India and Colonial India are surprisingly underused in fantasy, I think. There's such a wealth of material there.

I can't wait for the next book either, especially since they're still rattling around in my head. ;-) "
And Fish and Chips is out Finally ^_____^
Although I'm confused now, should I read it tonight or tomorrow; because the quicker I read, the quicker the fun is gonna end :P it's a bittersweet situation.

Josh, congrats on holding #1 (and Harper, ZAM & ..."
Yes I have dear :D
and Congrats Josh :D

Yeah I tried and it didn't work either, and sadly my inquiry on whether it's their site having the problem or IE hasn't been answered by Carina. I've been trying all afternoon and no luck for downloading still. *HUGE SIGH*

Well, I've pretty much addressed this over at the General News thread, but just let me apologize again for the inconvenience!
I know it's frustrating as hell, but Carina really is working to fix it as fast as they can. The last thing they want is to lose sales, so of course they're doing their best to get it straight.

Hopefully it worked! If not, I'd hold off till tomorrow.

Hey Josh, thanks very much! It's alright, it appears that whatever the problem was has finally been taken care of-I finally managed to DL Icecapade just a minute ago. :D

Now to wait anxiously for All She Wrote, it's a great thing that I have Fish & Chips, Trusted Bond, and Infected: Bloodlines to tide me over 'til then.

Thanks Josh, for making this holiday more fun with this book^^
Now as Mary said- clock is ticking for All She Wrote ;)

I just finished Fish and Chips too. Great story! I think each book in this series has gotten successively better.
Starting His for the Holidays today. I love that so many of my favorite authors have books out this month.

Umm... I think different on this point. Cut and Run was awesome. Sticks&Stones,Fish&Chips r good no doubt but they didn't do judgement to the first book. That's just my opinion though :(

God, it's good. It' got that whole criminal/cop thing going. Reminds me a bid of Ice-capades actually. The characters are engaging and there is much humor. If you want the smutty parts you have to read them separately on her site. I didn't miss them tho, the interaction between the 2 main characters is really good without the details. Tho, I must say, the details are fun too...:)

It's great that you say so, Nichem -- book sales typically slow during the holidays as readers have to spend their money elsewhere. ;-) But this year, elsewhere might very well mean books!

Did you find it on her website? It was verrry goooood...

Bella-re F&C-Can you give some examples as to why? I thought the technical aspects of the writing were much better. There was more sex in this book, did that bother you? Tho it was nothing compared to many writers in this genre. (thank god)

Sorry, I was unclear, the download is not free-almost -only 95 cents. It is free to read online. (tho I did part with my 4 bucks)

And Heck no..I didn't hate the sex part,if I did,I wouldn't be that much of a m/m fan :P LOLz
About Fish&Chips-I'm not an expert.Just a simple reader so can't say much about writing style. All I want in a book is a flow u know and action too-specially for this type of books.Sticks&Stones was almost like family drama. And Fish&Chips was good at first, then became really boring in the middle. It was like they were talking, and talking and nothing else.I got bored and skipped pages. And then they caught the criminal so quickly. But yeah this book was a lil' bit heavy on emotional part which made up for the lost points and I got to finish it

That's interesting. I felt that we were suppose to be feeling his -anguish if you will-at the sentiment not being returned verbally. So if would have felt very "flat" to him. NO? I know WE would have felt better if Zane had fallen all over himself but then where would we go in the next book?
This is something we see in AE too. Alot...al little too lot-ha, ha.
I think these authors subscribe to the Joss Whedon-give them what they need not what they want-method of writing.
~Just me obviously. I love Ty and Zane so much that if they were doing the dishes, I'd be right there reading about it!
As long as I can sample a good portion for free. I spent a lot of money on ebooks last month and most of it has sadly turned out to be C-R-A-P.

Hmmm. Now that's something that particularly interests me because I'm always thinking of ways to boost the impact of those scenes. I've been reading a couple of stories (fan fiction) where the big scene is kind of a let down, and trying to analyze why.
Sometimes I'm not even sure why it's a let down.

Oh! Well, I think I know what you're saying there, Lori. In that case, yes! Some readers are going to be frustrated, but that's the course of the story. It's a series. You can't give it all away too soon. ;-D

@ Josh-I would love to hear your thoughts on this scene after you read it. Is that kosher? Do you think Abigail and Madeline would mind?
I still have to read the second book, but yes, I'll share my thoughts, Lori. It's all good press for the book, regardless of the opinions expressed, but I wouldn't be negative about fellow authors, regardless.
It goes without saying that I adore the dynamic they've set up here.
Their series does remind me a little of the DG series, so I'm already strongly predisposed to like it. My only objection to the first book was the clumsy switches of POV, but that seems to have been mostly sorted out? The story itself, I really enjoyed.

He, he. Josh, you know we love you or we wouldn't tease you so much.
I appreciate emotional modesty.
I think it's more realistic. Male or female, we're not any of us prone to great, dramatic and flowery speeches of our feelings. I know some readers want more, bigger...but I can't do it. It feels false to me. And I don't expect -- or want -- it from other writers.
But we all bring a certain amount of emotional baggage to our reading. Which is why some readers find some stories so "off." And others feel like the author could be talking about them.

Very insightful, I never thought about it that way.
Jeez, I have to get back to work.

I feel the same about the Dangerous Ground series. There is so much to that relationship, I expect them to be more cautious about their feelings.

Hey...now that's offending. I never talked about any flowery speeches. I'm not that crap of a reader. But I have my own expectations. For example,in your I Spy Something Bloody, when Stephen re-confessed his feeling for Mark during a shootout-that's what I call a proper confession where the reader can understand what the protagonists r feeling through or going through :@ and besides I have my own rights 2 b wanting more :D

Bella, I think Josh was responding to many remarks, not just your initial post. Look at the discussion you got going though!

I thought that scene was very well done. I felt Ty's pain when his declaration wasn't returned. And although as a reader I would have enjoyed a gushy scene where Zane said he felt the same way, I think the way the authors handled it was more in keeping with the character of both guys. Ty's an act on instinct, jump in with two feet kind of guy, while Zane is cautious and needs to study everything from all sides before making a move. Plus, I think Zane has lots of old issues to sort out before he can really move forward. And as Lori K said, they need to leave something for the next book. :P
Sorry, Josh, have we totally spoilered the book for you now?
