Does GR have an organized bookswap. Cupcake and I want to swap books but both are clueless as to how GR Bookswap works.

Anyone know?

I've never participated in one but I would imagine you would list the books you are willing to swap and the ones you are interested in getting and see if any of your books match up with someone elses? I am interested in the idea but I also have never done one so Im not sure if I'm missing something.

Cyndi (chill77) I swapped books with another member. She had listed on one of her reviews that she had a copy to swap/sell. I contacted her and we swapped addresses and then each mailed our books.

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I just joined paperbackswap a few hours ago and I am shipping books already. What fun and what a great way to "rearrange" your shelves.

Jo Bookmooch.com is also great. I have been doing paperbackswap for a long time. But I think I like Bookmooch better.

Sydney (sydneyh) I'm digging bookmooch so far. Joined earlier this month. I've sent out 10 books, and requested 10... still waiting on a few to be delivered.

Jasmine (jasmineworth) | 3 comments Sounds fun! I am very interested in doing a book swap, I'll have to check those websites out. :)

Laia (laiatid) | 3 comments I highly recommend PaperbackSwap and SwapaCD. They are both easy to use and they have a great system in place. If you join don't forget to add the email of the person who referred you!

Laia (laiatid) | 3 comments Sydney,
How does bookmooch do mailing cost? Is it like Paperbackswap that lets you pay for postage online so you dont have to go to the post office?

message 11: by Laia (new)

Laia (laiatid) | 3 comments Paperbackswap has the weights of all the books in their system. You print out the label and postage from PBS through the US Postal Service. It is really great, and very, very easy! You wrap the book in the pre-printed postage and put it in the mailbox.
Here is the info from PaperbackSwap:

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 354 comments ok, here is a really really stupid question. Or possibly two.....

1. Are they "even swaps"? Example, Jane wants to read a book Sally has. Sally sends Jane the book. Does Sally now have to pick one of Jane's books?

2. Do you return the books when you are done or just add them to your swapable books collection?

Dumb, huh. Probably questions coverd on the swap websites but I am being lazy.

MJ I think the 2 people can decide what to do

On paperbackswap and book mooch they are not 'even swaps'.
You list your books.
everyone else has listed their books. When you see one of their books that you like you request it. They send it. When you recieve it you log back on and acknowledge that you got it then they get a credit for it. The book is yours for good (or until you swap it).
When someone requests a book from you and you send it the do the same thing and when they mark they recieve it you get a credit towards another book.
Hmmmm that sounds complicated but I hope it made sense.

Sydney (sydneyh) Tera got the bookmooch info right. They have a point system that's explained on the site. I really like it.

anyone can print out postage on the internet using the USPS site. I ship my books media mail, so it's anywhere from $2.25 to $2.50 per book to ship depending on the region.

Bookmooch had a fairly large international clientele, so you can spell out in your profile your willingness or unwillingness to ship internationally.

I'm really pleased with Bookmooch. I've sent 11 books, and have recieved 9, with 4 more on the way.

Ashley (readerandwriter) Book Mooch is a great website. I did it for awhile but had to stop cuz it was getting a bit expensive to send the books. But I do plan on going back to it.
