I’m really excited to have joined this group. I’m looking forward to reading and sharing with all of its members. I’m a avid book reader but I’m sorry to say that I have not read any of the books stated, seems a though I have some catching up to do ;)
Notorious, look forward to hearing what you think of Wench. I thought it was excellent although the subject matter was extremely disturbing.
Riviera, hi! What sorts of books do you enjoy reading?

I can not wait to read your book, Precious. I am reading multiples now, ReShonda Tate Billingsly, Adrienna Turner to name a few. :)Happy readings!
I’m kind of into a little bit of everything or anything that stimulates my mind. I can’t really pick a favorite just yet because I’m exploring all types of literature right now, but I’m kind of leaning towards novels.
I read a lot of urban fantasy. I have a pretty heavy schedule so I tend to read young adult books for fun. It's less taxing on my brain! I think though, one of my favorite books I've read so far this year was The Lost German Slave Girl. It was nonfiction, but alternated between chapters of straight historical fact and fiction based on facts with some authorial liberty. It was nice to both learn something and read a story.
Hey Michelle and Riviera! @Michelle, I've not read much YA literature but I'd like to explore. Two of my friends - both of them brilliant authors - are launching YA novels soon. One is Jennifer Solow who is coming out with Aristobrats shortly. The other is KJ Miller who has a book on the way. I'll definitely be reading their books!

Someone Knows My Name (other topics)
The Book of Night Women (other topics)

My next book is set during slavery times and for research I've been reading novels set during that era. Standouts have been 'Someone Knows My Name' by Lawrence Hill, 'The Book of Night Women' by Marlon James and 'Wench' by Dolen Perkins-Valdez.
