording from TeB is more bass than some and my car speakers don't play it nicely. It sounded better on my computer.
Bubbles (Dane) wrote: "I was supposed to read 72 hours with EM but then she started without me so it's on my reader to go i will start it soon"Do, maybe I will read it again too. But tonight, I want to start reading PsyCop thru again to prepare for the BIG DAY!!

This is Aldous Snow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFHOza...
Imagine a book where ALL the characters speak like this... and Joseph was the worst accent-wise. I couldn't help visualizing him looking like Aldous too and it was so uncalled for ... ugh.. Also it brought an unnecessary comedy element into this rather dark story. Ah.. Actually you don't need to imagine it - you've heard it with your own ears :)
Don't get me wrong - I love British accent. And as a matter of fact I have a better understanding of British accented speech as an opposite to American. But in the case of BbOE it was horrid. Too exaggerated to put it mildly. It simply ruined a good book :/

I did. They haven't replied so far. If they don't answer till tomorrow evening I'll ask paypal for refund :/
Too bad because I actually hoped to find an alternative to Audble. Their "region restriction" policy is annoying and offensive. I'd rather not give them my money.

Lori K, I found these books on audible, they are actually 4 cents cheaper there XD

Jesus, I'm slow... You're the author! Well, I want to use the opportunity to say that BbOE was my first book by you and I liked it very much. I just wish I'd bought it in a book form. Thank you for writing such a great story, and I'm definitely going to buy more of your books!

I'm reading Truth in the Dark, a retelling of the beauty and the beast. I'm already liking it because even if the narrator is the most unfortunate young man, he is not whiny and doesn't recriminate. He's bitter, but he's very lucid.
Suhi wrote: " book sounds like it's read by Aldous Snow performing... A-ha, Russell Brand! I get you now :). I didn't see his movie, and I'm not a great fan to start with. But I understand what you mean about the accents, it's a good example :).
I think it's difficult to understand the wide range of accents in a country that's not your own. For example, Russell's an Essex-born boy, not so far from London (where I am - and Charles' gallery too *g*), but there's a huge range of accents even in that area. Mind you, I expect we Brits make the same mangled mess with our US accents :).
Exaggeration - yes, that's what I felt, too.

No way I can tell apart different British accents , lol. Sometimes it seems to me like I maybe can recognize Scottish but that's all.
And I can recognize the Southern way of speech in American English :) All of them are interesting and are a nice touch to a book unless the narrator takes all the deal way too far. Then it's just annoying. The worst example of such overuse of accents is "Nine Lights over Edinburgh" by Harper Fox ... couldn't stomach it, dropped half way.
But Aldous cracks me up :)

For audio fans: I made "Best M/M audio book" list. I couldn't figure out how to add there books without voting for them, so I just voted for all XD
Please, come and vote :)
And I know that my next list will be "Worst M/M audiobook narration"

I am Scottish and I thought Harper's written accents were very good. In fact I've now read a couple more of hers with regional British accents and I think they are very authentic :)

Ah, no no, I'm talking about the audiobook's narration - the actual (made-up I suppose) accent of the actor who reads it. And it's not only the accent - his whole manner of reading is exaggerated and full of pathos.

I am reading Bermuda Heat by P.A. Brown. It is the fifth in the "LA Heat/LA" Series. I recommend if you haven't read this series, you will really enjoy it. I have already read: LA Heat, LA Mischief, LA Bytes and LA Boneyard in this series. She writes other M/M books also and I recommend all of them. They are a little darker than Josh's books but they are very good.

Honestly I'm being lazy this week and gearing up for the next b/c some anticipating releases are coming out starting the 27th. There's River Marked, Late Eclipses, Dead on Delivery, Blackout, and Under Wraps. I also will receive the following yaoi titles-Crimson Snow, Finder 3, Cold Fever (novel), and All You Need is Love v. 2 (novel). In GLBTQ I'm getting Something Like Summer; if I'm lucky maybe Like Pizza and Beer (PB), and Kaminishi (PB). So yeah, I'm going to be very, very busy.
Ooh, I can't wait for River Marked, already have it pre-ordered! I just love Mercy. I also really liked Like Pizza and Beer

Jordan Castillo Price did an outstanding job with GhosTv. The beauty is that her stories survive re-reads. I had the privilege of reading this story before its release and keeping quiet about it wasn't easy. Absolutely love Vic and Jacob in this story. And Crash *g*
I have to read Camp Hell first but after that, definitely putting GhosTV on my to buy list to read Vic & Jacob's continuing story.
Just bought GhosTV by Jordan Castillo Price. It is really bad that I have a full day and have to drag it around on paper to all of my appointments!
