I'm going to need a 2nd mortgage. ;-p
As for me...No idea. I don't have a release date on the Spoils of War reissue, hasn't occurred to me to ask if that's been decided yet. Should be coming up soon-ish, I imagine. I just don't know if it'll be 2013 or after the new year.

I have Single Use Only coming out next week (sorry, I can't remember how to do one of those add thingies). And that's it.
I'm working on another story, which 25K words, in still doesn't have a title. Titles either come to me right away or I struggle for most of the story. I don't think Single Use got its title until I was finished the first draft.

I'll start.

This means that Winter Kill is pushed to next year? :O

LOL! I agree, of course!

Yes. That was pushed back quite a while ago -- when I realized how crazily optimistic I'd been about what I could accomplish in a year. Even the current schedule is insanely optimistic.

Know that your own personal cheering section is out here in the ether, pulling for you. You can do it! Yaaaaaay Josh!
:)

Josh said in his message 4969 which listed what he hoped to finish by the end of the year:
"And -- I hope (but this may depend on my wrists) -- The Boy With the Painful Tattoo. "
I can't wait for The Parting Glass. This morning I woke up and was half asleep when it dawned on me exactly which short story those two guys were from. Then I was awake instantly jumping up to grab the book to make absolutely sure. Cause, yeah, I've been waiting for that sequel for a very long time! And I couldn't believe that I'd forgotten which story they were from. I kept getting it mixed up with another story. Oiy. lol. Soooo excited...

Same here. I kept mixing it up with another one that's coming soon so when I read through the thread the other day and realized it was the sequel for Tim and Luke, I got really excited. In A Dark Wood is one of my favorites.

Yes. The wrists have been kicking up a fuss. I'm not sure if that's no swimming or simply psychosomatic. Or both. :-D I have been typing a hell of a lot.

It's all up to my formatting person now. I'm trying to be patient. :-D NOT my strong suit.

I honestly don't know. I know I will write it. But realistically...four weeks for Kick Start, then we start getting into holiday territory and the Christmas project and the codas, which all will take longer than I think.
Once Boy is done, it goes to my old editor -- who has a backlist a mile long -- and then formatting...it's not likely it will be in before the end of the year. Unless I get some blazing burst of speed and focus -- and how likely is that around the holidays? Anything but.

Above all, take care of those wrists. You are giving us so much between now and the end of the year. I'm excited. I love Kit and JX, but The Boy with the Painful Tattoo can wait until next year.

Hmmm. It's the retraining part that would be tricky. I really struggle with impatience and the impulse to just get it done!

I have a friend with a disability that is frustrated learning to type.
I will forward the info to him. I found this of particular interest. Thanks, again. 8)
eta another good link- http://www.dvorak-keyboards.com/teach...

I don't think I could do it at this point. I think I'm one of those old dogs....

Also have you considered this type of keyboard?

I loved it. And so sad when it was broken and I can't replace it.

The Microsoft board is the one I use on my desktop. It took me a little while to get used to it, but yes. I've come to appreciate it. In fact, it's time to replace, given that the letters all wore off ages ago! ;-)

I wish I Could replace mine... No where to buy it in Bangkok, Thailand now... :(. And it is too bulky to put in a suitcase if I were to travel.
The letters on mine faded over time as well. Seems to be common issue with this particular model. I bought keyboard stickers to put on the key though.

Congrats, Pender! Congrats, Josh!"
:-D

I have always written a little bit, but I've never finished anything. If I do Nano, I'm going to pick up an in progress project, rather than start something brand new.

This is my 8th year as NaNoWriMo ML and 10th year as participant. I convinced my Co-ML to stay on as ML for two more years before we give it up.
I'm working on the plot for book one of a six book series. They might be novellas, I don't know. Im also working on the other plots a little bit so if book one fails me in the middle of November I'll have something else to fall back on, unlike last year.

I think something like 5 of my books had their start during nano (although I've always broken the rules and used the nano to finish one project and start another, so that number is a little inflated).
I'm not sure how it would be useful if you're already writing to deadlines? But I guess I'm always running full out, so there really wouldn't be much to gain by adding something else to the race. :-D

I still have something of a day job but it's true I'm writing through most of the year. But somehow it feels friendlier in November when I know 10,000 other people are going full out with me.

I wrote my Love Has No Boundaries during Camp NaNo earlier this year, and have never 'won' the full Nano. This will be my 4th attempt.

I think it's geared more towards the writer-to-be, or as in my case, the writer-that-never-finishes-anything.

Thanks, Na, and K.Z. and Dev.
I may be ready to move into the Fanyon House for the Elderly and Infirm, but I didn't forget I had a new release. I'm not that far gone yet. ;) But I did have out-of-town company for a couple of days so I've been mostly offline. Nice to be back, catching up on everyone's activities.
And congrats to Josh!

Do you write sex scenes as you're going along, or do you tend to leave them for last and insert them (heh) after the rest of the story is completed? In either case, why?

I rough them out, in particular the dialog -- which is often a turning point conversation -- and then I go back and fill in. Which is kind of what I do with most action scenes, except in a gun battle there usually isn't much meaningful dialog. ;-)
I'm not sure why, other than most action scenes seem to need more rewriting and in the first draft I'm focused on just bashing it all out.

Do we actually know that...? ;)

Thanks for the answer. I've always been curious about how other writers handle this.

The "big" scenes are the ones I rewrite the most, and because I don't add a lot of erotic scenes, the ones I have sort of carry more weight, which means I do a lot of rewriting and tweaking. Again, mostly the dialog, because I think in those scenes the dialog means a lot. But also I think a lot about the power dynamic in the scene. Not who is inserting what body part into what orifice (that may or may not be relevant), but who is cherishing whom, who is in control, who is the most vulnerable, the most naked.

Sammie, what I have decided to do is release the codas as their own work. I'll be doing an (ebook only) compilation this year.
I don't know that they would make a lot of sense as audio books given that they often fall between "chapters."

Well...I've received requests for these over the year, but what would be the real advantage of them? Like...it's just packaging, right? Why would you guys want a box set? What am I missing here?
