I like it!
I like it!

Good! ;-)
For my part I've just noticed I missed one of his books, so I'll have to get it: A Trader in Topaz

Yes! When I need lighthearted, I almost always head for Peters's Jaqueline Kirby books (I like Amelia Peabody, but I kinda ran out of steam halfway through the series) or for Sharyn McCrumb. I love

Actually, it's very bad, Antonella. My credit card is screaming in pain, and my WIP feels terribly neglected!

OK, that's bad, I agree. Especially because I like what you write ;-).

YES. I'd read that just for its campiness. It would be a hilarious read and you HAVE to write it now. lol.

You'll have to let me know what you think of it. I liked it, but not as much as I'd hoped I would. And that's all book character references aside. lol. I only read it to enjoy it. I wasn't checking the facts to see if they were correct, as you already know.

I took a break from M/M to read YA, and then immediately went back to M/M and started to reread GhosTV again last night. I don't know what that means, or what I'll be reading tonight. Guess I'll find out later.

Christopher, if your current job doesn't work out I think you're next one should be a screenwriter. :D

I was disappointed with it, to be honest. But I thought it was well-written and well-researched. I initially feared I was going to be treated to reworked Sherlock Holmes fan fiction, but it didn't go that way (to my great relief).
The things I didn't like about it are entirely subjective, so if I were to review it, I would certainly give it five stars.
It's unlikely I'll buy anything else by her though.

I think I gave it four. And yeah, what I didn't like was subjective too. Kind of minor, over all.
I'm now back to reading this really interesting nonfic book: Gay Bar: The Fabulous, True Story of a Daring Woman and Her Boys in the 1950s This story still amazes me. I'm hoping nothing else will get in the way of me finishing it. It's such a skinny book, I should have finished it by now! lol.

I think this is right up there with The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks as my favourite of Josh's works.
There's just so much pain in the Nathan Doyle character, it's lovely to read. (That makes me sound like a complete sadist doesn't it?)
It's also the most angst filled of Josh's backlist, although it's not the least bit overdone or melodramatic. I love a bit of angsty goodness, but often it's used so liberally that it feels as if the author is emotionally manipulating the reader in a bad way rather than a good way. Not in this case however.
I also have a soft spot for novels set in the Hollywood Golden Age, which this depicts wonderfully.
I really want to read the rest of this series.

Those are two of my favorites. Another one of mine is Josh's Cards on the Table. Sounds like you'd enjoy that one too if you haven't already read it.
I finally started to read Irregulars after finishing All She Wrote and Dark Soul Vol. 4 which both were excellent reads and left me in euphoric state. :)

I've read everything he's written (well...everything available on Amazon anyway)!
I'm now in the process of re-reading to enable me to wring out every drop of Lanyony goodness to satisfy my insatiable need.

... with the right end pages?
Anyway: there is no story discussion on ''Out of the Blue''! Someone should do something!
And we were discussing covers somewhere here: I've just taken the anthology

1) the fella is taking a shower
2) but what has he got in his hand near his ear?
3) *looks better* Headphones with cord?!? Does he want to be electrocuted?
4) and what's behind him? *perplexed* Strange shower...
5) *looks better* It's a cockpit!
Well, no one can say the cover doesn't relate to the novels ;-). Just the logic of a dripping wet fella in a cockpit is somehow flawed...
NB: my previous assumption was that I do look at covers, but only the covers of paper books. Extenuating circumstances: I had waited ages to get the anthology, because back then I still insisted on getting books on paper if possible, so for sure I didn't look that long to the cover once I got the book.

Maybe he's sweating really badly? Listening to music, or radio chatter in a cockpit? Who knows. Very odd.

I recently re-purchased Snowball... because I had read that he wd be coming out with a sequel. I'm glad you mentioned it, as I couldn't remember it and your comments give me the impetus to go back to it.
Also, I'm just reading his contribution to the Irregulars. Almost finished w/it I think, and I think it's smashing. I must admit, I miss Josh--not saying he shouldn't enjoy his sabatical.

Actually, Christopher, every one of those movies--and I really enjoyed them (not the remake)--I vainly hoped for and dreamed up a m/m subplot. It's high time, isn't it?

I adore apocalyptic and dystopian movies & fics. We need more of them in M/M. (YesYesYes)

There's a few I haven't read yet. I'm slowly doling them out as rewards for good behavior. (Which is why I only get to read a new Lanyon book every couple of months.)

Ironically of course, the re-make did have a gay sub-plot!

Ever since I read Lucifer's Hammer by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven as a kid, and then watched the BBC TV movie 'Threads' about the effects of full scale nuclear war, I've been addicted to end of civilisation stories.

I've never had that amount of self control!
I'm the same with food. Leave me alone in a room with a box of chocolates or a plate of cupcakes, and pretty soon I'll be stuffing one after another of them into my mouth in an attempt to hit the pleasure centre of my brain again and again and again.

I do plan on a sequel. It was too complex to tackle while I was so tired and burnt out. And in fact I may do a simpler novella before I tackle the big Japanese internment story.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm currently doing two years of taxes so the sabbatical is less enjoyable than it might be. But after we get this finished, I do plan to delve back into that huge, enticing pile of TBR.

Don't worry, it's only the last two pages* and only in the paper edition.
And it's not so bad: it's just that if one reads the ''right'' one, that one is much better. If you don't know, you don't notice it.
*as far as I know! ;-)

Japanese internment story? *is very intrigued*

My somehow simpler explanation: a nekkid hunk on the cover is still considered a good selling point ;-).

Well, it's an ending that some readers find abrupt as is, so the earlier draft version that made its way into the first print edition is probably going to jar.

It's sort of a beautiful cover, though. Okay, yes, the nekkid radio man in the cockpit is perhaps a TAD much, but still...it gets the message across.

They're great. Another one of those books with characters that get under your skin and make you think about them and care about them. Joe and Kabe have such distinctive voices.
I wish she'd write another book in this series.

Hey, it gets hot in those cockpits. :)

I never said its not beautiful, just that I realized only *now* that he is not in a shower

It gets lots of messages across ;-)

While I was down at my folks for the funeral, my little brother was reading Ace Frehley's autobiography/KISSstory,
