Pam wrote: "Sounds good now I want to read it!"There are two books in the series. I actually like the second one better. The Husband She Never Knew.
Several months ago I read a fairly recent romance series. The first book starts out with a biracial beautiful girl looking for a sugar daddy so she can take care of her sick mother. The hero sees her out with a disgusting man and offers her a deal. Her best friend is black, and her best boy friend is in love with her. At the end of the first book, she is pregnant and runs away to have her baby. The next few books deal with her new lover's connection to his family and how they run the world behind the scenes. Lots of conspiracy theory, betrayal and general creepiness as the series progresses.
Sound familiar???
My favorite theme for now is something like Lynne Graham's Tempestuous Reunion, childhood friends turned lovers who are separated. I have read a few of Michele Reid which were good. But Lynne Graham wrote so well, full of angst. Any recommendations in this theme???

I am looking for a story. It is definetely a Harlequin. Pretty sure its from the Presents line and I think it was published in the last 10 years or so. The problem is, that I remember very little, and what I remember could fit almost any 'fake marriage' story....couple are married and have been for a while. Arranged marriage and they have almost nothing to do with one another. They are meeting at the top of the stairs - coming from their separate bedrooms (maybe even wings of the house) to go to a party and he says "tonight" to her, when they walk down the stairs.
They are together to produce an heir. I am pretty sure she is blonde / blue eyed. Described as an ice princess. He might be some kind of minor nobleman earl or such. I have no idea of his nationality.
I am pretty sure that scene where he says: tonight, is what breaks her. They go to the party, but maybe she leaves alone? Or she freaks out on his mistress? Or? Something happens...
Does anyone know which this is? I have 285 harlequin books in my eharlequin library and This could fit any of the arranged marriage ones *sighs*
@ Anna - your HQ that has the H and h at the top of the stairs and where the "H" says , "Tonight" could be called
"wife in the shadows" by Sara Craven - hope you find it..

I do have Wife in the shadows in my Harlequin library, so maybe that is the one. I'll give it a try! Thanks!
Oh, that one sounds super familiar, and I read Wife in the Shadows back in March, so it might be. Now I want to check!
willaful wrote: "Oh, that one sounds super familiar, and I read Wife in the Shadows back in March, so it might be. Now I want to check!"It was Wife in the Shadows. Sara Craven by Sara Craven. The scene on the stairs, which I remembered, is the opening scene.
Reading it right now. From a moral standpoint I absolutely hate this story, but I am enjoying it anyway LOL
Me again. Whilst reading the one you guys helped me find, I recalled another story I want to re-read.She is a bit older than hq heroines normally are, I think around 30. She runs a vineyard - maybe in Spain? - and is a big girl. Tall and curvy. People around her refer to her as masculine. She lives with her father. Her mother is either dead or left them.
He lives near her vineyard in a castle, I seem to recall, he also makes wine. there is some kind of scandal in the family past. Maybe the mother tried to stop him from inhereting after his father? Or the brother? There is definetely a lot of animosity in the family.
He wants an heir and decides she is a good brood mare and would be a nice companion, because she is knowledgeable about wine and doesn't care about her appearence.
I distinctly remember him thinking that she has good teeth!
Anyone know what this one is?

I love that book - have read it a few times actually. He is a duke and he tells her - crying - he is "desperate for her" when she has run away near the end. Book is Kate Hewitt The Brides Awakening. Wish someone would help find the one I posted!
REPOST - Have searched high and low for this book. I think it is a Harlequin presents and probably around mid-2000's. H takes secretary / PA to Greece or Greek Island to pose as his fiance. His father is dying or ill and they end up having to go ahead with a wedding - I think father wants son married before inheriting family empire. She hates lying to everyone and I think she jumps on a plane to head back to UK. Appreciate any ideas on what it could be.
a Harlequin romance i think its vintage featuring a hot but nutty professor of programming tricks his secretary who is afraid of sexual men into marrying him by pretending he has a low sex drive he does this by wearing odd clothes and glasses even though he can see quite well.the professor is in charge of two orphaned children of his brother and uses them to convince his secretary to marry him so that they can have a stable home because he travels much for his work. he also promises her not to demand sex and tells her that this will keep her matchmaking mother off her back. she agrees but he start walking in the house without his shirt and she begins to feel sexually attracted to him. please help
This book sounds familiar. Sounds like a Silhouette Desire. I am going to look maybe the ot is similiar to one i have read.
i think its a harlequin romance featuring an arranged marriage between the H and h on the demand of the h grandfather. The heroine suffers from hydrophobia and we later learn that she suffered a boat accident (i think), in which she lost her parents. We then find out that her mother is still alive.in another book that i am looking for, the heroine and hero are married. the heroine has a sister who, we later learn is actually her daughter. please help.

I remember the story but still don't remember the title. I'll look again. I hope someone remembers it too. It is bugging me now.
I have 10 years been looking for a old harlequin book. I cannot remember the series but the cover looked like Harlequin Basic/romance/presents. The book is from late 70's or 80's . The storyline was that a woman comes to finalize her marriage after 5 years of separation. I am not sure, but I think the setting was Australia. Then he asks her to waite, because he is having a pool party/barbique to his friends.I liked the book, the relation that they had during they time getting back to each other.

I'm posting this here as an FYI to everyone. If you're using this thread, you're doing it right!
The rules about posting book inquiries are very clear, however they continue to be violated. If you want to post an inquiry, use the thread created for this purpose. Do not create a separate thread for each inquiry.
Help Finding Books Thread
The members on this group are very helpful at quickly replying to inquiries posted on this thread. There is no need for a separate one.
I am asking all the group members not to reply to these individual threads. If members are replying, it condones a violation of the rules and allows these members to essentially loophole out of the functioning system we have created for book inquiries. My intention is not single out anyone or hurt feelings, but to facilitate the functioning of this group. It's a labor of love for me, but I'm a busy person, and having to close extraneous threads because members are not following the rules takes time away from important tasks I need to be doing to keep this group running well, as well as chatting about Harlequin Presents novels!
You are welcome to ignore the separate thread requests and I will close and archive them. This doesn't make you a mean person. The person can always post the inquiry on the correct thread.
It may seem persnickety on my part, but there is an important purpose to using the one inquiry thread (it is set up to accommodate and facilitate members finding books and people seem to find it helpful). The rules are very clear, and there is a sticky at the top of the Help Finding Books Folder that members have been asked to read before posting inquiries.
Please Read Before Posting Book Search Inquiry
Thanks to everyone who is using the correct thread, and helping other members find their lost books. This group would not be the wonderful group it is without all your participation.
Thank you for your assistance.

Found it! its Father Most Wanted
Okay. I've never been on this end of the book hunt before, but this book I read within the last two years keeps bugging my memory. Here's what I think I remember:It's def a Presents, most likely within the last couple of years. The hero and heroine might be step0siblings (I don't remember if the parents are actually married). I think he (I might be mixing up books here or maybe just mixing up what happened) meets her again but doesn't recognize her. They sleep together and are discovered the next morning by the parents. He thinks she didn't tell him on purpose because they wanted to trap him into marrying her.
He doesn't! In fact, he refuses to see her again. I don't remember how she comes back into his life some time later, but as the book progresses we learned she'd cut her mother off, I think, and had been pregnant. She tried to contact him multiple times at his work, but he refused to talk to her so she couldn't tell him she was preggo. I remember she was really young and naive too. She lost the baby though, but she never got over it, really.
I don't remember much more or if it was even any good, but it's been bugging me. Thanks for listening to my late-night ramblings, and I hope you great group of HP readers can help.

Maybe His Wedding Ring of Revenge by Julia James?
Your book sounds like something that I would have read and now it is bugging me! Do you remember where the book takes place, nationality of hero?
From the reviews, it sure sounds like HWRofR: "He had a one-night stand with her years ago but thought her mom set them up. Foul insults. If guy humiliates me by saying that I was "gagging for it," I'd sever ties forever. Yet this spineless girl calls him up later to ask for help with pregnancy and the guy rejects all her calls. She miscarries."
Sorry I've been away so long guys. It is, indeed, HWRoR. I found it last night in fact, but we had a little rain this morning that caused a big power outage. I swear, it can hail and the lights will stay on, but if we get just a tiny little drizzle it's lights out.You guys are awesome though. Thanks for the help. I just had the most compelling urge to re-read it (that must be it, since I've started to).
hey can anyone help me find this book? its pretty old. somewhere in the 90s. the h is a nurse and H is a doc. they had a relationship in the past den broke up which later comes out was bcoz h could not become a mother and did not want to tell this to the H and so just let him go. now they meet again after 3 yrs, H has a son from another rship. there is also one scene where a lady who has lost her child tries to steal another from the neonatal ward and h finds her and tries to reason wid her saying how she cannot have a child n still is happy. This is how H comes to know y h left him as he was listening with the police. and I guess at the end the H convinces h that he wud be happy with the son that he already has and so they get married.

ya I think so. but am not sure. I think it had a dark orange background and a pic of the H sitting with his son on his lap and d h standing behind him on the cover.
I've been looking for this book for quite sometime.Hero's name is Sherard and he is h's brother's friend. He comes to stay at the h's house during summer vacations but she doesn't like his shabby appearance. She then marries someone else.H again meets the h at her husband's funeral and asks her to marry him.Its somewhere from the80's or 90's I think.

Cathy, the second one with a paperweight - I think it is the book where the H married the h, her sister jilted him or something like that. He's blind -- she gifts him a paperweight. Sorry - don't remember the title.
