Jennifer | 45 comments "Reading's good for the brain"????I'd have to agree, except for the fact that when I read Twilight I actually felt my brain slowly dying away. It is like mental marijuana. and it obviously had an effect on you, too, Inka, since you spelled "offense" wrong.

GO ROSE!!! GO JENNY!!!

Hahahaha!! So Inka... I think that when you said that reading's good for the brain, reading twilight counts as you say, I wouldn't think it's a good idea to mispell a simple word as offense. ^_^ lol!

*in your face moment* >.<

message 1403: by Cyn (new)

Cyn | 10 comments It's people like Inka who make me hate Twilight even more.

ha! She said that we're gonna get sued for doing this! >.<

I don't think so! Trust me... we won't. You have my word.

Why? I study Law so she can't exactly bluff her way on this one.

message 1405: by Giggles (new)

Giggles law???? thats awosome

message 1406: by Cyn (new)

Cyn | 10 comments I'm studying law as well but a person doesn't need to be studying law to know that there is a little thing called freedom of speech. We can talk smack about twilight all we want and do so under the protection of the LAW. Little rant over ^_^.

message 1407: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments I'm not studying Law, but I am studying Literature, and if you ask me, Stephenie Meyer should be sued for inflicting the literary equivalent of cocaine on the youth of today. That's it! SMeyer is a drug lord! (In a metaphorical sense, that is.)

WOOT!!! OH YEAH CYN!! Now she won't be able to rat away about her own law crap when the two of us are around! >.<

Thank God Jenny is here too! Now we have a somewhat pro view of Literature!

message 1411: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Sparkles! hahahaha!!! Twilight is like the antithesis of all that is good and healthy in this world!

message 1412: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Hey, something happened that I felt I should share with you guys. I heard a halfway decent argument from a twitard. She said of course I wouldn't enjoy Twilight because it wasn't aimed at my demographic. (Actually I believe the exact wording was "you're too old.") This is in fact, true. I am a Literature major in my early 20s so why would I bother with a kiddie book? However, while thinking up a response, I found this argument to have no solid ground. Indeed, I appreciate the classics, such as Dickens, Twain, the Brontes, etc as well as contemporary writers such as Vonnegut, Doctorow and Paolo Coehlo (is Vonnegut still contemporary if he's dead?). But the truth is I still do revel in young adult fiction that I read in my teens, such as Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Chronicles of Narnia, the Pendragon Series by DJ MacHale, the Inktrilogy by Cornelia Funke, and others along those lines.

The thing is, even though these books are aimed at a younger audience they still maintain a level of talent, style and intelligence that allows them to appeal to seasoned readers such as myself. Pretty much the same reason I still enjoy old Disney movies. They speak to my inner child's senses while keeping my more adult brain engaged. Twilight does neither of these things and, no matter what age I am, it doesn't stop the book from sucking.

message 1413: by Cyn (new)

Cyn | 10 comments Doesn't twilight's fanbase have a large section of tween mothers? Aren't they a bit old?

message 1414: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Exactly! If you ask me the twimoms are worse than their daughters. I mean, is your love life really so unsatisfactory that you have to get your jollies from something written by a Mormon??? (nothing against Mormons, I know a few. Very nice people. They're just not known for their sense of fun.)

YOU SOUND REALLY NERDY :L

message 1417: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments I know. My polysyllabic vocabulary and vast reading experience often motivates more callow individuals to stereotype me in such a way. Alas, 'tis the curse of the intellectual.

Or was it my "Trust me, I'm a Jedi" avatar that gave you that idea?

Hehe... hehe... uh............................... I'm a mormon, and I'm a very crazy, silly person. In fact, all the people in my ward are very nice, funny people. Don't be mean to Stephanie Meyer because of her religion; it has NOTHING to do with that. The only thing her religion influenced was that she didn't explain the... bad scenes. You can make fun of her as an individual, but don't make a generalizing statement like that.

Yeah. I have to agree with Lindsay there.

message 1420: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Yeah, and other than that comment degrading towards us mormons, I agree with all your statements and think that Star Wars is awesome!!

message 1421: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments I'm sorry. I am guilty of generalization there. I rescind the statement. A low blow on my part.

*whacks head* it's my job as a mod to avoid these things.

Sorry Lindsay.

Lindsay It's okay, people have said much, much worse things about us, like we're devils and have horns on our heads hidden by hair. O_o

message 1424: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments I didn't mean to bash anybody's religion. :(. what I was trying to say that the books are really sexually reserved and its sad that these twimoms find them more exciting than their own lives. Sorry if it came off as insulting. Didn't mean to. I hope we can stil be friends in the Force!

Oh! OKay! I'll go check on it then! How are you Grace?

message 1427: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Yeah, I've met quite a few Mormons, like I've said, and so far they are all horn-free.

message 1428: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Phew, that's good! Yeah, me and my church buddies are horn-free, as far as I'm concerned... ;D Oh, and yes, we can be friends in the force!

Anyway... my family and I just watched the Twilight movie, and the action was so stupid and cheesy. Way corny, and Edward's voice was annoying.

message 1429: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments I actually talked my friend into go seeing it in the theater with me and we laughed likea pair of hyenas all the way through it. All the twitards kept yelling at us, which only made us laugh harder. I particularly enjoyed the part where Bella said, "Let's pretend I'm not smart." I whispered (quite loudly), "No need to pretend." I was almost chased down by a prepubescent lynch mob, but the laughs I got were totally worth it. Then when I got home I had to watch The Lost Boys just to regain some edge.

HAHAHAHA!!! I haven't watched it but I KNOW I would have said the same thing when Bella said that!

Izzahfalco$ | 5 comments RP american accent was really fake and he sounded a bit spanish at times

message 1432: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Inka: ah ha! the nerds here outnumber you greatly! Leave while you have a chance.

And yeah, RP's accent sucked, almost as much as Kristin Stewart's acting.

message 1433: by Giggles (new)

Giggles watched what??

message 1434: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Neha wrote: "watched what??"

That cinematic fail known as the Twilight movie, which featured bad acting, poor scripting and a cameo by the author, proving to us once again the the whole thing is Stephenie Meyer's self-insert wet dream.

Though, to be fair to the director, there is only so much you can do with such lackluster source material.

message 1435: by Giggles (new)

Giggles i watched that movie hated it to death worst two hours of my life

message 1436: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments I watched it solely for the lulz. No other reason. The girl who played Bella was almost painful to watch. I mean, I know Bella has no personality, but could you try a facial expression that doesn't say "Me lurvs me some craaaaaack. . ." once in a while? And Eddie looked like he was constipated (or sexually frustrated) the whole time. How could you not laugh at this crap? Even the sparkles weren't all that. . .sparkly. It made him look like he had a glandular condition.

P.S. sorry if anyone finds my posts long-winded. I just get carried away sometimes.

message 1437: by Giggles (new)

Giggles i also noticed something bella didnt smile...not even once her face was always so scared and sad i thought she liked edward shouldnt she be happy about that???

message 1438: by Cyn (new)

message 1447: by Giggles (new)

Giggles yep hehehe

message 1448: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Wow, you guys are great ! *hugs back* and if anybody is interested in watching the Twilight movie for laughs or to make fun of Eddie's hair, you can do so for free. Someone uploaded the full movie on youtube. Its in a series of twelve 10 minute sections. Now, normally, I do not condone this kind of thing which I'm sure is not legal, but I make an exception here for two reasons. a)Stephenie Meyer gets enough royalties from the twitards. She doesn't our money, and b)maybe SMeyer will discover the video, throw a hissy fit and cancel the rest of the movies, like what she did with Midnight Sun. Doubtful that she will because the studio owns the rights but hey! A girl can dream.

Peace out haters!

message 1449: by Madysen (new)

Madysen (vaiyala) | 142 comments You know, I just remembered something I heard one time when you mentioned Midnight Sun... You know how it was "leaked" out onto the internet (hence SM's hissy fit)? Well, does anyone else think that Meyers might have done it herself to get attention?

message 1450: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 45 comments Yeah, I've thought about that many times myself. She is an attention whore. And we all know it will be published anyway. This is just her way of building up the hype. Argh its so annoying! Now, I'm not a violent person, but sometimes I just want to wrap her face up in duct tape and pull it off really fast.
