RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I suggest we have a hula hoop contest. Whoever can hula hoop the longest wins. Honor system rules.

(Unless you videotape yourself hula-ing, and post it so we can see, at which point I will love you forever.)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments All I need is a hula hoop, and this contest is over, baby!

Does it count if you do it on a Wii?

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Can I sub my daughter in? She is queen of Wii hula!

message 5: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments How does Wii hula work? Do you have a real hula hoop?

Jackie's cocky. Someone out-hula her.

I dont' understand wii. It makes me feel old and out of touch.

message 7: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) Wii hula is virtual. You stand on a sensor board and make the motion while catching (with your head) hulas thrown at you. I know I look absolutely ridiculous because I see how others look playing, but it is fun!

Don't worry Sally, Leah will get you up to speed before you know it.

The phenomenon. What is so great about standing in your living room playing virtual golf, tennis, or virtually bowling? why not go to a golf course, a tennis court, or bowling alley?

Why is it so fantastic?

message 11: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) It costs less and anyone can participate regardless of athletic ability. Some nursing homes are using the Wii to promote activity among formally sedentary seniors. It is an activity that is cross generational. Great-grand parents play with their great grand kids... it is cool!

::harumph:: that sounds like a reasonable justification.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments we do not have one but purchased a wii for some close friends as a christmas present. we told them they had to share so it wasn't a Wii, but an Us

Félix (habitseven) My living room has a wall that bumps out to another dimension whenever I need more space.

Ahhh yes a holodeck. Mmmmmmm sailing sounds really nice right now. Adjust the temperature at will, provide the perfect setting, the perfect companion .....

::sigh::

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I just bought Jared Need for Speed Nitro for Wii & he's getting it tomorrow for his Bday. Can't say that we could exactly get a whole racetrack in our living room, so this will suffice.

But a holodeck would absolutely take place of the Wii, and if I save all my nickels now I may even be able to afford one when they finally make them. I think skulking through the ruins down in the Amazon would be a great Friday family night, dontcha think?

message 18: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I have a hula hoop in my living room. I bought it on a whim one day at Target. Every now and then I actually use it. Mostly it sits beside my entertainment center taunting me for my sedentary ways. Hula is great exercise - it works a lot of core muscles and apparently 30 minutes of hulaing burns some crazy number of calories.

Just saying.

I'd still rather just have a sun porch.
