Jyothi,
# 2 Mayhap Heartbreaker by Charlotte Lamb
Caroline left her alcoholic husband, Peter, in an act of desperation - to save herself and their little daughter from harm. Their three-year security was shattered when Nick Holt, Peter's cousin, turned up on her doorstep - to tell her that Peter was dead and to bring them home to Peter's mother. But hardest of all to bear was Nick's contempt for her. There was no way of counteracting the lies that Peter had told him about her - and Caroline found herself wanting Nick's good opinion.

Jyothi | 53 comments Am back remembering another book. One of the greek series. I think the h is accompanying her friend or sister for her marriage to a Greek tycoon. The older brother is not very happy about that, the h and H start hating each other rightaway. The h is a widow by the way, I think a teacher or a professor, and she is an orphan I think. The H asks her to come with him for some sightseeing tour for a week, she is ashamed of her affair with him and doesnt want his family to know and she returns from the trip before the week is up. He finally gives her an ultimatum, come with me or I walk away. Very angsty kind of book but the chemistry b/w the h and H was amazing. Any ideas???

message 563: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I think you are referring to Helen Brooks "The Greek Tycoon's Bride".
The sisters are twins, and both widowed and traveling to Greece to meet the estranged parents of the deceased brother and to introduce them to the grandchild that they have never met. The sister accompanies her for moral support. There she meets the younger brother....and is what you described. A very good book!

Sira asked for help finding a book:

I have been searching for the title of this book for more than 5 years now...I hope you guys can help me out....

Im sure its from the Silhouette series but from which series I cant recall as the cover to which i knew it was the UK cover edition.....

the story line is an American woman whose parents - her mother being a socialite and the father being some rough looking oil field owner (he drills for oil), the heroine of the novel doesnt really want her socialite life but her father's instead (from an early age her parents divorced but are amicable and she her name happens to be the same initials as that of her father) but both parents want her in the high society life where she should be planning charity functions and etc.....

the heroine uses an uses an opportunity when her father goes out of town on business to assume his role at work (she has the same initials as him) which allows her to get away with signing documents and so forth....with the help of her father's work mate....

she meets the hero while working ( i think he bought some surveys for her father to look over) and for some reason she seems familiar to him (he is familiar to the high society crowd and i think his family wants him to marry in that society as well) but he has a dislike for the women of those crowds.... hence she pretends she is just a plain worker....

there is a scene soon after they meet (both are attracted to each other) that he asks her out on a date and she fibs and says she cant go because she doesnt know how to dance and when he tries to teach he how to she pretends again she doesnt know but as he talks/disttracts to her she forgets to keep up the pretense to which he points out and to cover up she immediately and purposely steps on his toes....

he buys her a dress and and pumps which were dyed to specifically match the dress to attend a society function where her machinations all come to a head as both her mother and father corner and confronts her there and the hero finds out the truth that is very much a part of the crowd of women he wishes to avoid and have nothing to do with.....

towards the ending of the novel, the hero has come to his senses and realizes the heroine is nothing like the other women of the high society crowd and he make plans with the aid of his brother and the heroine's mother and friends to invite her to a party of the hero's and heroine's mutual friends (i think its was her engagement party but she didn't know that), the heroine however is being very stubborn and refuses to forgive the hero for how he reacted when he found out the truth and when she sees him there she walks out, where he sort of kidnaps/whisks her away in a horse drawn carriage being operated by his brother and she struggles to get away from him but he overcomes her and apologizes for the way he acted and asks her to marry him to which she of course accepts.

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Jyoti, you are welcome. It is one of my favorites as well. A lot of tension with a very strong hero, but none of that insulting abusive behavior. I just recently purchased it as an ebook from B&N.. I think Amazon has it as well. It is definitely on my keeper shelf!

Sara HarlequinJunkie (harlequinjunkie) | 19 comments I am trying to locate a Mills & Boons novel I read and loved about 12 - 13 yrs ago. This is a tough one I do not remember the author's name or the characters. It was about 2 sisters switching places.

Story: It is set in England. Two Sisters, one is pretty the other a plain and studios (studying - working at some univeristy).

The family is in some financial difficulty and they are about to loose their Manor house to some distant relative. The only way they can keep it is by having the Beautiful sister Marry the Hero, on the eve of the engagment / wedding the sister skips town. The family request the heroine to stand in for her sister till she returns.

When the Hero meets the Heroine prior to the wedding he realizes she is the wrong sister. After the wedding rehersal they find out that the minister has (a releative) offically married them by mistake.

Heroine then moves to the city and lives with the hero, she come across some photographs one day in her husbands study and realises that he has been keeping tabs on her much before they met and got married.

Appreciate all the help I can get on locating this one.

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments ok..I am really dating myself here. But this book has to be pretty old. The heroine has a sister (maybe she was a twin)...I think h was named Bree short for Briana. Heroine's sister gets pregnant and leaves the child with her and runs off with the boyfriend. Heroine is living in the apartment caring for child when someone comes and tries to rape her. At that moment boyfriend's dad breaks in and saves her. Dad assumes she is the mother and takes him home with her to care for her and his grandchild. Dad is about 37, she is in early 20's..of course they fall in love......but she tries to hide that she is the aunt afraid he will take the child. Set in Australia....Did anyone read this?
