I've been looking for years....I should've just joined this group! LOL. I was on a hero in a wheelchair reading streak and remembered parts of the story but couldn't find it.

Hello this trope is quite common in HP. Protect her from what, is she in any danger? Any other significant detail about any of the characters? Maybe the location?

The Heroine meets the Hero at her foster sister's wedding. She's the bridesmaid and he's the groom's brother. They like each other but he doesn't want to marry and also does not want kids. They start living together. The heroine gets pregnant and delays informing the hero because she's afraid of how he'll react. When she finally tells him he does react badly and she leaves him. Later he reaches out and makes several heartfelt attempts to reconcile, but she rebuffs them all. Her sister talks some sense into her when she points out that she's now being cruel because she's punishing the hero for not having exactly the reaction she wanted him to have, not taking into account that he had some serious reasons for his instinctive reaction, and that all his actions thereafter prove that he really loves her and is not the horrible person she has painted him to be.

I read as a Mills and Boon publication, but this would have also been a Harlequin. The heroine stomps off into the desert as they tend to, the hero rescues her but not in time to escape the sandstorm so there is some romantic robe-based huddling to get thro.
Hero could be Rachid/Rascheed/Rasheed or similar but that could also be a misremember/overlay of a similar book with no sandstorm huddling!
Story was definitely pre-1987 and could have been anything from 70s onwards.
All thoughts appreciated, I’ve read thro a lot of shaky sheikhy stories from the era but not found anything yet :)

Towards the end, hero finally face his trauma and decided to have a search party in his estate for the final time
iinm on last day of the search they finally found his wife's body
she fell somewhere in the woods of his estate?
And it's modern genre not historical
Thank you in advance

Music For My Soul/ Song of the Heart by Lauren Linwood.
Music for My Soul

Rescued by The Sheikh - Barbara McMahon?

In Bed with The Devil - Susan Mallery?

@IncurableRomantic
Not an exact match but Iris Johansen's Touch the Horizon has a scene like that.

Possibly Falcon's Prey by Penny Jordan

Thanks @Reeder (reviews), it wasn’t that one but it was a nice re-read and the hero’s name makes it very possibly part of a muddled memory.
The scene I half remember (the one that is bugging me) was the heroine sheltered from a sandstorm by the hero who snuggles her up in his trad Arabic robes. The robes were named (in full Harlequjn travelogue style) and I recall going to the dictionary to find out what the words meant - very pre-internet! It must have been published before 1987 as the book belonged to my gran who died that year, I read it as a Mills and Boon print I think.
The search continues :) thank you again x

This would have been a Mills and Boon print, pre-1987.
I’m sure it is set in England, The scene I remember is one where the heroine is in peril and is rescued by the hero. It may not have had a harlequin print, don’t know.
I think it is an 80s setting when everyone was impressed with property development and architect heroes were a thing. I think there was another man with a sports car (tho that is so generic I may have made it up).
- She is upstairs in a house the hero is renovating/building (he may be an architect, she may be looking for him to apologise for a misunderstanding and to declare love).
- The floorboards are not secured and as she walks on them they fall away, leaving her either lying across joists or precariously balanced.
- the hero appears and gets her to spread her weight across the joists/beams and he rescues her (can’t remember if she drops into his arms or what!).
I think I remember looking up the word “joists” in the dictionary and definitely spent time trying to work out the logistics of the peril!
Memories are strange things. Any help will be appreciated but it isn’t much to go on xxx

Are they in a rural or country area? Is there a flood? I remember one book which could be similar to what you are looking for. I think there was a broken or old mill wheel? That is all i remember

I think I’ve read one like that too! It isn’t the same one but thank you. It is definitely inside a house, probably the first floor - could have been a gallery/landing, Don’t remember it being deeply rural, i suspect it was one of those dream houses heroes end up living in. I just remember the peril/lying down to manage weight distribution. Memory is a strange thing :)

Thank you for your help.

Maybe the Iron Fey series https://www.goodreads.com/series/4732...
Not really the best place to ask, this area is for Harlequin Presents books.

Yeah, sorry. I'm confused. Thank you, though.

could it be sandstorm by Anne Mather

The hero and heroine are married but separated after the death of their child. The heroine has left the hero and gone off alone living on a boat. The book starts with her visiting their house on her annual trip to the child's grave, except the hero makes her stay for a few days. The book ends with an epilogue where they both pose with their younger children and their family around the tree they planted over the deceased child.
That's all I remember.

The Markonos Bride

No that's not it. In the one I'm looking for, the hero's parents want them to get back together again. I remembered 2 more things,
1. The hero also keeps reducing the heroine's divorce settlement amount in an attempt to delay the divorce and to prompt her to contact him but she doesn't care and just keeps accepting whatever he quotes in the hopes of expediting the divorce.
2. Because the hero has no way of contacting her directly, he becomes an anonymous commenter on a travel blog she maintains, as a way of staying connected with her.

I read that book in the last month. Will see if I can find it.

thanks yes these are the books

i only remember the ending, hero bought a place and turns it into an art gallery (without the heroine knowing)
he gave it to heroine's grandmother
and even named the gallery with heroine's grandmother's name

Hoping that someone would be able to help with this
What I remember about the book
* Either the Hero or Heroine or both of them are lawyers
* They are married or living together and now estranged and separated
* They are probably opposing lawyers in a case.
* They share an elevator and the lift has a break down.
* They have a purple passion moment in the elevator…Yes they do it in the elevator !!!!
* Predictably, the Heroine gets pregnant
*There’s some talk of how people will gossip and do the maths….
*Their reconciliation is what the story is all about
* The story is probably set in Australia or in UK
* It’s not a Helen Bianchin book

The heroine works for the hero's mother. The hero tries his best to charm her but she turns him down. He's very surprised because this has never happened before, and thinks she's playing hard to get, but she's not. She's genuinely not interested. We find out much later that it's because she's been in love with someone else the whole time, but they can't be together.

I am drawing a blank on the name of a book I read and am looking for again. I believe the hero's name is Rafe (I think), I don't remember the heroine's name. He is her guardian (I think). She lives with him and his sister, the sister is mean, and then the heroine sleeps with him after her 18th birthday party and afterwards moves to the states. She comes back 3 years later and finds out that the hero had been burnt in an accident and the sister hadn't told the heroine like she said she would. He is very snarly, and she is a lot younger than he is. She hangs out with her friend and two guys and goes to a dance with them and has too much to drink. At one point she goes into the hero's bedroom because the hero is in pain with his hip and she lands up getting in bed with him and going to sleep. The housekeeper comes in and sees them together and Rafe says that they are getting married. They get married and she won't sleep with him. Then he throws her a birthday dinner and afterwards she goes down to a cabin on the lake at the back of the house and he follows her, and they make up.
ANy help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you so much!!!! It has been driving me crazy!

HELLO ladies and gents...posted this thread some months ago but didn't get any answers so reposting it again..
I've been looking for a book, unfortunately I do not know the title or the heroes' names in it. Some clues for you are maybe that was written around late 90s and maybe is Silk publishing or desire...it was from the thicker paged harlequin type of romance books at least...
Here is how story unfolds though:
There's these two rival sisters (maybe twins?) that fall in love with the same boy. Story first begins from their childhood, one sister seems to be the good character the other the evil, and the more promiscuous. The good sister firstly meets this young boy-cowboy in their neighborhood that gets reeeally fancinated of. She even fantasizes about him all the time.... There's this scene engraved in my mind, where that good sister and that cowboy get together under a tree and their first sexual tension unfolds. Very vivid scene.
The then bad sister, though, since wants attention (even though has plenty of from many suiters and boys) she just wants to ruin her sister's flame out of spite.
So the good sister backs down, even though silently longing for the boy, and the bad one forms a relationship with said boy. (I believe there is some unwanted pregnancy involved).
Then we are taken some years forward, where the good sister - heroine returns to hometown after many years looking for her evil sister (she was gone for a long time?)
And this, now all handsome, much older cowboy, owner of some ranch, I believe, meets our heroine and takes community's responsibility of showing her around, settling her into a temporary home or something.
Rest is history, the flame is still there so they eventually get back together.
But that's all I remember. So hopefully anyone knows any lead, please hmu! ❤️

Hey Paola,❤️ I read the synopsis of your recommendation. Seems very promising!!!
Looks like it could be it. Do you remember if there's a chapter in book where the one good sister and the other cowboy meet under a tree on a hill and have their first romantic encounter? If so, then this could be it!

The woman's boss came to follow-up and check on her, after she got drunk, they had the romancey-tension. He stayed in town to keep an eye on the woman. While she was "seeing" the older artist, the boss was getting in the way. Eventually, she realized she just idolized the older artist and was in love with her boss, who she ended up with at the end.

I've been searching for a book for a couple of years now.
It's a romance and I think it's Harlequin. I'm pretty sure the heroine's name is Rosie or Rosalie and she moves in with her cousins. After living there for a while, she's convinced to leave with her younger male cousin when he goes back to university. I think his name is William, but I can't be certain. She doesn't want to go but she does.
When the heroine first meets the hero, he's in a wheelchair. They're at a party full of university students. He was a teacher, but was injured and had to take time off. The hero hires the heroine and she eventually lives in his home.
I can't remember the title or the hero's name. I found it a really sweet book though about a disabled hero and would love to reread it. Thank you in advance.
