Dumbledore knew from the start what he would need to prepare Harry to do (in regards to Voldemort). Throughout Harry's years at Hogwarts, Dumbledore directly and indirectly guides and teaches him. He takes the time to truly know Harry; aside from their conversations, he watches him closely (and it also seems that he listens to the observations of other teachers). Dumbledore's scrutiny extends to Harry's friends, whose importance to Harry's success Dumbledore understands. Dumbledore doesn't need to have a one-on-one conversation with Ron to understand Ron’s feelings of inferiority: he's familiar with the Weasleys (meaning that he knows that Ron has been raised in a loving, supportive family and has never had to provide for himself) and knows what Ron sees in the Mirror of Erised in his first year - Dumbledore can see that Ron feels overshadowed by his best friend and brothers. Dumbledore would also have realized the hardship the trio would have to endure in the hunt for Horcruxes (also, possibly the effects of the Horcruxe(s) on them) and would have foreseen that their struggles would have a greater toll on Ron. Dumbledore gives Ron the Deluminator as a way back, which shows that based on his observations, he understands Ron’s bravery, loyalty towards, and love for his friends. Dumbledore is, of course, an immensely wise (but not infallible!) and perceptive wizard. He understands people much better than others as Harry himself understands when he is digging Dobby’s grave outside Shell Cottage.

Dumbledore is a very interesting character, he has tons of knowledge and secrets. That's why I like him.
