Introductions - Thanks for Joining!!

I live in Northridge,CA (2o NW of Hollywood "Tinseltown" and have been married to my husband, Mark for 32 + years. We have 2 children that are 25 & 29. Something special between Mark and I is that we're both native Californians plus we knew each other before we were born. Long story and if interested, message me.
My love of reading started at a young age and now to go back and try to remember all the books I've read since I was able to read on my own.

I'm so glad you decided to join Lori! I really think you will love this group!

Melissa, again thanx for directing me here.

Welcome to this crazy bunch of bookworms. Looking forward to see what challenges you partake in and/or groups.
TTYS and btw what part of the world are you from?

It's an Olympics I won't soon forget because of the Israeli athletes who were murdered and the special key chain I've got.
In looking over your books can you explain how I can find out the English translation.

Would love to be friends with both of you also.

Any and all friends are always welcome!!

I'm relatively new here. I am doing my own challenge as well the covers challenge.
I am finding that I enjoy more genres than I first thought! Since retiring from the Social Security Admin., I now have the time to read! 25 years of getting up at 4:30 to be at work by 6 am are gone!
I want to read or read books that are on my "bucket list." I am striving to read 132 books and about 30,000 pages this year.

Good for you Anne. This group has motivated me also to read more than normal.

Welcome to you and Zuany to the group.
We are a small group but we are all book love! You'll befriend all of our frequent updaters here! It has become a bookish home away from home.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Mad Sci. When here I feel as if I'm in my own private "family" library. It's just great.
What will the "Bucketlist" Challenge entail?

Mad Scientist, I already love the group and its people.
I'm working on my "bucket list" May I post it in the A-D folder, when I'm done or I can create a list on listopia. Or I will put it in the Members Challenge Folder. I think I'll reveal my "bucket reads" as I post them ;-$

Hi there Mad Scientist!
My "bucket list" consists of Classics as The Old Man and the Sea, Ben-Hur, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Old Yeller, etc.
And include Peyton Place, Memoirs of a Geisha,The Thorn Birds, The Godfather to name a few.
And some authors like Stephen King, the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen that I need to read and re-read.
My list has grown to over 250...I'm not sure how I am going to set it up yet. I welcome a suggestion.
Oh, there are books that were made into films that I haven't read yet, like The Sterile Cuckoo, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and From Here to Eternity.
I think I am reverting back to my youth and early 30s...oh my! Maybe it's because I'll be 55 next month :(

What a great idea, Ann. Maybe I'll start something like this as well.

I told myself that I wanted to read one million pages by the time I'm 50. I'm 23 so I can see it being possible I just think I need the motivation to do it. I always give myself reading goals each year and then usually fall horribly short of them. Last year was to read all of Stephen King's books in order. Which I did for a while and then I stopped reading in order...and then I completely gave up. This year I'm being a bit more flexible (because I'm also a book buyer addict and need to read some of the books I've bought but never fit into my goals), I've given myself a goal of 52 books with half being from a series (any series I want) and the rest are whatever I pick up.
I think I'd read a lot more books if it weren't for my love of comic books. I buy and read about 30-35 new comic books a week (and this isn't even including all the back issues I pick up) I have separate goals for them and admit to being a little more strict with reaching them mostly because if I don't then I have hundreds stacked up within a month.

Welcome! Feel free to jump into one of the challenges that will help u out ;) I fail miserably too but I know what I'm trying to strive for & it helps.

I'm new to Goodreads, and thus new to groups on here as well. Luckily my new goodreads friend Lori introduced me to this group, so here I am.
I'm a 32 year old from southeastern Virginia, U.S.A. I am a program manager who does not find enough time to read - this 1M page goal will definitely help me make it more of a priority (I'm a bit competitive that way.) I like a broad range of books, though I don't read as much poetry or non-fiction as I should. (We all have our weaknesses, right?)
Besides reading, I love animals, watching football (American football that is...), playing the piano, and spending time with my family.
I'm looking forward to starting this challenge - I only wish I could count past books as well...

Poetry and nonfiction are my weaknesses as well :). My brother loves to play the piano/keyboard as well. Who do you like to watch when it comes to football?
You can count past books! Did you read somewhere in the group that you can't? Because I was supposed to change all of that when I changed the rules last year.

I think it's fine to add books read in the past. That's what I did!

(I was one of those kids in elementary school who failed the test with 20 directions that had 1st direction "Read all directions first" and 20th direction "Don't do anyhthing else, just write your name and turn in"...)

We have been tossing so many things around to get more people active and very much into their reading to help reach this goal quickly! (then we can aim for 2 million. LOL!)
