What else are you reading? (June 2010 - May 2013) *closed*

Yeah! I'm not the only one! ;-) Jorrie, you're absolutely right about reading the books in order. I'm amazed that the books are considered YA; I always thought they read as though written for a more mature audience. Especially because the plots are so twisty and turn-y.

I quote myself, ha ha
Just finished the book. It's a wonderful story, it reminds you how limited the point of view of your narrator is sometimes. The characters are flawed, each one of them hides something to the reader and to each other and I recommend it. Be warned: it's not light.

Wow just read the blurb Emanuela and it sounds really good :D X-lovers getting back together and mysteries and cops - I love all these :D

Me too. Troubled and unresolved ex-lovers is my favorite plot, that's why I liked Fair Game a lot.
I don't know if it's possible to be resolved ex-lovers, but bear with me :)

I so agree; this particular theme just make the stories more interesting :D

LOL.
It's one of my favorites too.

Did you cry at all Em or am I just that big of a sissy? Did you hate Robert at the end or did you forgive him for lying to you through the whole story? I didn't forgive him and I really wish JD wouldn't have stayed with him.

Can someone please explain how to get a book from Calibre to my reader? I converted "Icecapade" but I'm just not getting the rest. It's been a long time since I've been this frustrated!!

Bubbles (Dane) wrote: "which ereader are you using?"
I have kindle, eReader, stanza programs on my iphone and also an ebookwise reader.

Thank you! Sadly,(unbelievably) I read the help section several times but it still wouldn't click. This is a big help!

There might be spoilers!
I cried at the two "I love you"'s from JD first and then from Christopher. And I wasn't really able to forgive Robert, ok, I get that they're working things out, but... maybe that was the point, they weren't talking.
I also liked the way JD's vulnerability showed when he was telling the truth. The truth should make you strong, right? But in this case it was a weakness. Really subtle. Loved it. I want me some JD. And some Bill too :)

Just finished In The Flesh by Ethan Stone last week. Now reading Don't Look Back; finished Icecapade last night - loved it!
I just started reading Josh's books about a month ago. I never thought I would care for Mystery's in this genre, but Josh has completely changed all of that. I started with Fair Game and continued on to the AE series. That's why I am mostly reading Josh at this time, but some of my all-time fave reads are:
Promises by Marie Sexton (sexual tension at it's finest)
Warrior's Cross by Madeleine Urban (this book kept me up until 3 in the morning, two nights in a row, I could not put it down)
Zero at the Bone by Jane Seville (loved the dynamics in this book)

LOL no spoiler please; still reading the book :P

ETA says the tentative release date for Infected: Life After Death is May of 2011."

Currently reading St. Nachos by ZA Maxfield

I looks like she is pulling them as she publishes BUT the newer "books" of the series are still up. Odd that her publisher is allowing it. There are still many "books" of the series there -even one that is still in process.

I've been very fortunate to have had time to read lots of excellent books. I would highly recommend all of them.

Fish & Chips was poignant and humorous. I'm most impressed with the growth of the authors as co-writers. Each of the books in this series has been better than the previous one.
Trust Me If You Dare is flat out fun. Ce and Dan are outrageous, especially their penchant for nearly public sex! I can't wait to see how their relationship develops. I want the story behind Dan's burn scars.
I'm not a big one for too much angst. Lots of things in real life are "angsty." I tend to gravitate toward books that have a healthy dose of humor and great dialogue between great characters. That's why I loved All She Wrote so much. The plot is a nice balance of both humor and seriousness.

Anyways gonna read Evangeline Anderson's new book called Forever Broken; love all her m/m books specially The Assignment, so cant' wait to read this one

Thanks, Patty. I prefer a little humor to leaven the tension, myself.

Aw. It's hard finishing up a vacation!

U know what's more hard? Attending the boring classes with more boring professors; I wish I had some sort of time machine or something like that; I feel like crying :'(
Just finished Sutcliffe Cove by Ariel Tachna & Madeleine Urban. Somewhat disappointed though; although a very nice love story, there is absolutely no conflict whatsoever. Everytime I thought there would be a conflict, or challenge for the protag's of some sort, it all seemed to iron itself out very neatly and the love story continued.
Also, read several short stories and re-read A Bit of Rough by Laura Baumbach and Snowed In by Rhianne Aile & Madeleine Urban.
Now waiting for a book on my wish list to be published tomorrow!
I love a book with some serious angst in it! I guess when you've been with the same person for a while (my husband and I have been together for 18 years), you miss out on the "angst" so I like to get it from the books I read and write. Easy to read, not so easy to write! I would love a good writing article on just angst - HINT, HINT ;)

Oh no. Well, you know as awful as it is now, before you know it the semester will be over.

That's a pretty good topic -- I haven't seen much done on that. I'll make a note of it.

No biggie, precious_boy by K.Z. Snow. My Wish List on Dreamspinner is busting at the seams here lately. I am also waiting for Handler by Stefan Seabourne to be published on the 12th.
Just started reading My Father's Lover by D.J. Manly last night. This book has a twist I haven't seen before - a gay young man from N.Y. who is somewhat prejudiced against queers and female impersonators. His older half-brother is a California gay who considers his half-brother homophobic. A refreshing change from the straight-vs.-gay battles I normally see. Even though, I prefer my books to be sans political issues.
Just bought For Love of War by Kiernan Kelly this morning and I cannot wait to read this one! I have read many books in the past by popular het romance authors who have used the Greek/Roman gods for their stories, but this will be the first time I will be reading the gods in an M/M context! Gotta love it! :)

Oh yes it was a good read although I prefer the sequel more. The characters were really good no doubt but I got lost at the ending somehow but the second book made up for it :D

I read parts of Coffee and Doughnuts. I thought it was promising.
**Promising enough to take another look at if I EVER get caught up here -- and more likely to, having read these comments**

I also finished Ransom by Lee Rowan. It's similar in style and tone to Charlie Cochrane's Cambridge mysteries and Alex Beecroft's historical novels.

Thank you, Dane! I already feel better knowing this because I was investing a lot emotionally, I'll try to be more detached :)
