Hi, I'm Vera. I'm a retired government worker from Alabama. I didn't go to U of A though, but a small college called Montevallo. I love reading and will read just about anything, but especially mysteries and fantasy. I also read some nonfiction, especially history,which was one of my majors in college.

I have 2 daughters, and a bunch of dogs and cats. I crochet a lot as I'm in several groups that make items for hospitals, homeless centers, ect. I can't wait to get started on my million pages!

I like Jewelry. I think it would be a good skill to have. You could whip up your own necklace for every shirt!

The only jewelry I wear is earrings, but even those don't get much use. Okay so sometimes I wear rings or bracelets. I only have one necklace that I have a chewing addiction for. :)

I agree with you all. My job doesn't allow any jewelry so it is pointless to buy any unless for special occasions. I also don't have the patience to kit or crochet or cross-stitch...pretty much anything crafty.

I think one of the good things about a general book group, not a specialty one like mysteries or romance, is that you find a lot of books outside of your normal reading. I know I've added a bunch of books I've never even heard of and yet I enjoyed reading them a lot.

Isn't it a great challenge?! You don't have to feel pressured or feel like you're failing like a ____ of books a year challenge. You also don't feel like you're being "punished" for choosing a long book because each page counts.

Welcome everyone to the group! Sorry, I've been away for so long. Life happens every so often. Perks, or not so great perks, of being a single mom of three boys.

I really like this challenge because like you said, we don't have to feel like we are failing at anything. I know I'm super excited everytime I hit a sma goal. Like a 1000 pages. :) the celbration calls for more books!!!
