I liked Ransom, it reminded me of the pirate books I used to read when I was a child.

I'm reading A to Z by Maries Sexton. It's such a sweet book, sometimes I just go for romance.

Oh I love Marie Sexton's books, the whole Coda Book series is simply AWESOME. First book was Promises which was totally my type of book; u know with cops and all lol; then A to Z and and the Letter Z. And the 4th book Strawberries for Dessert was a little bit different and loved reading that book, I just love this author. Oh and I know One More Soldier is really popular too; but I don't like no HEA so didn't get the courage to read it and i won't

message 753: by Heather C (new)

Heather C (heathercook) I recently read the Coda series too. Promises is still my favorite m/m book I've read. I thought books 2 and 3 were just ok. I didn't like Zach and Ang, but its worth reading just to see Matt and Jared again. Check out Marie Sexton's web page and read The Promise, a short story about Matt and Jared!! Strawberries for Dessert is really good too

Heather C (heathercook) I read it while I was at work and was in tears sitting at my desk. So romantic!

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments You should have warned me so that I could me put my cold-hearted shield on, I have to protect myself from romantic moments :)

Oh I love romantic moments, but not the cheesy ones

message 762: by Heather C (new)

Heather C (heathercook) That's was a "happy" cry though!! Better than a "sad" cry, right??!!

She's releasing another short story on Feb 14th!!

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments I am twisted, I know, but I find myself less equipped for "happy" cry than for "sad" cry. Sadness is, I don't know how to put it in a way that doesn't sound too bitter, to be expected in general. The "happy" cry is good for a moment, it rocks my world for a little while, then I get back to ordinary life and it never compares. Ok, I'm officially a cynical person :)

Mary (mary-soto) | 37 comments Marie Sexton is a wonderful storyteller. I've read most of the Coda Books (still have A to Z and the Letter Z on TBR), but I'm really looking forward to Putting Out Fires (more Matt & Jared-YAAAY!) and particularly Between Sinners and Saints.

Mary (mary-soto) | 37 comments Had to put a hold on His Name is John, although the few pages I read made for an interesting beginning-the font is driving me crazy, so sadly it's going to have to wait. Now I'm so caught up on American Love Songs by Ashlyn Kane-really enjoying it; and Fish & Chips. I also just got Seabourne's Handler-I'm just loving that cover. :D

message 775: by Heather C (new)

Heather C (heathercook) LC, trust me, I will not be going near that one. Thanks for the warning. That's why I stopped reading Nicholas Sparks years ago!!!! That man can write a beautiful romance, why does he have to ruin it with tragedy??!! Ugh!

Yes, thanks for asking, Bella. I am eventually -- 2012 is my plan -- to do a follow up on TGWYS, although I do have to admit that the further away I get from the book the more I wonder what I thought there was left to right about.

(Maybe I need to reread it one of these days.)

I haven't, no. What is it you're enjoying so much about it, Emanuela.

I always like to know what it is that turns a book from good to great for any individual reader.

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments Josh wrote: "Emanuela ~Zstyx~ wrote: "Has anyone read Mongrel by K.Z. SnowMongrel? So far it's amazing."

It's a steampunk-fantasy book and I don't know why this setting always grips me. The main character haunted me while I was reading, I was at work and still thinking about it. In the world of the book there are Pures (100% human) and Mongrels (they are branded with a ratio that expresses their mixed nature). There's a sort of apartheid, the two kinds don't mix and the Mongrels are persecuted. The leader of the Mongrels is this incredible guy, Fanule Perfidor. Just the name gives me a warm feeling. I totally fell in love with him. He has this dangerous aura, but he's kind and generous, probably bipolar. And *cough* hot *cough*

It doesn't happen very often that I bring characters with me, they become like a presence on the back of my mind. It happened while I was reading Adrien English this summer and then it happened with Belimai from The Wicked Gentlemen. When I tell this to my friends, they think I'm crazy. I'm book-possessed, there must be someone out there sharing this feeling :)

I hope you're feeling better, Josh!

Bubbles Hunty Honest & Direct Opinions (vapidbubbles) So I finally finished the Contact series, book one; How To Steal Blade by Jade Archer and i loved them. they are all so different but still connected because all the slaves are from the same tribe. Each book got better as you go along. I think i really liked them because they reminded me of Joss Whedon's Firefly and well yeah just awesome.

About to start The Long Way Home but thought I'd pimp the contact series because it really was fun reading it.

I liked it. It made me laugh a few times. Kevin, the psychic, is great, but Connor is a bit immature and selfish in my opinion.

Oh yes; as a reader I must say that this particular book can go one for 2-3 more books :D Also it was a very critical mystery and some parts even scared me; I mean when Perry found the body and it was suddenly gone- I was sure it was a ghost and must say the title is a bit responsible for this scary thought of mine. Silly me :P

Oh no Josh, actually it's totally opposite. I hardly read shifter books. I mean I can do were wolves or panthers if they r written by good authors{for example Change of Heart by Mary Calmes} but I can never EVER read shifter books on were cat or duck *pukes* no offense to those who likes them but I can't even imagine two protagonists suddenly turning into cats and mewing; just yuck..

And about Surviving the Change- the blurb was really good so I chose it.And the book totally made up to my expectation :D The story writing was really good. I mean I couldn't stop reading once I started it, the characters were so well drawn that I felt like I can feel each and every raw emotions they were going through. The story kept up the pace till the end and the ending was superb. And last but not the least- the chemistry between the 2 characters were really good and the side characters were well drawn too.

No. I think that's normal. For some, books are a commodity or something they study or read to blog on but for some of us books are portals into other worlds and other lives and our adventures there stay with us. Sometimes even change how we look at the world we live in.

LOL well said :P

Emanuela ~plastic duck~ (manutwo) | 1768 comments I think Duck! by Kim Dare Duck! was a great book, it's a retelling of The Ugly Duckling tale and the avian-shifter theme was very well done. The author created a hierarchy of avian species in the book and it worked for the dom/sub relationship of the protagonists.

It's easy to border on ridiculousness with a shifter story, but when it's well done, it's... well done. :)
