Bummer."
I just finished this one (and the first one, Like Coffee and Doughnuts.) I really enjoyed them too. She did a great job on the characters and their voices. I'm hopeful for a Dino Martini Mysteries #3 someday...

I loved "Scorpion". You have a great review on it!
I highly rec. to anyone interested!

I loved Scorpion and also Prisoner. I still have to read Bound.
In fact I want to re-read ''Scorpion'', because I should have probably given 5 stars. Sometimes I'm excessively parsimonious with stars.

Thanks for reminding me about it, girls! I bought it right away and I really really have to read it as soon as possible! I suppose I'll have to read Manu's review only after reading the book? Any major spoilers there?

I started to listen to Finding Zach today. I'm liking it so far a lot. It's no walk in the park though.

Scorpion is not a walk in the park either. It is about leader/warriors, but is wonderfully written.

And for sure doesn't have any of the weaknesses of ''Finding Zach''.

And it's wonderfully written, because it's written by Aleksandr Voinov. I've never read anything not wonderfully written by him. ;)

I didn't find any weaknesses in Finding Zach. It was excellent.

Into the Bermuda Triangle, Autopilot Engaged, Red-Eye Dawn.
I'm glad I waited at least to have three books. I'm dying to see the rest. Jordan Castillo Price is a genius. Where does she get the ideas for her stories?
ETA; I forgot to mention that the story is downloadable for free: http://jcpbooks.com/ebook/into.html

Every person has her own tastes ;-).

Way to go, Antonella! I've only read the two first ones. :) And I loved them. She is a genius, isn't she! And you lucky girl are going to hear her lecture in September... I am soooo envious! ;)

I also just finished Turbulence 3 Red-Eye Dawn. I confess this is the first one of JCP's works that I've had a tough time warming up to (no better phrase, dangling participle and all), but this episode just turned the corner for me. Yes, she is a genius, and a hard-working researcher as well. I'm a lot better with reading serials or series after they're completed. ;-)

I read the reviews on Secondhand Heart. It seems people either loved it or hated it, no in-between :). I will definitely sample it and the author's other books. Thanks for the recommendation, I am always looking for new authors to check out.

The operative word being ''soap opera''. It was too much drama for me.

Thank you Reggie :-) read it after, Johanna, I tried not to reveal major points but I feel it's better to go into it blind

Ok. :) I'll start reading the book later tonight.

I've been in a Josh Lanyon mood lately. Which is good, I suppose, because it means I can catch up on his back list. I was so exhausted the other day, that the book I'd planned to read held no interest and I had time to kill before my hair appointment. I ended up reading Lone Star and loving every minute of it! Such a sweet story. I'd love a sequel to it.
Seriously, it was the Texas Ranger that got me. That, and the fact that the MC was a professional ballet dancer I found really interesting.
I thought this month's book group was All She Wrote, but it wasn't. Silly me, couldn't get that book out of my head for so long, I mixed it up with Somebody killed His Editor. Go me! I have to say, having just finished it this morning, I loved it.
So, now that that's over (*gives a sad face*) it's time to get back to those other books I promised the world I'd read this summer. You know, reading nonfiction, and other types of fiction just makes me want to read M/M even more. Drives me nuts.
Anywho, I'm about to start reading Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War tonight. This is the second of the three nonfic war books I chose to read. I always do find military stuff interesting. And not just the "hot" guys in romance novels either. But I'm hoping this one will be easier to get through than the Vietnam War I felt like I went through a few weeks back. lol.
And then I went and bought a bunch more books. I can't wait to read them... but what about the 100+ books I already have? lol... *sigh*
"Whoever said money can't buy happiness has never been in a book store." Clearly.

I have to ask, why was this one hard to warm up to? Any particular reason, or just because it's a serial?

I can state only my opinion.
I found this as good as her other works. It's just that I'm not used (anymore) to read installments, and that's the only slightly negative point for me. I managed to wait till part 3, but now I wish I would have had the nerves to wait longer.
Jordan wrote: "I have to ask, why was this one (JCP's Turbulence serial) hard to warm up to? Any particular reason, or just because it's a serial?"
I've been asking myself the same question. In part, because it's a serial, and I guess I can be impatient with suspense. ;-) But also because I didn't have any clear sense of where this might be going in T1 and T2. I didn't feel any strong connection to the characters. Then in T3 all four characters became much more interesting to me as their approaches to coping with an untenable situation were described, and I was impressed by the idea that they (some of them), seem to have decided to stick with this situation for altruistic reasons, in part to spare others the learning curve.

I have also read Leave Myself Behind, a coming of age and coming out story, very intense read about how secrets not told can cause harm to one's soul and mind, conveyed through the rather fun voice of a seventeen years old boy.

Well, I finally started to read Scorpion and oh boy... girls didn't exaggerate. It's good. I mean really good. I still have 75% to read, but I'm already mesmerized by the tempo of the story. If it was music it would be played andante. And with a feeling. :) The intimacy and the uniqueness of the atmosphere is just wonderful. I do want to savor this one...

Well, I'm definitely not going to argue with this comment. *grin* It must be all about my slower reading speed then... *another one of those grins*

I'm really enjoying it too so far. But I'm not far into it. Sadly, my goal is to finish it by the end of the month so I can fit the other summer reading books into next month.
The funny thing is, I saw the movie years ago, and as I'm reading this book, I keep coming across scenes that I feel like I've read before. And I know I haven't read the book before now. So I'm wondering if my brain is remembering the movie from years ago.

Re: JCP's turbulance: I figured that's what it was for most people. I have yet to read it, but I can't wait to when I get a chance.
Soon as I get these summer reading books done. lol.

I've very much enjoyed our group reading of Somebody Killed His Editor this month.
The other two books I read this week couldn't be more different:
Tinseltown and Scorpion. Thanks for the recommendations/mentions of Scorpion — just wow! Not an easy read (neither is Tinseltown, but in a very different way), but I could barely put it down.

Josh got me hooked on gay mysteries, I think. Once I've run out of the ones on my Kindle, I'll re-read the Adrien English books to see if I can find more.

And thank you for mentioning Tinseltown, because that is also a book I've meant to read for some time, but I seem to have totally forgotten about it. :) And yes, I know exactly what you mean when you say how difficult it was to put down Scorpion. The night before last I stayed up until 6 a.m. reading it. I'm sooooo screwed when the school starts and I can't spend my nights reading and commenting on Somebody Killed His Editor. *g*

I've read it. It's good, maybe not outstanding like some people mean. I still haven't rated it, it would be 3,5 stars for me. In such occasions I'd really like half stars from GR...

Tinseltown is lovely, absolutely recommended :)

I loved it! It's absolutely hilarious, laughed a lot while reading and that is always a good sign. :-)) Okay, so maybe it has some flaws in writing or the plot but the fun more than compensates for that. And so I gave 5 stars. :)

Yes, sometimes you get so much enjoyment from a story that you are willing to overlook some flaws and give a rating about the enjoyment... Another thing to add to GR the rating systems: double rating ;-)

I'd be very much in favor of this :-)
