Stefne Miller (stefnemiller) | 32 comments I'd never set out to write a book, honestly never even thought about wanting to. But one night while I was visiting a friend in Arkansas, I had a very vivid dream. In the dream the Lord and I were taking a walk and he asked me if I would join him on a new journey. We argued about it for a while (or I did anyway) and then I finally said yes. When I woke up, I felt compelled to write it down. The next night I had another dream. This time it was a scene between a boy and a girl - it ended up being the first scene in the book when Attie and Riley see each other. Every night for about 2 weeks I would dream a scene, wake up and write it down and then go back to bed. Then, I stopped dreaming it but the story continued to grow in my mind. It wasn't until I was about 6 chapters in that I realized I might be writing a book. I never planned it, outlined it, thought it through - nothing. It came to me chapter by chapter and I didn't know what was going to happen until I wrote it down. BTW - I gave the dream of walking with the Lord to Attie. Made it her dream.
(2) Attie isn't based on anyone. All my friends tell me that she's me. I guess she is in some ways but I didn't base her or Riley on anyone. Almost everyone is based on a real person or literary character. Pops and Marme: Mr. and Mrs. Bennett from P&P. Tammy, Anne, Jennifer: all my current friends and those are their real names. Tammy is actually my best friend and she's exactly like her character.
(3) I just finished "Rise" which is the sequel to Salvaged. I am hoping to submit it to the publisher for consideration in July. My prayer is that Salvaged will pick up a little steam and it will give cause for the publisher to say yes to the sequel. I've also started a third and fourth novel. They are both totally different and separate from the first two or each other. I'm just trying to figure out which one to go with next. I kinda wish I'd dream it again and I'd have an answer! LOL!
Thanks for the questions!
Oh, and by the way, the friend who's house I had the first dream at? Anne and she is just like her character in the book.

Stefne Miller (stefnemiller) | 32 comments Well you just made my Sunday! :-)

I never dreamt that getting books on a bookstore shelves is so hard! The books can be ordered at any bookstore but will only start being stocked if the demand rises. I know in my area all the book stores (including Barnes and Noble) are carrying it because it was requested so much. Right now, everything is based on word of mouth. I'm hoping that those who have read it will tell more people about it and people will start going into their book stores and ordering a copy.
There's no doubt that the people that read the book fall in love with it. I've been overwhelmed with all the positive feedback. As a matter of fact, a Young Adult (secular) Book Review blog reviewed it and gave it an A+. Her love of the book has caused other blogs to want to review it. As of right now, I have 9 blogs and 3 blog tours reviewing the book very soon. Put all the sites together and you have a readership of over 5,000.
BTW- If you'd like to get the Salvaged newsletter (it gives updates and a cut scene from the book), email me at stefnemiller@yahoo.com.
Thanks for all the support! I truly appreciate it!
