Sounds like The De Santis Marriage by Michelle Reid:

Italian tycoon Luciano De Santis is breathtaking in every way: he has power, success, and a devastating effect on women. Now Luc needs a bride and he's decided that ordinary Lizzy Hadley will be his wife! He's set his trap and blackmailed her, and he knows she can't refuse him. But there's one condition Luc fails to mention;as his wife, Lizzy must produce an heir!

I think The De Santis Marriage by Michelle Reid is one of my most favorite books. I love the passion and love between Luc and Lizzy. I've probably read this book about a million times!

Also sounds a bit like Mistress Against Her Will, she takes a note from her step-sister to the hero and is seduced by him.
All this talk of De Santis Marriage... will have to re-read it.

Se Mcgregor | 550 comments These are both re-posts - still no luck in finding either of them.

1st one is late 80's or maybe early 90's. Hero was in military and was prisoner for several years, thought dead. He is found and returned to the UK. His wife is there to meet him, I think she faints on the tarmac. I recall he had to spend some time in hospital, perhaps was beaten by his captors? I have a vague recollection of a link to an Arab sheikh/prince - someone the hero had saved before being captured or maybe they were prisoners together. I think near the end of the book they attend a ball as the sheikh/prince's guests. Similar beginning to Damiano's Return by Lynne Graham but it's not that book.

2nd one is 90's book. Could be Silhouette, not sure. Think it was a "super-romance" - bigger than a standard m&b. H meets H at her ranch. He has investments in the area I think - maybe he owns the ranch she works on? I think she is either a farmer or horse breeder(?) they fall in love, get married then go to live in the city. Not sure, he might be a lawyer. She hates the city, but tries to fit in, I recall her having a t-shirt tan and couldn't find suitable gown to wear to gala evening.

Trying to appear more sophisticated like his friends, heroine gets all her long hair chopped off. On the way home, she gets mugged, drenched and has to walk a long way. The H has to let her go, knowing that the city life is killing her. This leads to her heading back to the farm. They reconcile when H moves his business to nearest city (no idea where) so that he can commute when necessary and they can live HEA on the farm.

Bnic | 21 comments Another fact I vaguely recall. I think the heroine has a baby not at the end of the book but three quarters through.

I am searching for a book I read several years ago. The hero or heroine are forced to marry. I believe the hero is in love with someone else when they marry. He is disdainful of her and has a nickname for her, something like mouse, wren, or sparrow. It could be a harlequin presents (believe it is). It was published before 1999,I believe anywhere between 1978 and 2000. The heroine may have gotten pregnant or had a baby in the book. Thanks.

Julz | 16 comments Hi. I have my own mystery. I've copied a post in another section. I will add that I might remember the title incorrectly so keep options open (though I doubt it. I remembered the title because it had my name in it). Also, the ending gutted me. They were never reunited as a couple but he had her picture around his neck on a black greasy ribbon (blackened with age). I hope someone recognizes this.

"Help! I'm looking for a book called Miss Julie (it's not the play by August Strindberg because she lives to be an old woman). I read my book as a tween and bawled for days afterwards so I can say it was angsty. I have no idea when it was written. The story take us through the characters' entire life and different relationships. The male love interest was married to someone else. I remember also that the heroine had made a hat out of a pumpkin (I know it sounds weird. She was fooling around). She reminised about her silly behavior in youth when she got older. Do you know where else can I post to see if anyone remembers this story? Thx!!

Susan (suziq70) | 3 comments So excited to join this group! I started reading Harlequin novels in Jr. high school, but stopped when I started college. I have retired and started reading them again. I’ve been trying to track down some of the most memorable ones.

Looking for a book: Older Harlequin Presents
Heroine: Named Katy Brown/White
Hero: I don’t remember his name, but he was a captain. He was older than the heroine.
The couple was married, but estranged. The setting is in England and they re-meet on a cruise. The heroine is the chef.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

When you say cruise ship, do you mean ocean liner (with 1,000 plus other passengers) or billionaires ocean cruiser, small exclusive staff, luxury cabins etc.
Anne Weale books often have an "at sea" theme. This one might be older than what you are looking for. The First Officer

Vintage (vintagesedona) | 312 comments Hi there. Again.

I'm looking for a Harlequin Presents where the H (probably Italian/Greek/Sicilian) either has a child or a ward. He assumes the h is an evil gold-digging/scheming/slut which she is not, of course. I can't remember if the child is hers or what.

The h and the child are kidnapped and taken up into the mountains. I think they track her because of the cell phone. At one point the kidnappers threaten to kill the child and actually smack the h around. Once rescued, when the hero finds out about the abuse he puts the heroine in the car and goes back to punch the bad guys.

Not a lot to go on, but I loved the fact he punched the bad guys out.
