1. What is in your CD player right now?
2. Last movie you went to see?
3. TV show you just can't miss?
4. Last book that made you cry?
5. White linen suit with blue silk blouse and white strappy kitten heels or black dress with sequin pattern and high heeled Miu Miu's for an awards ceremony?
6. In broad strokes, paint your dream vacation location, e.g. skiing in the Alps, photo safari in Africa, or perhaps recreating Huck Finn's river trip (it takes all types you know).
7. Do you read reviews? If so, do you take them personally?
That's it for me. Thank you for your answers to these and earlier questions and for your time with us.

Hi Debra,
I'm always looking for ideas and ways to turn things I experience or read about into books. For example, a few years ago, when my family was on vacation in Maui, my husband and son went snorkeling, and I briefly lost sight of them. That's how I got the idea for HERE TODAY, GONE TO MAUI, which is about a woman who goes to Maui with her boyfriend -- only to have him disappear while scuba diving.

Have you ever written an evil character, well, may..."
Gentle with Gustav & Charles! Gentle!!!
Nope -- I've never put anyone from real life in a book. Ever. Okay, the parents in GETTING WARMER bear a striking resemblance to mine, but that's about it. I try not to paint my characters as good and bad -- and if I truly dislike someone, it would be hard to cut them slack in print. Plus, if I don't like someone, I'd rather not think about them at all!

Oh, good -- I like your questions!
1. I don't have a CD player anymore. The last full-length CD I bought from iTunes was the Dirty Heads.
2. I'm drawing a blank ... but at 2 a.m. I will be at the movie theater to pick up my fourteen-year-old from the midnight showing of "Toy Story 3." (Note: she didn't even like TS 1&2 back when they were age-appropriate.)
3. Project Runway
4. Beautiful Boy
5. Black sequin. What are Miu Mius?
6. Right now I'm deeply in love with Catalina Island. If dreams could come true, I'd spend a month in a water-view house with nothing to do but write, take photographs, go on long walks, drink wine, and cook fresh fish.
7. I read reviews but only take them semi-personally.
Glad you've enjoyed my answers. I've enjoyed writing them!

Thanks! Hope you like it. (And if you don't? Do me a favor and DON'T write a review!)

As for the review, I write a few words about every book I read. Most of them are kind words. A few are not. But I'll go in with a good attitude.
Wine drinker are you? Red or white? Had a great zinfindel when I was in LA recently, Bricker something. Sorry, I don't have more than that.

Wow, those shoes are ... wow.
I am an equal opportunity wine drinker. I (rather predictably, I admit) like chardonnay and pinot noir.

Congratulations on your sale! That's very exciting. There were plenty of things I didn't know about writing ... but I fear I still don't know them! For promotions, I recommend that you start early: get a website, Facebook & GoodReads pages, etc., now. Network with other writers in your genre. (It's often easiest if you share a publisher.) Your publisher will assign you a publicist, but you're going to have to do most of the work. Right now you might start compiling a list of promising bloggers to contact a few months before release to ask if they'd be interested in reviewing your book. (You can probably forward those names on to your publicist, but check first.) Good luck (and have fun)!

Well, fifteen individuals asked questions. I have now numbered you from 1-15 (in order of online appearance). I am about to put those numbers into the online generator ... so stay tuned!

Have you ever written an evil character, well, maybe not exactly evil, but an unlikeable character based on someone you crossed paths with in your life? Like maybe a bully in school, mean co-worker, etc.?
