What else are you reading? (June 2010 - May 2013) *closed*

It's really hard 2 name any specific reasons for me 2 like them. At first it seemed boring, but after the entrance of the cullens, it just got better page by page. And then there is Edward Cullen. She drew this character with her words so beautifully...She draws romance so beautifully in her books, just awesome. Although at Breaking Dawn after Bella was turned into Vamp- it got a bit boring. Now she's writing Midnight Sun.It new version of twilight from Edward's view. It's available on her site as the main copy was somehow leaked on the net. It's not finished yet though

Yikes.
Yikes.

It's really demoralizing when people betray your trust -- reviewers who post books to torrent sites is unfortunately a common one in this genre.

That reminds me - goodreads has a page 4 Mexican Heat's sequel Tequila Sunrise; is this book ever gonna b published? funny thing is, it has marking ratio of 4.40 when it's not even published yet :P

I first read your sentence as "peeyew, both are on my fav authors list..." :D
That just goes to show how accurate Good Reads ratings are. ;-D
No. Sorry to say the sequel to MH was shelved.

Or I could be totally biased. *g* "
I'm biased, too, at this point, because I know Harper's stories will be unique. She stands out in the crowd.
I loved the fact that Laurie was a contradiction in terms. He was young, but responsible. He could play the part as an actor of an older, experienced character, and yet, he was inexperienced in many ways. I especially loved the conviction of his heart where he and Sasha were concerned.

Agreed. He is probably most responsible for my book addiction. I was spending pocket money on his books, even sacrificing riding lessons sometimes so I could afford the hardback :)

"
LOL! Hell Yeah... as a romance reader I totally agree ; we always want more :D

I agree with you, Jan, it's a gorgeous story. I was able to make the transition to another book because I had Because of the Brave to move on to next. Another wonderful anthology; especially the novella Until We Meet Once More. ;-)

Until We Meet Once More is excellent too, enjoy it.

I'm woiking, I'm woiking! I'm about to the halfway point on Come Unto These Yellow Sands. It's an odd story. Very emotional and because he's a poet...it has a removed quality to it. I'm hoping it will work, but I honestly can't tell yet!

I have a feeling you're really going to enjoy this new anthology from Carina Press!

OMG!! I just checked Carina's web. I didn't even know about this one! U and Z.A.Maxfield on the same book! Can't wait :D
And then there's All She Wrote :D
I think this is going to be one kick-ass antho -- we've got ZAM, Harper, LB Gregg and moi all in one collection. Pretty much one of those incredible space and time continuums.

Until We Meet Once..."
You are working too hard, have faith in yourself, I'm sure it will work beautifully. Your stories have never disappointed, even Strange Fortune which I never thought I would enjoy.
Take care.

It sounds like it will be very interesting to read; another departure from a typical mystery. The cover of Yellow Sands really captures the "removed quality" and the pensive look of Sebastian.

I'm glad she's in the anthology - which I've just pre-ordered, because I'm afraid the euro will depreciate in the near future :-)
It's definitely a different approach because Swift is someone with zero interest in solving a murder. He's about as far removed from sleuth as a character can get, so trying to figure out what his approach would be is interesting.

Mary, I've heard such great things about BtB. What's it about?

Well, if the financial world collapses at least everyone will have a couple of books to read for the first day or so.

I Love the the St. Nacho's series, I've read them several times over. My fav is the last one! :D Hopefully we get more of this series...
Drawn Together... Couldn't get past the first few chapters.

Is your writing in this book as spare as it is in your other stories? (Spare but beautifully descriptive is a wonderful skill, by the way.) The reason I ask is because I'm wondering if your writing style is influenced by the authors you mentor, or if it encourages you to try something a little bit different.

I'm reading a lot of poetry as I write this so it may be affecting my own style. It would be nice if this has a more lyrical feel, but the lyrics may be all in my own head. *g*
When it comes to the evaluations and editing I fear it's more likely me doing the influencing. In fact, I have to guard against that because some of my writing preferences are purely personal -- it's important to remember not to impose that on other writers.

Hopefully it's enough to catch your interest. I think it's a fabulous novel. It is the story about Bob-a 'gay' book-told through his perspective. :)

That's a good review. It sounds like Black Beauty for books. I'm afraid if I read it I'll never get rid of another book. :-)

Thanks! Glad you liked the review. :D

I totally agree ; that's why I like her books so much, while reading Drawn Together I felt like I was reading an yaoi manga; loved it :D

I think you've achieved your goal; at least from the excerpt I read it seems to read differently from some of your other stories. That was actually the reason for my question.
I totally understand the editing/revising influence. I had a student ask me once, "When do I get to write my story?" when we were working together. I tried never to make that mistake again.

Lee Brazil. See, this is the value of authors using social networking. I'd never heard of Lee Brazil -- or the name hadn't registered -- until today when she wrote such a charming note on Face Book after reading The Dickens With Love. Now your note pops up here and I think, Oh! I need to check out Lee Brazil's work. The name now registers.

I always think that's a great pairing for Strange Fortune.

Well, m/m stories with any kind of an Indian background are pretty few and far between. Of course we've got totally different takes on it, but I still think it makes for a fun theme.

Is The Host a different series?
I've never been keen on the vampire thing. Laura Baumbach wrote a story -- Dark of Night or something like that -- and it was probably the first time I enjoyed a vampire story. I know they're hugely popular, though! And getting more popular all the time.
What is it you especially like about the books?
